It's going to be hard to describe this one as I'm hyperaware of things I don't like, and unaccustomed to victory. Therefore most of my higher brain functions were occupied with screaming "WE ARE WINNING. How are we winning? DON'T JINX IT! We gonna DIIIEEEE!"
Game 1 -
My nemesis, the Eternity, caused me to poop a little bit. Then I drew Wings, and it was K. I started to think that maybe I was in the possession of a "counterdeck" - something I've seen my opponents wield, but never actually used myself. I doubted this, however, and prepared for an embarrassing defeat.
Game 2 -
This match was much closer. I could tell he was saving his Deflag for my Wings, and it was difficult to stay ahead on the damage race in anticipation of said Deflag. I felt his blade at my throat, yet lived to tell the tale. Drawing a second Wings literally JUST in time saved my ass.
Game 3 -
I drew one defensive card to start - Pandemonium. Upped shriekers are scary, so I clicked the Pand and was rewarded with a sexy RT effect, probably the best possible result in this particular game. Kills are nice, but RT helped with the quanta advantage I had. I gambled on a strategy that consisted of clicking on Abominations, chanting "Rush! Rush! Rush! Rush!" and fearing his potential for explosive graboid damage.
Nevertheless, I won due to quickly amassing 5 or 6 entropy pillars, whereas he was quanta starved. Despite a very early Eternity, he was unable to keep my Aboms off the field. A last ditch swarm of grabbies was scary, but luckily I had demons out by then - I am fairly certain that even if Fog Shield had shown him love, I'd have gotten another chance to kill him the following turn. His lack of quanta was the real winner here. I had NO shields!
Sorry about your luck, bogtro. You played your deck as well as could be managed in the circumstances, I think, especially during nail-biting Game 2. I've been in your shoes and wish you good luck!
PS - with all the aforementioned screaming and chanting and raving, my cat is TERRIFIED of me, and I didn't even throw the keyboard at him in rage this time.
