General Discussion / Re: The Sundial Nerf: Analysis and Solutions
« on: January 29, 2010, 12:36:30 am »
A possible solution I considered was congeal.  It's a cheap card that draws from a mostly unused element (water) and helps delay sometimes substantial damage from big creatures (like Seism's shriekers).  In combination with Trident, you may be able to get some traction by stopping a god's development early (with good draw).  I have been running this deck for a bit and I don't know if my results are any better than with sundials, but it's a little different and picks up a different feel than a sundial rainbow.

Forgot about that. >.<"
(You know you play too much Elements when you forget that there are unupgraded versions of cards...>.<")
Cheer up Mr. Jellyfish!  You might want to turn around that lolbow once in a while... ;D

That makes more sense. Seems good, but lacks permanent control, aside from the Steal, unless you mutate something that can steal or destroy. I'd seriously consider switching that Shield out for a Pulverizer. o-o You'd most likely need to change your Mark to Earth or Gravity though.
With a pulv, no question it's grav.  Otys and Pulv pulling out of the Grav pile is going to whittle it down REAL fast.  There's only one card, Lava Golem, that uses Earth, shouldn't be too much trouble to save its ability to pay for the pulv.  Also, since we're not upgraded, don't forget the extra pulverizer ability costs...

What about making it an active skill, like you have to click on it to generate the quantas that you want?  And maybe if you don't use it, the quantums stack for use later?

Perhaps take out some things and add some Supernovas? Sure, they don't produce nearly as much over time, but because each one produces 22 quantum (subtracting the 2 Entropy cost from the original 24), that would still speed up the deck.
This is all starting to convince me of the futility of this card.  It only works for Quantam tower decks and now you point out that on one turn I could conceivably drop six novas for 132 more quanta and push myself over the top.  Cost ought to go up to a thousand, but I still think it is too geared toward the rainbow and not really a balanced addition to the game.

650 quantums is only about 55 each. I generally get that much if not more extras in a long battle with my variant of Scaredgirls FG deck, so it's not impossible.

What would suck is the AI using that card with the exponential quantum tower bug...
That occurred to me too, would definitely be a ball-breaker.  Rainbow would NOT be allowed to have that card.

I'm actually thinking that since I would pulverize or steal whatever he didn't protect, I'd probably win a lot more often.  Still, Gamerr has a point.  A more reasonable construction would have several hourglasses, several protect artifacts, sundials to build a pile of quantums and dissipation shields to take over after that.  I suspect mono-fire or poison or a number of non-rainbow decks could easily produce enough creature or spell damage fast enough to kill the opponent before enough quantums were accumulated, especially as you began to rely on the dissipation shields.

Better to make your mark time and include rewinds and eternities to keep your opponent's armies stymied and keep going as many turns as possible...

Plus he shouldn't have an attack- he doesn't attack, just makes the weapons!  :D
But, dwarves are very dangerous over short distances!

If you ever consider Parallel Universing a creature with dive, you should activate the ability first.  Thank me later.
