While helping my friend playing Elements, i noticed that the decks from
Deckbuilding 101 are losing their effectiveness with the new AI3 set. I tried using mono earth, then mono life, but both have significantly reduced winrate. Sure, it's fast and all, but it fails hard against control decks (which is more common these days)
So i thought, "i could modify
Antagon's Grabbow to make a starter rainbow".
Full credit goes to Antagon. This is for the newbs looking for versatile deck which could be used in many places. It works well against AI3, PVP, maybe even Bronze League. I'll show you how it's done in 10 steps.
Step by step:1. Pick the
Darkness element as your starting element. Why Darkness? Because it yields the highest starter deck price.
The Starter Darkess will be like this:

2.
Change the mark to earth before doing anything else. This is important because it's too easy to forget to change the mark after modifying the deck.
3.

Dagger | Deflagration*2 |

6. Take out and sell 4 Obsidian Pillars before you play any game. The deck should now looked like this:
7. Fight Level 0, take the quest reward. Take the reward again twice for improving deck, and for buying and selling cards.
8. Buy 2 Momentum to replace 2 Obsidian Pillars (sell the pillars).
9. Fight Level 1 and take the quest reward. Fight Level 2 and take the reward.
10. You should now be able to buy 2 Blessings to replace the 2 last Obsidian Pillars (you might not want to sell the pillars this time).
Finished! Your deck should be like this:

Alternately, if you think you're too low on
, you could replace Blessings with Hammers. Blessing is only 1 electrum more expensive than Hammer.
Your deck will look like this:
Or this:
Strategy:
Put down Quantum Pillars. With only 4 pillars you don't have to be afraid of Earthquake as most of the quanta needed will come from Novas.
Use Nova as needed (AKA don't use them up all at once, only use them if you want to play a card) or you'll fall to Black Hole.
Put down creatures and Poisons, grow them when you have a chance to. Set shield immediately to help reduce the damage sustained.
Blessing should be used to Shriekers to make them more sturdy. Momentum could be used on any creature, preferably Forest Spirit to bypass shield while growing in power.
Deflagration could be used for dangerous permanents as needed while Lightning could be used to kill creatures or to help with the finishing blow.
Pros:
Have CC and PC to help winning the game.
Easy to mod.
Can be used in many place. AI3 and PVP1 are the recommended places.
Cons:
Slower compared to other starters.
A bit hard to get used to.
Have 2 elements which bypass the 4 quanta limit (
and
).
Differences from Antagon's Grabbow:
-2 Arsenic, +2 Poison (because Arsenic is a rare)
-1 Graboid, -1 Freeze, +2 Blessing (to make use of the unused
)
Tip:
Poison could be replaced by Hammer for weapon slot, but is not recommended. It is more expensive, have the same damage/quanta ratio, and can eat the quanta you needed.
If you got Arsenic, replace the Poison with it. Ideally you should get 2 Arsenics to replace both Poisons. If you're using the Hammer variant, you'll want to change the Hammers back to Blessings.
Don't bother wasting your Rare Weapon prize on Arsenic, you better off picking any other weapons that would be useful against higher Arena league or FGs.
This deck works wonder unupped. It will work better upped, but
you shouldn't up it. There are other decks which will work better upped.
And this is the final version of this deck:
