Starting With the ClassicsMandatory card-name localization by abbreviating the word "Black" to "B".
What Would be Yu-Gi-Oh Without Trap Cards?Mandatory shrink of card-text size to allow fitting a bunch of effects on the cards.
If there is a cost, you can also play them normally. Usually, you would use TRAP cards from your hand during your OPPONENT's turn for the element of surprise.
Just don't forget to yell "YOU ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD!" when they go off.
Deck SearchersAlso introducing: Archetypes. The Graviton archetype currently includes Graviton Mercenary, Graviton Salvager, and Graviton Firemaster, but the TCG would release new archetypal support every 5 years.
Adapting Yu-Gi-Oh Cards to ElementsThese cards would both exist:
I wanted to name "Malefic Purple Dragon" to "Malefic Purple End Dragon" to better match
"Malefic Cyber End Dragon", but I messed up. X_X
Using "Attach" Effects, Because EtG Has No Graveyard Fusion Summoning and Xyz SummoningUsually, the difference between Fusion Summon and Xyz Summon is that during a Fusion summon, you can use fusion materials from both your hand and field, while you can only use Xyz materials from your field.
Xyz summoning is a whole thing in the anime. It works by using creatures with the same cost as Xyz materials to summon an Xyz Fusion creature. To avoid knowing anything about the anime, I wrote all necessary details on the card text. :V
Look at how poor Castel's full name didn't fit. :[ It was supposed to be
"Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer".
New Game-Mechanics Also, screw immateriality, because Reflective and Emerald Shield say that immateriality only grants protection from destruction and theft, and Quintessence only prevents targeting. Therefore, immaterial permanents could be targeted and shuffled, and immaterial creatures would be affected by AoE effects. We would have enough card-text space now to elaborate.
Monthly Banlist and Power CreepWith each release of cards, the Power Creep would make many older cards obsolete, but in Yu-Gi-Oh, that is perfectly normal.
Nerfing cards? What? Card balancing? Who? The TCG doesn't care about those! There are two options:
- Release even more overpowered cards to lessen the accidently released overpowered card's effectiveness.
- Put overpowered cards on the banlist and remove them once the Power Creep is big enough (Monster Reborn). Or don't (Pot of Greed).
Snapshot of the October 2017 banlist:
- Fractal
Tribute SummoningYou can Tribute Summon creatures from your hand by sacrificing creatures from your side of the field that have equal or more over-all cost. If you Tribute Summon a creature, you don't pay its original cost. You can only Tribute Summon creatures with Cost:[5 or more]. Example:
- Tribute Summon an Anubis from your hand for free by sacrificing 2 Psions from your side of the field.
Don't forget to abuse with Singularity until something is put on the banlist.
Archetypal SupportAfter a while, the TCG would stop releasing cards that has no theme and would focus on releasing cards that fit in or support an Archetype.
In Elements, each Element could be considered an Archetype. Examples for Light Archetypal support:
- [ Encouragement] [Permanent] - Light creatures gain Attack equal to the Health they heal. [Immaterial]
- [ Holy Angel Sanctuary] [Permanent] - Every time a creature restores (not gains!) Health points on your side of the field, summon a Halo Token (0|5). Each turn, you can destroy 2 Halo Tokens to summon a creature for free from your hand.
- [ Shining Ambassador] [Cost:0] [2|0] - When this card would be destroyed, put a Light creature from your deck to your hand, then shuffle this card into your deck.
- [ White Valkyrie] [Cost:15] [18|2] - Summon this card for free if there are no monsters on your side of the field. While this card is on the field, you cannot summon other monsters.
- [ Nova Burst] [Cost:2] [3|1] - When this card is destroyed, place 3 Photons on your side of the field.
- [ Burning Light] [Spell] - Add +9 Health to target, deal 1 damage to everything else (including both players).
- [ Rooting for the Underdog] [Spell] - Creatures on your side of the field that have only 1 Health gain +0|+1.
These archetypal cards would usually "support" each other as follows:
- Use Shining Ambassador to search White Valkyrie (first turn only) or Nova Burst/Guardian Angel.
- Summon Nova Burst and kill it with Burning Light or other means (Tribute-, Xyz-, and Fusion Summoning works too).
- Play Rooting for the Underdog and Encouragement.
- Start healing stuff with Guardian Angels to give them extra attack.
Hey, I didn't say archetypal support would always be useful. The game would be full of obsolete combos like this eventually.
