Patch Notes and Development News / Re: AI improvements

don't know if this has been posted, and don't know if it's even going to be addressed.....but I had 4 cards left against an L5...he just played wings against my fractal frog horde, nullifying them.  By waiting, I would deck out, AI wins.  Next turn he plays thorn shield, my frogs kill him, and I win.

How is thorn shield, blocking 1 damage and possibly poisoning my frogs, better than wings which cancels all but flying creatures, and I had none out?

I'd gladly join in the creative stages.  I've been around since early April and have seen this game go from 'fun side project' to 'overwhelming popularity' and I for one am VERY glad for it.  While I am not as active on the forums or chat room as some of the others, I do play nearly every day and have seen the changes from 'simple fun game' to 'expansive interactive community and game'.

I enjoy making maps, as my lone artistic expression.  I can send you some of the maps I've done for my novels (ok, so I can write a little bit) as an example of the kind of world maps I have done.  I am not great as far as city maps go, but I can definitely help someone create theirs.  If you need maps changed, adjusted or modified, that's no issue as I've got experience changing my own maps around due to changes caused by the narrative.  I am not a CODER, but I work primarily freehand and in Photoshop to create my maps.  I've no idea how to convert that into computer-speak.  :)

I can also help with writing (Native English speaker and my grammar and spelling are quite good).  I've got several short stories written and several novels in the work (none published yet), so I can provide a sample of my writing if you would like.

As an avid reader, I can safely say my work is not derivative and it is always unique.  I always try to stay away from cliche`, stereotypical plots and characters, and as a role-player with well over 20 years of experience, I can bring my unique characterizations to characters, NPC's, and cities/countrysides as needed.  I can modify and change my writing as needed, and I am used to collaborating artistic endeavors and coordinating groups of people to reach a common (often creative) goals.

If you're looking for 'idea men' who can come up with plots, characters, places, worlds, etc...I'm your man!

If you want a programmer, deck builder, number cruncher, or milkman, I'm afraid I won't be very good.

Decay / Re: Oracle : Decay

Steal targeting priority: Hourglass > SoG

Unless you get a terrible draw with no RoLs, Mirror Shield, and Hourglasses in the first a lot of cards while Decay manages to get a field of Devourers with eclipse, dying shouldn't really happen...
And sadly, my run with the deck happened exactly this way.  Got a devourer or two when I put down my ROL, he zapped it with drain life, and I never got the chance for my shield, let alone nightmare, since he fractaled his devourers, and I just watched the rest of the game.

Gemini / Re: Oracle : Gemini
« on: September 25, 2010, 02:25:41 pm »
needs some more decks that work well specifcally against Gemini

No rares or upgraded cards (Steals are for his electrocutors)
Make sure to keep enough healing on the table to counter his immortal creatures
Code: [Select]
4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5i4 5ig 5ig 5ig 5ig 5ig 5ig 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5up 5up

Tried the deck exactly as posted, completely unupped... and it worked really well    :)
Tried this deck against gemini....only thing upped were my obsidian towers and steals....EM'd gemini.

Antimatter + liquid shadow (I found out recently) FTW!

Gemini / Re: Oracle : Gemini

Strangely enough, I got Gemini from the Oracle, played a few Level 5 games to afford the above deck (without knowing that that would change which false god I played...), went up against Paradox... and still won in a nail-biter. Props to the deck!
FYI Playing an L5 won't change which FG you face.

with all the updates, (especially the artwork) this is one card I'd love to see in game.

1 damage to a creature, plus bleeding is a very nice little power.  Not dying in flooding and gaining defense is a beautiful counter for flooding, and appropriate to the idea of the card.

Not over powered, but versatile.

Well done.

Hermes / Re: Oracle : Hermes
« on: September 09, 2010, 12:03:05 pm »
so, burnone...

I just tried out your deck against Hermes.  And the logic of the reflection shield (for fire lance) is solid, and the antimatters and Liquid shadows make sense.

But how does one damage hermes to WIN said duel against him?

He had his lava golems out, and pumped, and I AM'd them...and I liquid shadows his other creatures.

So I got all healed up for a bit

But then his farenheight obliterated me.

It's a fast, neat deck, and I can see it has potential, but it definitely needs some adjustment before you can said it could have ANY sort of success against any of the FG's you listed.

Thanks for posting the deck suggestion, but fair warning to anyone ELSE who tries it - you'll need to make adjustments if you expect to actually win your challenge against Hermes.

Issue Archive / Re: Anitmatter fail? [confirmed]
« on: September 06, 2010, 12:51:57 am »
completely different type of antimatter fail today.

Had two vampires played.  Both were hit with antimatter.  The COUNTER says +-4, but my health went down by 4.  No healing occurred on my side.

Haven't tested it on anything with Liquid Shadow played on it, but I played a third vampire, got anti-mattered, same thing, now it's +-4 per vampire, but only the -4 for me, and the +4 for my opponent.

If it were going to be JUST -4 to me, should it read -4?  Or if it reads both, as I assume it's supposed to, then it should simply negate itself.

Right?  Or did I misunderstand the card intent?

just played a t50 game where the computer stopped using Mindgate when he got to 5 cards.  Used eternitity successfully (used up my steals) to force me to card out, but wouldn't use Mindgate for the extra cards from my deck.  He just sat there for 10 rounds reversing his skelly, which was effective, but with two mindgates the AI could have drawn from my deck numerous times - and had a LOT of mana to cast the cards with.

Eternal Phoenix / Re: Oracle : Eternal Phoenix
« on: August 30, 2010, 03:44:56 pm »
just had my first run of the vulture deck against Eternal Phoenix (Thanks Oracle!).  I have my bonewalls upped, and the rest was unupped.

Holy cow!

Last turn before he died, my vulture was a 60/55 my bone wall has 89 counters, I had a field fill of skelly's, and the processor stalled out trying to compute it all at once.

And then won an upped phoenix.  yay!

LOVE the vulture deck for EP now!

General Discussion / Re: RoL vs. BoL

i've used both, and while adding extra cards (momentum) can mean a quick, deadly creature, cremation is a fire deck, not gravity.   So I use both.
