Rainbow Decks / Re: (1.24) CC? Why bother?
« on: December 09, 2010, 01:24:09 am »
What's the liquid shadow for? My guess is it's to put on chimera for EM, or is it primarily a defense against antimattered creatures? What matchup does it help with? Or is it purely EM?

I'm playing around with various builds, I think the chimera matchup helps a lot more than FFQ in winning -- tbh I've been playing around with mindgate over fractal (which I don't know if it's worth it) and I barely if ever need FFQ, but without FFQ is fractal worth it?

You're better off taking actual data for spins, because otherwise you're assuming there's an equal chance for every card -- zanz may or may not have stacked the odds in your favor/against your favor to adjust things.

Good work OP, now we just need a bigger sample size (:

General Discussion / Re: Built-in statistics tool for Elements?

Too many other WAY more important things to work on than a statistics tool, as someone said earlier, people who care about this stuff can calculate it themselves, let's get some much-needed improvements/additions in the game first before something like this is focused on.

General Discussion / Re: finding an Eternity for SG's FG killer

what do you mean by have enough money to get an eternity? i can buy it?

nah... the top50 now is all upgraded decks... hardly any farmable ones...
Ah sorry, didn't notice you were making an upgraded FG killer, thought you were making an upgraded one which would require a lot of time for the money to make it. I'd just grind some AI3 for awhile, and you'll eventually get one.

I think 2.4% would be the chance to get one if it were statistically sound, I'd say I'm rolling closer to one card every 5-7 games though.

That said, grinding AI5 is possibly the slowest of the methods, you're much better off grinding AI3 for straight money (life rush/grab rush are the best for doing this) and the occasional selling card, or taking a stab at AI4/Top50 for a chance for rares/more fun. It's up to you, though.

Chances are you'll win one/some before you actually have enough money to get an eternity. But the top50 might have a few in, play them a few times and see if anyone has it in their decks.

General Discussion / Re: An Introduction to Probability
« on: November 21, 2010, 02:10:42 am »
I think your definition of hypergeometric distributions is a bit muddled -- essentially the goal is expand upon nCr's where the population you're choosing from is dependent upon the the chooses made by the nCr process.

A bit more clear, an nCr of (20,4) is looking at the probability of pulling a specific 4 from a group of 20, so it considers every possibility (like the OP's nice table) to chug out a probability, however in reality once you choose the first object, you're now looking at (19,3), and so on. Hypergeometric distributions account for this, and require a population, sample (or amount you're drawing), number you require in the sample and the percentage chance that they're found in the population. From this, you have enough information to calculate the rolling "card deck" total.

In-game Troubleshooting / Validation Code didn't work
« on: November 18, 2010, 03:43:54 am »
Hello,

Just donated $10 (paypal confirmation: 6VK58059MN913884F), received a code; entered it into the game and it told me the server was unavailable. The validation button was gone so left and re-entered but now my code is invalid. Is there a way to receive this code again? I didn't want to post the code without being told I should but you can check that it was never claimed.

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Re: Tower Upgrades need to cost at $1,000
« on: November 17, 2010, 07:25:54 pm »
Having a deck that can go off one turn sooner as a result of upped pillars is not a small benefit. ;)

Though I can understand the desire to have pillars cost less when upgrading, I can also understand the impact upped pillars have on the game. All decks benefit greatly from having increased quanta. Being able to get a combo off or out rush your opponent depends on getting the quanta to do so thus pillars have a justifiable cost for upgrade.

But, if for some reason this were to go though, would I get a refund on the extra electrum I spent upgrading my 170+ pillars at 1500 a piece? (@ 500 rebated, that's 85,000 electrum refunded :P )
Yes but each upgrade doesn't drastically change the state of the game at all, infact id make the daring arguement i'd rather lower a cost of a card from say 5 to 6 (if its an important card) than upgrade a pillar. However, their impact in higher numbers can sometimes be more important than any other card in your deck being upgraded so its a tough call -- singularly one quantum isn't going to nearly impact the game as much as increasing someones attack/defense but their importance in higher quantities can't be denied
