So apparently Zmej was going into chat claiming that he could make people "very reach". In order to prove this, he decided to give his username+password as evidence.

Do not go into this account. It will lead to you being IP banned. It's happened to several people already.

Game account. Its already banned, but i guess Zanz could delete it to prevent further issues.

This appears to be the second incident in a short period of time of someone trying to get players banned by having them take a look at a "safe" account for whatever cruel intentions there may be.  Because of this, I cannot stress this enough...

No matter how difficult the game may seem to you right now,
NEVER LOG INTO AN ACCOUNT THAT A COMPLETE STRANGER GIVES YOU ACCESS TO
Spread the word, make others more aware of the dangers of simply logging into an account that does not belong to them.

I wouldn't trust anything from someone telling me they could make me 'very reach'.  I don't suppose he was a prince from Sao Tome trying to get his money out of the country, was he?

Not that I am blaming the chat mods, but this is really an incident that chat mods need to learn when to use their ban power.

Actually, there were zero official Chat Moderators present at the time. (The definition of an official Chat Moderator is someone who is listed under the Chat Moderators section of the staff list (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?action=staff), and has access to the Chat Moderator secret section on the forum)

Yes, all forum staff with a unique title are given the mod powers, but we were specifically told not to use them.

Because of technical limitations, I had to implement a system where all forum staff members have moderator rights in the new chat room. This means that if you have a unique title under your name (and usually a unique color name), you will have moderator rights in chat.

Anyone who has not worked as a chat moderator before, please do not use these new powers until you have been briefed. All moderator actions are being logged, and if you get caught abusing these powers, your chat mod powers will be permanently removed.

I'm not trying to play the blame game here, but curiosity really does kill the Schrodinger's Cat.

That said, in situations like this, any "unofficial" Chat Mod with common sense should have banned him. And if I recall correctly, he only got two messages out, so it looks like someone did ban him.

i still dont have access, but hopefully thats just because zanz/whoever reviews these is busy with the holiday season.
