Welcome to Duels!Duels is the place to organize and carry out unofficial 1v1 battles in Elements.
Put together a Duel Profile to accept and post challenges, or simply post in existing topics to set up a duel with someone.
There are no strict rules or heavy moderation in these battles, everything is decided and agreed upon between the two duelists.
The goal is to create a thriving community of casual gameplay outside the larger events.
This topic is a quick guide to get you started!
Duel ProfilesWhile not absolutely necessary, putting together and maintaining a Duel Profile is the best way to post and accept challenges from everyone in the community.
Your Duel Profile should contain a variety of information that is required to properly organize a duel.
As an example, you can find my Profile here:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,38488.0.htmlIn the subject heading, you should include the following information, preferrably in this order:
- Forum Name
This is so that people can easily identify the profile as yours. - Win/Loss ratio
Not absolutely necessary, but provides a good way for other forumers to gauge how tough a challenger you are. - Either [Not Accepting Challenges] or [Accepting Challenges]
This is so that others can identify whether to post a challenge in your thread.
This way if you don't have time to duel, your current line-up is too big, or just aren't in the mood, the fact is easily communicated. - Either [No Challenge Posted] or [Challenge Posted]
This is so that you can broadcast the fact that you have a challenge out for people to accept.
Here is a template for the actual body of the post. Replace everything between the stars.[b]Forum/Chat: ***Forum Name goes here***
IGN: *** In-game name goes here***

***If you're not accepting challenges, you might want to give a brief reason.***
Of course, this is just a template. Feel free to personalize your profile any way you want!
Once you create a Profile, don't forget to put a link to it in the
Challenger Index!
Posting ChallengesThe Duel Section revolves around posting challenges to one another.
You have two options when it comes to posting challenges.
- In your own Duel Profile
If you post a challenge in your profile, it means you are giving out a challenge for anyone to accept.
- In someone else's Duel Profile
This means you are challenging that specific person to a duel. Do this only if they have marked themselves as Accepting Challenges.
A challenge must come with the following information:
- Win Condition
Usually this will be best out of a certain number of matches (eg. Best 3/5), but other win conditions are possible depending on how you want to play.
- Upgraded or Unupgraded
Best to clear this up early.
- Other Special Rules
This means any banned cards, restrictions, deck-building rules etc. that you can come up with. A standard game assumes no restrictions.
The more specific you are with your challenge, the less organization will be required to make it happen. Include as much information as possible!
Accepting ChallengesTo accept a challenge, simply place a post in the thread saying "Challenge Accepted" or equivalent. It may help to quote the challenge so it's less confusing later.
Then take it to PMs and decide on a time, and make the duel happen!
If for some reason you need to decline a challenge, just turn it down politely and give a reason.
After DuelsWhen you've finished the duel, there a few things you could do just for the sake of posterity.
Adjust your Win/Loss ratio accordingly, update your match history, and if you want, post a match description in the
Battle Results Topic.
Now Have Fun!
