NAME:

ELEMENT:
Life
COST:
:life
TYPE:

ATK|HP:
2 | 10
TEXT:
Heal yourself for 3 HP's when a creature is summoned and attack the opponent when a creature is killed.
ART:
ZBlader
IDEA:
TuckingFypo.
NOTES:
The skill is called Nature's Justice and is active.  Hopefully that fits because it sounds really cool.

"A creature is summoned" means played from hand and generated by permanents, creatures, or spells.  "A creature is killed" means that a death effect has been triggered.  The skill can activate multiple times per turn.

The damage dealt is based on the creature's current attack stat and does not cause the creature to interact with nor trigger the effects of poison, shields, sundial, adrenaline, vampirism, and whatever else I forgot.  :P  The skill won't activate if the creature is frozen or delayed though.

NotesThe skill is called Justified (I guess? O_o) and is passive.  The damage dealt is based on the creature's current attack stat and does not interact with poison, shields, statuses, sundial, and whatever else I forgot.
ProblemLife has two main components: a fast rush and and burst healing.
Its 1) predictable 2) swarmy rushes are weak to 3) shields and 4) CC.
Its healing is…well…a bit 5?) lacking… 6??) not sustained… 7?!) or something… 8/9/10/11/12) I really don't know.
Solution^This card fixes Life’s problems in several ways.

Props
1). The unupped version’s base stats can sort of counter the effects of DR shields.
2). The high HP makes it hard to kill.
3). The ability allows for Life to deal damage that can penetrate shields, or it can
4). indirectly protect your creatures from CC.
5). The ability allows for more healing.  And that is well, more healing.
6). Synergy within Life and with other elements!  Like Aether.  That’s usually good.
7). It is not overly situational as a card.

Uncategorized
1). A bad cost/attack ratio.  Although that’s intended and means you should use other cards with it for efficiency.  And that might give Life decks a bit more diversity.
2). Bad wording/a bit complicated?  Iunno, “attack the opponent” seems a bit vague.
3). If it does solve most of Life’s problems, and gets in the game, chances are you’ll be seeing it very often.

Slops
There are none.  :))

I like it a lot, kinda wish it had golem in the name unupped (golems should be a series someday).

It fits nicely into life both as a beater between the little guys and dragons, and also as a soft solution to Life's CC woes.  Although the upped being a 2/10 for 3 is a little weird.  I think 5/7 for 4 would be pretty sensible, since then it continues the upped progression of 5/3 for 2 5/5 for 3 then 5/7 for 4.  And it maintains it's usefulness as a beater as well as a utility creature.

Perhaps you could name the skill Nature's Justice?

I like the idea of the card, but 2 attack for the upgraded is perfect. Upping the Attack any more would be absolutely unconscionable, because the deck that first comes to mind is Fractal. Fractal once to get 6+ creatures on the field, then fractal again to get 6+ Ball Lightning.

If this thing had an attack of 5, then even if you only had 4 on the field, that would be 25 damage per ball lightning. Whereas if you had 6 with the other version, it would only be 17 per ball lightning. Still pretty powerful, but much harder as that would be 18  :life instead of 16  :life, you'd need more slots in your hand, and any type of DR shield nullifies most of it and able to be balanced with. The fractal Ball Lightning combo is a slight problem with this card, but if you leave the attack as-is it can be balanced for.

"Nature's Justice" sounds really really cool.  8)  Is it too long to fit in that black box for skills though?  If so, maybe "Justified?"  That doesn't sound nearly as cool though D:

And yep, Fractal+BL was the main reason why it was 2 | 10 and not 5 | 7 or 5 | 8.  If it turns out though that it's not as strong as we thought then I could change it to 5 | 7.

Hmm.  Bumping for feedback, a few days before I submit this into Crucible.

Sooo uh, what do people think of Fractal + BL?

Also, you should ignore the fact that Golem's picture, stats, and artist box are slightly unaligned  :))

Balance Factors for BL/Skyblitz/ForestKeeper:
+ It's an endgame move for a deck, so like Skyblitz it shouldn't come into play until endgame.
+ To deal sufficient damage for OTK you have to rely on another card in a different element (similar to Skyblitz)
-  Can do early damage when played that might be preffered to endgame skyblitz and ability functions as potential antiCC -> Higher attack creatures become harder to balance.

Overall, the upgraded version seems okay while the unupped might need to be rebalanced a bit.
(I'd suggest lowering the stats of unupped to Cost 7, Stats 5 | 5 or Cost 6, Stats 4 | 4).

Not sure what the Forest Keeper is supposed to be, but I can give you a Forest Golem:

Well I think it's about time for another bump :0  New art has been added, and the unupped version's HP changed from 6 to 5.  Does anyone want to actually comment on, say, the unupped version's stats?

I'm thankful for the actual response but also a bit iffy on those stat changes.  I think the unupped version wouldn't be practical in a Fractal deck.  It'd be overkill strong, but I think it'd also be too expensive and slow.  That's what the upped version is for.  If we lower the stats/cost of the unupped version, even by 1|1, I think it'd be a lot weaker in other decks.  Of course, there's also mono Life, say with Mitosis, a few of these, and...frogs?

Thanks for the art! :0  I'm going to use your art for both cards.  Forest Keeper was actually supposed to be a deer, but just screw that already; and Astrid stole my cookies =(, and my own art isn't the best so...

I love the idea of a benefit every time you play a creature in a life deck, but I'd prefer a permanent or a weak creature WITHOUT the second effect of the auto-attack. I think it's a bit too much.
