What is T50 https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=20237.msg256920#msg256920
« on: January 25, 2011, 11:36:56 am »
Okay so maybe I haven't searched hard enough, but I've been trying to find a definitive explanation of T50, to no avail.

How do you qualify for it? What happens when you do? Are you notified somehow? Are there any benefits? Do you get to choose to be a Farm?

Hope I'm not outta line posting right here; happy to take suggestions as to where to do so, but I'm finding the lack of easily accessible info frustrating.

Cheers.

T50 consists of the 50 players with the highest score in Elements. You don't have to qualify, only thing you need to do is get a (very) high score.

When you play T50, you will fight the AI (meaning a computer controlled deck) so it's not actually PvP. When playing T50 however you will play vs the decks of one of the players with a high score, controlled by the computer.
Sometimes, one of these players will use a deck wich is very easy to beat and has some rare cards in it, they do this to give you a chance of winning such a rare card, this is called a farm, it's their own decision.

Does this answer your question?  :D

How do you qualify for it?
Have enough score to be in the weekly Top 50. If you click on the highscore button and see your name in the list, thereĀ“s a 2% chance that a player, who presses the Top 50 button plays against your deck (current one or the one you had, when you pressed highscore, not sure). You can meet your own deck in Top 50.
Top 50 is reset every Sunday. But this game exists since the middle of 2009, so you will not be there for long.

Notification ?
You see your name in the list.

Benefits ?
Not now, except the fact that you can find (and beat )your own deck in Top 50 and that other players will fight against your deck.

An almost permanent place in Top 50 is a kind of honor.

First, thanks..

Secondly, just to confirm, appearance in the T50 depends on how many points you've scored in a given week, not on the overall leaderboard?

It's your total score on the overall leaderboard.

The deck that appears in t50 is always the current deck of that player, and it's the score from the weekly leaderboard that you get to meet in t50. This is why, at the start of a week, you face people with lower scores, because people with higher scores aren't all waiting for the new week to start and then press submit right away ;)

How about a clear answer for a change:

When you press Top-50, you randomly fight against the deck of a player who has one of the 50 highest point totals. The AI controls that deck against you, not the other player. The player's deck can change constantly; every time he logs into Elements the deck is saved ... so for example some players put up farms (decks that have a lot of rare cards but no way to defend themselves) just before they go offline, and then take them down and use their normal decks when they play again.

Generally you will need a score of 150,000 points to be in the Top-50 at all; or around 200,000 points to be there for a long period of time. Top-50 eligibility is determined by your total score, not by what you've scored in a given time period. However, it is RESET every Sunday and starts recollecting scores. This happens when players RESUBMIT their scores by clicking the "highscores" button from within the game. Since many top players like keeping their decks in the Top-50, they wait for the Sunday deadline and make a habit of pressing the button immediately. So if you have a relatively low score (under 100K for example) you really are not going to have much chance to get into the Top-50 for more than a few minutes.

Top-50 is especially good as a player for collecting rare cards because there are often farms up. The best way to do this is to head into the Elements chat and look around for Top-50 players. Often several will be hanging out there. You can ask them and often they will be nice enough to build a farm for you right then and there, putting in the rares you still need to collect. Having done that, you can spend some time "farming" the Top-50 and hoping to fight their decks.

You will notice that occasionally one player has several copies of his deck within the Top-50. This is done by logging into the highscores from several different machines and can be a way of greatly increasing your chances of fighting a farm. There is no rule against this practice, however it is generally frowned upon by the community.

Note that the Top-50 feature's time is limited. Zanzarino, the game's developer, intends to replace the feature entirely. Speculation has it that that will happen next Spring or Summer.

Thanks everyone, in particular Sir Valimont for the comprehensive explanation.

I just hit 100k so perhaps sometime soonish I'll be in there even if just for a short time  ;)
