NOTES:
All non-zero cost cards will trigger Perpetual Motion Machine | Perpetuum's ability -- so Supernova will, but Nova won't. Similarly Immolation and the Retrovirus's ability (which costs 0) will not trigger Perpetuum. Flooding's one :water per turn will also trigger Perpetuum.

Originally started off as a thermodynamics-inspired idea called "Law of Conservation", where every time a card was played, the user would gain a certain amount of quanta. I considered at first making it an :entropy card, due to Entropy having a thematic link to the thermodynamics aspect of physics, but since Entropy already had an alternate source of quanta (Nova | Supernova), I decided to make it a different element. I settled on Gravity due to the Perpetual Motion Machine providing a similar mechanic, and with motion being related to mechanics, which IMO is the domain of Gravity in EtG (Acceleration, Catapult).

I like the idea.  It would give Gravity better quanta by far.  However, when it stacks, you start to get insane amounts.  Seems like overall, any quanta usage as a trigger seems a little too broad.  Might be more reasonable if it were manually activated skills, like :gravity: Devour, rather than an absorb quanta sort of skill.  Ultimately, the upgrade is overpowered, since you can just spam abilities yourself, and it would create massive amounts of Gravity.

I considered only having Perpetuum be triggered by either quanta spent on playing the card (playing a Destroyer would trigger it, but not activating the Destroyer's Growth ability), or quanta spent on abilities (the Growth ability would trigger it, but not the initial summoning of the Destroyer). But only one of the two would, I felt, not be versatile enough for players to use it in their regular decks, leading to what happened to Flooding. I guess the former option could work with Eternity/Perpetuum stalls, but otherwise the card isn't flexible enough for most decks IMO.

EDIT: About the upgraded card's effect, what if I had it generate  :gravity :gravity :gravity instead of  :gravity :gravity, but still only be triggered by the opponent? That way a clever player could still largely avoid triggering an enemy Perpetuum's effects.

Before a curator jumps on you and delays its Crucible entry by a week: COST box should say 0.

As for the card itself, it looks interesting; the opponent's strategy would be similar to when they're infected with neurotoxin.

Also, would this work if you drained their quanta through Black Hole, Pest, etc.?

No, because they'd lose quanta instead of actively spending it...but I suppose I could make that count as well. There were concerns in chat about this card not getting enough usage the way it is now, this change could add a new range of combos to it.
