It's been my experience that when people predict a match will be epic, it's usually a one-sided beatdown. This was a pleasant disappointment.
With poison dealers, it's more important to stall early because if the poison is allowed to accumulate, you're toast. Against most other decks it makes sense to hold the stall until a lot of creatures are out late in the game. Needless to say I'd prepared for something entirely different and almost didn't adjust in time.
The first game I got quanta, a FH, dials, and a bolts in pretty much the order I wanted. I decided to stall when she had two deathstalkers out, and I bolted to finish her just before the poison ate my innards and left me a hobbled mess.
The second match I started with a bunch of bolts in hand, but... well...
there's too many. THEY'RE ALL OVER MEEEEE!
The third game I started with one dial, some bolts and quanta, and a deflag. She played only one pillar and by this time I knew she didn't have arsenic, so I deflagged it. Then while trying to play while chatting I used my dial despite her not having creatures out. WIN. I decided I couldn't stall and couldn't afford to let poison accumulate, plus it didn't look like she had a bunch of deathstalker/momentum combos lined up, so I bolted her first two critters. Again I finished with bolts.
Again, really ggs, GG. Quite close and a lot of fun. Best of luck to you and Team Gravity.
Edit: I was just saying to myself "Man our vault could use six more momentums."
