ART: Boingo
IDEA: Boingo
NOTES: - I originally designed this card to replace Thunderstorm | Lightning Storm.  This was before Shockwave was available.
- Just to Clarify, "Blown Away" is destruction of the creature.
- Chance to have creature killed = 1 / (Creatures Current HP Min 1)
Example
1 hp = 100%
2 hp = 50%
3 hp = 33%
4 hp = 25%
5 hp = 20%
6 hp = 17%

- In the case of a situation where a creature is present with 0 hp the hp will be treated as 1 to prevent divison by zero.

Special thanks to ScytherLol for the card's original artwork.  I have now become more familiar with the card creation tools so I have updated the card artwork.

**Originally posted Feb 8, 2008**
Let's face it:   :air needs a better spell.  Thunderstorm is cheap which is nice, but not very powerful.  And nobody is really afraid of "thunder" anyway, it's the lightning that does the damage--but, "oops!" Lightning is in  :aether.  My proposed spell cards would basically be a beefed up thunderstorm (and could easily replace it) and thus give  :air a true  air-based spell.

I propose a new spell card:

Name:  Twister
Cost:  3  :air
Effect:  Chance to remove opposing creatures.  For each creature, chance is 100%/N, where N is number of creature hp.

Upgrade
Name: Tornado
Cost: 2  :air
Effect: Chance to remove opposing creatures.  For each creature, chance is 100%/N, where N is number of creature hp.

How would this work in practice?  Basically, you still get rid of every 1 hp creature just as you would with Thunderstorm.  This simply gives you a chance to remove "larger" creatures, and the chance goes down the "heavier" they are.  A twister/tornado is going to move small objects a lot further than big ones.  Parasite?  Bye-bye.  Chrysaora?  Maybe.  Armagio? Not so much.

1 hp = 100% chance
2 hp = 50%
3 hp = 33%
4 hp = 25%
5 hp = 20%
6 hp = 17%
etc.

That's the basic card.  Some additional food for thought, and I'd invite your comments:

A) I had thought about having the cards returned to opponent's deck, but I'm sure there'd be some problem with coding or something like that.  If so, it'd be a non-death alternative to RoF, more like Reverse time on a mass scale.

B) It blows away the dirt and uncovers burrowed creatures (unharmed), making them targetable.  They could, of course, burrow (if still alive) at the next available turn.

EDIT:
I guess there is certain beauty in keeping things simple.  Upon further consideration, removed creatures are simply dead.  They are not returned to opponent's hand.  And I'll have to wait for another card inspiration to get at those burrowed buggers.

Np I liked the girl getting cast by the spell so left her in for the upgrade but easy enough to change if you want.

Anytime I can help I will make the effort to,

Even at 3-4 HP this card starts being really... not very useful, as the chance gets reduced to below coinflip.

100% - 10%*HP, maybe?

Anyone have objections to it uncovering burrowed creatures?

And does anyone who knows coding know if you can send multiple cards back to your opponent's hand at the same time?  (Would this be desirable?)

No.  Don't do this.  There are these issues to deal with.

What order do they go back in?
What if there are more than seven cards?
These don't make it impossible to load, but are just annoying and preferably avoided.

The unburrowing would be useful, but no one would put it in their decks.

I do.  I like this idea, but keep it as simple as it currently is.  If you mess with returning to hand or only some or only even unburrowing creatures, it just gets too complicated.

Whoa, this idea is really ingenious and seems like great fun, too! This is great! I love this idea! :P

However, I am slightly uncomfortable with the fact that the twister "removes" a creature from play. I think a negligible but more clear way to say it is that it kills the creature. :)

Immortal and burrowed creatures should not be affected. Immortal creatures aren't affected by worldly affairs like tornadoes and underground is EXACTLY where you want to be when a tornado strikes.

Great cards!

Glad you liked them.  If I had my druthers, these would replace Thunderstorm, but we'll have to wait for now.  I have edited the first post to include clarity on the remove=dead issue.  And immortal/burrowed creatures are safe.  For now.

Thanks for the input so far all!
