There's a group of us on chat who like to play different kinds of PvP formats to keep things interesting and to spark some more creativity in deck design.  It seems like we've basically found just about all of the better PvP decks with our current constraints and hence, typically only see the same few types of decks all the time.  Introducing new formats help force us to explore some new deck designs which is always fun.

So, here are some PvP options:

No ups or Nu - Play a game with no upgraded cards.

No rares or Nr - Play a game with no rare cards.

No ups and No rares or Nu/Nr - Play a game with no upgraded cards and no rare cards.  This is great for a mix group of veterans and newbies.

No Rainbows - You cannot use Quantum Pillars/Towers.

30-2 or 30/2 - Play a game with a minimum deck of 30 cards and no more than 2 of any card except Pillars/Towers.  You cannot use Quantum Pillars/Towers.

30-3 or 30/3 - Play a game with a minimum deck of 30 cards and no more than 3 of any card except Pillars/Towers.  You cannot use Quantum Pillars/Towers.

40-4 or 40/4 - Play a game with a minimum deck of 40 cards and no more than 4 of any card except Pillars/Towers.  You cannot use Quantum Pillars/Towers.

Trio - Play a game with trio decks only.  You have to use cards from three different elements and use quantums from three different elements (ie you cannot make a Fire deck with Animate Weapon and upped Sundials and call it a trio deck; but, if you did use those cards with Air quantum and Light quantum along with the Fire cards and quantum it would be a trio deck).  You cannot use Quantum Pillars/Towers.

Many of these formats can be mixed and matched.  Try different combinations and see what you like!  We also like to do a "round robin" or a "king of the hill" format depending on the number of people.  The "king of the hill" is nice with 3 people because two people can duel while the third thinks and changes his deck to try to counter the next deck he has to play.  The "king" keeps using the same deck until he loses.

If you have any other formats you've tried and liked let us know!  I might update this post with some other recommendations.

Not sure if this is playful sarcasm or serious, but with mono only, Fire and Darkness has an upper hand with their broader arsenal of cards especially if you play only 1 element for cards and quantum.  But I suppose Mono + 30/2 might be interesting.  Not sure if every element could field a deck though.

Vewy intewesting, and another way to set restrictions in the league as well.
Yep.  You can use these rules for the league as well.  Just make sure both agree on the specifics before you start.  See you in the chat!

I got a few to throw out there
mirror-play a game with matching decks

NCC or no common cards- play a game without a single card in common within the decks
NCC is similar to Uzra's Singleton games.  In that, you could only have 1 of any card.  It's a bit too random for me.  I like to think there's some strategy when I put a deck together.  With the mirror games, if they're exactly the same deck, won't the winner be the one who gets a better hand basically?  Again, it seems pretty random.  Maybe though, you could make it so that you both have to play the same element(s).  Basically, you're seeing who can come up with a better deck using only x cards.  For instance, you can randomly pick two elements like Life and Death and agree that you can only play with Life and Death cards (but maybe can use any Mark so that you could use, for instance, Forest Spirit's growth ability with a Water mark).  It's just a thought, but it might be interesting . . .  or it might totally suck.  We'll have to try it out in chat sometime.  ;)

You accidentally listed Nr as no ups no rares, so I went ahead and fixed it for ya. :D

I suppose you could, but mono decks are kinda easy to make and predictable. Trio decks are harder to make and more interesting/a challenge.

Also trio's with 30cards and 30% element is a fun rule, 10cards from each element. Ive played some of these with coke and dragoon, and it surely creates a challenge =)

Glad I beat them both, however we played with 30% upgrades, a kind thing from their site since I'm the poor newbie :3
