Any ideas for a reliable Hermes killer? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=8652.msg100470#msg100470

I've gotten him several times on the oracle, just end up bringing a standard rainbow and usually losing. RoL seems to do even worse. There must be a better deck to bring when he's been spoiled by the oracle. I'm thinking maybe something light-heavy, since miracle, sundial, and mirror shield all seem strong against him. Any ideas?

(death mark)

course it's not the best, but today it worked... (that oracle talks too much)

...or you can use a standard TU-Phshield deck with some quint+SoR(3-3 each), but that's even more risky

(aether mark)

good hunting...

The first deck is a hoax, its utterly worthless.
20 games tried vs hermes, none even close, he explodes all pillars and spams creatures, so  you cant play the cards you have and your hand is cramped and his creatures waste any shield at once.

But ive won vs scorpio and destiny with it with ease. Close on others.

i think the first deck (death/aether) needs a bit of tweaking, not a complete hoax
too many aether towers and not enough bone towers even though you'll only ever need aether for fractal
i've tried it twice and both times i i can totally see how it can rock if you got everything right
it is similar in concept to jmizzle7's anti-EP deck (death/wind)

Its is a sham, ive done 40 games vs him now in the real client, and after 3-5 turns he have at least 7 creatures on his side and have exploded 2-3 items. and a turn or two later he have 10 or more and he burns through your wall as it was nothing.
You only get off one fractal. Never the second one. If you do get off the second one all it takes is 2-3 turns before he is through your wall.

Btw tested this deck in the trainer. It won in 60-70% of the games. Obviously this deck cant stand for the real AI and the real RNG.

You could try protected phase shields + TU's.

Also, you could go with protected wings and EE's.

i like the idea of protected Phase Shield a lot more than Wings
i might try something like this the next time that oracle blabs about hermes :-

Code: [Select]
77i 77i 77i 77i 77i 77i 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 80b 80b 80b 80b 80b 80b 80d 80d 80d 80d 80d 80d 80h 80h 80h 80h
if he doesnt bolt you to death (need to bait his bolts with unquinted TU'ed golems) you should came out victor
i think

had hermes today from the oracle, this is the deck i used :-

Code: [Select]
592 592 77i 77i 77i 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 80b 80b 80b 80b 80b 80b 80d 80d 80d 80d 80d 80d 80h 80h 80h
i was 1 turn away from killing him (didnt draw my 3nd protect artifact)
guess i need 6 PAs after all but i see great potential with this deck (TU'ing 17/23 golem 4 times helps)
or maybe i should just let him explode my towers instead of protecting them (1st PA went to my towers) so that missing a PA on my shield wouldnt be as bad as it was, i dont know

quintessence seems totally unnecessary for me
i didnt draw any because by the time i TU his monster they're already big enough to withstand 2 RoF and 2 Bolts (with him putting 2 armor on the same biggest golem, that helps too)
maybe a couple of SoGs purely as explosion bait should help the deck a lot more

I was beating Hermes with my ROl deck! I know it's rubbish, but oh well. If Hermes won't draw his shield you have a shot. My rainbow deck also won only once.

Does this work?

Shards aren't overpowered, as long as you have them yourself.
