This topic is meant as a reference for new members and old members alike on what staff members actually do, which icon matches which position, and what privileges each staff position has. For a list of members who are serving and/or have served in each position, refer to

GameLead DeveloperThe Lead Developer is obviously the lead developer of the game, and the position is held by the one and only
zanzarino. The Lead Developer thinks of new card ideas and other ideas for the development of the game, and updates it. He updates the Patch Notes and Development News board whenever there is a new patch or otherwise.
Arena ModeratorArena Moderators have access to a special page where they can ban players from the in-game Arena for things like hacking and inappropriate usernames. Only veterans are allowed to be Arena Moderators due to the potential for them to do harm to the actual game.
Administration
AdministratorAdministrators manage the technical details required for running the site. As such, they may promote (and demote) members to different positions, manage the rules, create sections and sub-sections, as well as perform server and database maintenance. They also perform the duties of a moderator. They make forum-wide announcements and keep the software up-to-date.
ModerationGlobal ModeratorGlobal Moderators perform the duties of a moderator in the whole of the forum. They are responsible for keeping the forum clean and moderating discussion. They may move, merge, delete, lock, rename or sticky threads and edit or delete posts. They also attend to reports made by users.
ModeratorModerators perform the same duties as Global Moderators, but are limited to one board. The organizers of PvP Events are also made Moderators of the event's board so that they can manage the event topics.
PvPTournament OrganizerTournament Organizers are responsible for organizing weekly PvP Tournaments. They frequently discuss future tournaments and who will organize them with each other, optimize deck-building rules, come up with new tournament ideas or tweak old ones, coordinate matches between participants, resolve conflicts between them, ensure rounds are completed in a timely manner and answer questions anyone may have.
WarmasterWarmasters manage the huge PvP Event called War. They are responsible for drafting players at the beginning of each War, updating standings and creating new threads each round, settling match disputes and offering ideas on how to improve the event.
League OrganizerLeague Organizers manage the event PvP League. They are responsible for adding new players to League, adding match results, and promoting League.
PvP Event ManagerThe PvP Event Manager manages PvP Events and the PvP Events section. They are responsible for starting new PvP Events, turning high-quality Event ideas into a reality, helping organize Events if needed and enforcing the PvP parasite system.
Trial OverseerThe Trial Overseer is responsible for ensuring that the Trials run smoothly. They are responsible for starting and organizing Trial topics, updating standings and making appropriate announcements.
Duel OverseerThe Duel Overseer is responsible for organizing the Duels section and ensuring that duels are carried out appropriately.
Card Ideas and ArtCard CuratorCard Curators manage the Card Ideas and Art section. They are responsible for assisting in cataloging and organizing card ideas in each section of the board, helping card makers with the proper formatting of card tables, managing card polls for the Crucible and Forge on a weekly basis, looking over the Design Theory and Exhibition Hall boards and moving Crucible submissions as required.
Art CuratorThe Art Curator is responsible for providing others with original art for card ideas or helping them with their art. They also point out potential copyright issues.
Idea GuruThe Idea Guru is the leader and moderator of the Idea Factory.
Competitions and GamesCompetition OrganizerCompetition Organizers organize competitions in the Competitions section. They are responsible for coming up with competition ideas or resurrecting old ideas, explaining the rules, compiling a vote, and ensuring that there is one competition running at all times.
GuildmasterGuildmasters manage the Guilds and organize and host all the events associated with them. They are responsible for keeping the Guild process tidy, communicating with the Guilds and their Commanders, continuously evaluating the process and looking for improvements.
Forum Game OrganizerForum Game Organizers manage the Forum Games section. They are the only ones who can post in the Forum Games section, and so members with ideas for games first PM them. They are responsible for managing forum games and enforcing the 10-day policy, encouraging creative game ideas, and providing a satisfying experience to all players involved in forum games.
Battle MasterBattle Masters manage the forum mod called Battle. They add new quests, monsters, fix bugs and keep everything running smoothly.
Other PositionsBrawlmasterBrawlmasters manage the huge forum event called Brawl. They are responsible for drafting players at the beginning of each Brawl, updating standings and creating new threads each round, settling match disputes and offering ideas on how to improve the event.
Chat ModeratorChat Moderators are given moderator permissions in Chat. They are responsible for keeping Chat free of spam, trolling and flaming.
Wiki EditorWiki Editors are responsible for editing the official Wiki. They update it as needed, write new articles, edit existing ones, keep the Wiki free of spam and low-quality articles, and moderate comments.
Deck HelperDeck Helpers manage the deck section. They are responsible for moving decks that are posted in the wrong category, organizing the Deck Archives, and assisting players with building and optimizing decks. They are usually friendly and helpful, proficient deck builders, and active in Chat so that they may help members there.
Newsletter WriterNewsletter Writers write our monthly newsletter and are also responsible for improving it constantly. The Council, other staff members and other volunteers contribute to the newsletter and with new ideas to bring to the table.
Bug HunterThe Bug Hunter oversees and organizes the Report a Bug section. They attempt to verify bugs and update the topic title as needed, keeps a list of 'known bugs' and 'not bugs' and tries to find workarounds or solutions.
Social Network ManagerSocial Network Managers do exactly that: they manage the social network of Elements the Game. They are in charge of the game's official social pages such as Twitter and Facebook.
Mentor ManagerMentor Managers are in charge of running the Mentor Program. The Mentor Program is currently on hold, so as of now they do not have any known duties.
Other TitlesThese titles are not necessarily staff positions as such, and do not give a unique title under a holder's name when posting like staff positions do.
The Masters are 12 celebrated players who are very skilled at PvP. They are selected through the Trials event, where contestants go through a number of phases to battle the current Master of the element they are trying for and attempt to take the title from them. Masters manage their element's section in the Cards board, and usually act as the General for their element in the War event.
A Grand Master is essentially a Master of Masters. They obtain the title by being a Master, General of the winning War team, and beating the old Grandmaster (assuming the latter held their title during Trials). They retain the title by staying Master during the next Trials.
A Council Member is a member of the Elements Council. They have access to a secret section and can vote on things like promotion of staff members. Members gain entry to the council through an election.
