ART: Zaealix IDEA: Zaealix NOTES: The huge cost difference is due to the death that occurs when this card is played. The unupped version costs so little because it kills one of yours. The upped has a much greater cost to balance the fact you can kill any creature instantly, assuming it's not burrowed or immaterial Edit: Had to change the upgraded form. Anyhow, the death effects this card triggers, wheather upped or unupped, does not feed the weapon itself. SERIES:

The Creature control I feel death deserves (not that aflatoxin and retrovirus are bad). Definitely an interesting card.

The idea was to give Death's ability to utilize creature deaths a boost, both by giving it another killing method, and by giving it another card that responds to it. Note that it won't gain from the creature it kills however! And mind you, unless you upgrade this, you have to sacrific one of your own creatures to use this thing.

Instant kill in a single card is tabooed by zanz to my knowledge. I'd say the upgraded version is definitely way overpowered.

If tabooed, I'd just make the upgraded weapon the same but with a higher base attack. The card would still be fairly useful

Hrm...Well, I can certainly change the upgraded's mechanics if it's power is truly taboo. I've even an idea on how this could work.

I think it would be balanced without the killing a creature part - I like a weapon that raises its attack. It fits death perfectly! (well, maybe not perfect)

Not sure what I can come up with that would be worth +6 . So the new upped will have a lower cost. I think  5 and triggering death effects sounds good.
+1 or +2 for not killing a creature, and +2 or +3 for triggering death effects that buffs itself.
Kind of a shame that the insta-kill thing is banned. This card would have created a new deck type-Flying Bone Scythe.

Sacrificing your own creatures isnt taboo, so that mechanic is fine. also, make the unupgraded cost 2 , its a little overpowered for being so cheap. then make the upgraded one the same price but base with 5 damage. the mechanic is still good, fractal something cheap and have this on the field with graveyard/soulcatcher/bonewall/vulture

That's an option too, but I wanted there to be a larger cost, so as to further differ this card from Arsenic. This comes out slower, but it's more powerful, basically. Though it is hard to come up with something worthwhile.

Dont worry about quanta differances, this card is very different from arsenic as is. Arsenic focuses on death's poison aspect, while this is based on the death trigger. this is also high damage, whereas arsenic is fairly weak
