Help with Fractal Scarab deck? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=27455.msg349275#msg349275

Any suggestions? It seems that I always either draw pillars right away, spend 2-3 turns waiting for a scarab/fractal to show up, or draw multiple fractals/scarabs and ending up having to wait for pillars.

Maybe remove the Chimera and lone gravity pillar. There is only one of each and if you put more in it will interfere with the fractal scarabs. Keep the mark gravity though. I would replace them with an aether pillar and another fractal.

Here's a bit of a variation of what I ran in Trials (untested, but should be fairly stable):

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
560 576 576 576 5rk 5rk 5rk 5rk 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 622 622 622 622 8pu

Gravity Pends because you don't need to nom until your first Fractal. The quanta balance is a bit better, since you need more :aether quanta for earlier Fractal more than you need :gravity quanta for nomming later on. Reverse Times help you stall out early creature rushes while you find your combo pieces, and is also useful for making those overgrown Growth creatures nommable again. Chimera is there to make sure that a damage-reduction shield doesn't completely shut you down.

Alternatively, a Catapult variant could work too.

(This comment is part of Task III of Phase 1 - Trial of Time)

The big difficulty in fractalling scarabs is that scarab is a duo card. You need :time to play them and :aether to multiply them. The thing is that if you want to use the CC ability of you scarabs you also need  :gravity. A gravity mark, as with a Pharaoh deck is excluded as the most critical quanta to deal with is :aether in such a deck. During last war, team time work on the problem and here is the solution we came up with:

Code: [Select]
4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rk 5rk 5rk 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 5t2 5t2 5t2 5t2 622 622 622 622 7dm 7dm 7n0
Compared to the trio version, I think it is faster. It suffers some bad draws but not much more than the trio version.
The big bonus is the ability to play some of element cards. It gives you a high versatility, very useful in pvp or in war. In this version, you have a cheap but good shield and PC. The 3 upgraded card are not absolutely needed. It is just better this way because you can play them out of a single nova.  You can switch some of the RT or one explosion for some purify if you expect that your opponent plays poison or a mirror shield if you fear a fire or water stall. I also did play with an arsenic instead of a RT. It is nice if you don't expect steal. Another alternative is to play 3 sundial intead of the 3 RT. It give you more time to accumulate the precious :aether quanta and the higher draw power might provide you the nova you want to play your shield.
The drawback of this version is the number of devour you can perform. As you produce only 6 :gravity you will only be able to do it 6 time. Some people play it with 1 supernova in place of a Nova. I don't because it diminish the stability of the build.

As SnoWeb showed, Novas would be great for this deck, though not totally neccesary. A trio is often hard to make, and with novas it can become a rainbow. And because you have Scarabs as your main damage/ control0, the Pharaoh won't fit so good in this deck, because it consume way to much :time quanta.

I'm gonna show you the deck I would recommend. SnoWeb's is more offensive, while mine makes :gravity quanta that your Scarabs can use, and devour all the opposite creatures, no nova version:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
576 576 576 576 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rk 5rk 5rk 5rk 5rk 5rk 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 5rq 622 622 622 622 63a 63a 63a 63a 63a 63a 63a 8ps

This deck uses a :time mark, with Gravity and Aether Pendulums to keep the quanta going. Reverse Time is also a great, cheap creature control card that can shut down many decks. In trios and duos, Pendulums is almost every time superior to pillars. Keep that in your mind.
Find your playstyle, use SnoWeb's more offensive rainbow or mine more defensive trio. Good luck, and keep on deckbuilding! :)
