Rainbow Decks / Re: PuppyChow's FG Rainbow
« on: May 24, 2010, 02:31:47 pm »
At 145 games in for 1.22, here's what it's looking like thus far, using PuppyChow's original deck...

Overall:
22 EMs+34 wins = 56 wins=38.62%
7 DOs+82 losses = 89 losses=61.38%

DOs (deckouts) were caused either because the Eternity was the last card in the deck, Eternity was destroyed by the FG (even when I played it as late as possible), or I ran out of time quanta.  I begin conserving time quanta (not using hourglass or abilities) as soon as I have control of the board, or by when I have 12 cards left, whichever comes first... For some gods, I conserve the steal specifically for a time quanta to help build up a pool early on as well.  7 DOs across 145 games represents a 4.83% chance of DO due to various reasons above.  The standard expected rate for DOs assuming you go through all your cards is 2.94% (1/34 cards), so in addition to the time quantum shortage and the possibility of having the Eternity either stolen or destroyed, it seems about right... A rewind or second eternity may reduce this issue, however it would also require even earlier conservation of quanta in order to play the cards... would be interesting to test, but 4.83% seems pretty low, and I expect the number to continue to decrease as I play more games.  As for the FGs:

Chaos Lord    (4-1) 80%
Dark Matter    (0-6) 0%
Decay            (0-7) 0%
Destiny            (3-1) 75%
Divine Glory    (0-5) 0%
Dream Catcher (3-4) 43%
Elidnis             (3-3) 50%
Eternal Phoenix(0-7) 0%
Ferox             (2-3) 40%
Fire Queen     (2-3) 40%
Gemini             (0-1) 0%
Graviton             (3-5) 38%
Hermes             (2-3) 40%
Incarnate     (7-3) 70%
Miracle             (2-3) 40%
Morte             (5-5) 50%
Neptune             (4-2) 67%
Obliterator     (1-8) 11%
Octane             (3-3) 50%
Osiris             (6-6) 50%
Paradox             (3-1) 75%
Rainbow             (0-5) 0%
Scorpio             (3-1) 75%
Seism             (0-3) 0%

Still plenty of testing that needs to be done, but between my stats and some of the other's that have posted, I'm getting a pretty good feel of which FGs you can dominate and which ones you can't.  I'll continue to play until I can have at least 10 games per each FG (240 games) to see what the numbers look like then.

Sorry, I know this topic is specific to discussion of utilization of the SoR card and whether it's OP or not, but how much must one donate in order to receive the card?  Or if I'm looking to test multiple copies in game (non-trainer), do I just donate multiple amounts?

My apologies for the semi-off topic post.

i actually tried replacing feral bonds with SoG and it didn't differ. you just seem to have less elemental master wins with SoG. so i can tell you to keep the feral bonds.

one other thing.. you don't easily deck out with this deck, so keeping eternity felt pointless. thus i removed eternity and added two quints and SoD. i get better win percentages this way.
I'm a bit surprised that an SoG vs. Feral Bonds makes no difference... 2 SoG's results in 10 life per turn, regardless of creatures out... so if you're stalling for key combination of cards (quint + oty, etc.) any damage you're taking will be reduced thanks to the SoGs.

With Feral Bonds, you need 5 creatures out to equal the healing you get from 1 SoG... I can see that in the late game, the Feral Bonds will help you establish EM, and be far more beneficial, but that's assuming you get to the late game phase and can stop any initial rush the FG's throw at you.  And by then, you should already have control of the board and no longer struggling...

SoG's are also MUCH cheaper to cast (2 random quanta), and could be cast much earlier to help eliminate any early round damage you're taking, while Feral Bonds (upped) cost 4 green quanta + the cost of casting creatures in order to utilize the bonds.  And the cheapest creature costs to build 5 creatures are:
Queen + 4 Fireflies is 15 quanta + 4 = 19 quanta
Oty+ 4 tasty enemies = 9 quanta + 4 = 13 quanta

The only thing I haven't considered is whether the 6 sundials and 2 antimatter create enough stall for the SoG's really not to matter?

Just some thoughts...

Rainbow Decks / Re: Fire Lance sudden killer (work with no ungrade)

Interesting strategy...  I'll want to add this to my testing list in the future, upped, and unupped to see how well it works...

Initial thoughts:

As you noted, permanent control FG's will clean the house with you by either wiping out towers or shields... so there's nearly no point in playing them at all.

With 9 towers, you'll be averaging a card every 3.444 cards, so utilizing that generalization, you'll end up with on average 120 fire quanta on your last draw (119 from towers and 1 from nova),  (2 quanta from your first turn, then adding an additional fire quanta generation every 3.44 cards you draw).

The cost of an unupped Fire Lance is 3 quanta, so the damage would result in:
Lance 1:     34 damage
Lance 2-4:  33 damage each
Lance 5-6:  30 damage each

Total damage: 195 damage.

You're a bit short, but assuming you get the Farenheit at 50% of the way though the deck (on average), you should more than make up for the 5 damage you're missing.  Again, this is only an "average" of how the will perform by the numbers...

I'm curious... why the Reflective Shield and Sundial?  It looks like the only reason Nova is in there is to activate those two cards, which takes up another card slot... do those two cards have some level of significance against specific FGs?

Btw, you mentioned that no upgrades are needed, but you have SoG's in the deck... so at least two upgrades are necessary if you feel that SoG's are key items...

Nice idea for a deck!  I'm curious to see some stats if you decide to test it rigorously...

Ive been getting even less. Worst thing is I sold my completely upped Ray of Light/Fractal deck to make it. Bad idea it was.. What am I doing wrong? Im getting like 25% win rate and many games I cant even play a serious card at all  (serious= Oty, Fallen) without it getting killed. (and in the rare event that I get my quint and monster both in my hand before being almost dead...

Im using almos exactly the same deck as on first page of this forum, simply 3 Towers arent upped yet.
I would say the deck is about a 35% to 40% win rate against the Gods.  As with any game, there's a lot of luck involved in terms of the draw you get, and the draw the FG you're playing against gets... but you'll need a strong understanding of card combinations are key in your deck against the FG you're playing against, and potential variations to help make the "right" decisions to improve your wins.  Also really important... knowing what item to wait to steal from the FG, as that can make/break your game.

I've only got 122 plays so far, so I'm about halfway done with testing.. ultimately, I want to have at least 10 games per FG to better understand the likelihood of winning, or 250 games+.

Assuming you don't have a bad draw (which are included in the stats above), the key thing to learn is that you need to effectively stall/speed up the deck if you don't have the right cards out.  Puppychow pointed out those combinations on an above post on this page.

I'm not going to go into a FG by FG tutorial, as Puppychow has kindly provided the basis for that already in the beginning of this thread, but I'll put up my strategy for Octane here since I currently have a 60% win rate and Octane for some reason isn't posted in PuppyChow's post.  (It's only 5 games, so this is far from a guarantee).  PuppyChow, please feel free to trim it down... I'm not good with brevity on first drafts.

Octane - Your biggest benefit here is using your fast draw to get to a Pulverizor as fast as possible.  Get a shield out to block out some of the creatures, preferably Ice shield (forgot name for a second) but if you don't have that, put up bonewalls to stall the creature damage as you get close to 50-70 HP.  The Pulverizor is your key weapon in damage prevention against Octane, as you will be destroying each Unstable Gas he puts out.  In fact, I would argue the Otugh combination is not the essential to surviving as it just eats up the quanta you need for getting rid of the Unstable Gas.  If you have a Steal in hand, save it until you absolutely need to use it, as sometimes Octane will play multiple Unstable Gases and you'll want to destroy one, and steal the other in that scenario.  If you don't have a Pulverizor out yet, and he plays Unstable Gas, go ahead and steal it... and save it for later to use.

Once you've established your Pulverizor and have saved enough quanta to play it every turn, then look to the otugh/druid combo in the attempt to create creatures with steal or destroy.  Both of these will relieve your Pulverizor of duties, and you can get back to the standard combo.  But being able to use the Pulverizor is far more important than eating a creature... no creature on his board will be doing 20 damage + hurting all your creature, so if you only have two quanta, save it for Pulverizor instead of eating a creature.

I'll hope to add some more specific strategies for the other FGs once I complete testing for this deck, and look forward to PuppyChow's thoughts as to whether I need to revamp some of the strategies I'm using to play my cards.

Thank you again, PuppyChow, for a great deck build.  Definitely a fun anti-FG deck!

why top 50 and not level 5?
Because some of the nicer top 50 players have "farms" set up so that you can automatically win the battle and shards to win as well.  You'll have to have 1500 electrum to upgrade the shard too, in order to get the SoG.

Sum of all the win rate, averaged out (for the FG you played any game in)

It has been vastly tested and this is more accurate
Thanks for the quick response!  I'm not sure I understand how this comes out to be more accurate, but I'll check the board and development history to see if I can get a better grasp... Appreciate the quick explanation behind the calculation!

Puppychow -

Nice deck and thanks for putting your idea out!  I've finally reached accomplished all the upgrades last week, and started tracking the performance of this deck.  For anyone that's interested, the results are here:

http://elementsstatistics.comxa.com/getstatistics.php?dv=4005244472

I only play a few games a day (10-20), so I'll hope to get this up to about 250-500 games before I switch over to testing a new deck for comparison...  I'm not sure if I've just been getting bad draws, or whether the 1.22 FG's are just that much smarter now, but I'm coming out at around a 40% win rate.

Thanks again for the idea, and I'll continue to use this deck for farming purposes, so the stats should continue to develop and become more accurate!

General Discussion / Re: Elements Statistics

Thanks for the phenomenal tool... it's been ridiculously useful in tracking the performance of decks at this point!

I did have a question about how it calculates the "win rate" currently...

Looking at my stats currently at: http://elementsstatistics.comxa.com/getstatistics.php?dv=4005244472

The deck has had 51 games played, with 20 total wins (10 EMs, 10 wins).  This should be resulting in a 39.21% overall win average, however the system is calculating 33%.  What's the nuance that I'm not understanding in the calculation?

Thanks in advance!

Interesting variant... a couple quick response to some of your strategies...

1) Deck Size-  The small decks to me don't allow for enough important cards to have a chance against every FG.  If the uneven number bothers you, remember that there are 52 cards in a deck of playing cards!  I wanted to have 50, but it just wasn't working as well.
I would disagree here... if you have a limited amount of cards, you'll more often hit the "key" cards that you need for the win... namely Quintessance+Oty and either Druid + Graveyard or Queen... more cards end up slowing down your chances of getting to these cards, and results in the need for more "stall" cards, which results in even less opportunity to hit the right combination for the win.

2) Fallen Elf is better than Faller Druid-  Elf is much more useful.  It can up your skellies in the end-game just fine, with the added benefit of making your opponent's creatures Otyugh edible... I don't get why everyone goes with the Druid.
I'd have to disagree... having used both the Fallen Elf and Druid, you'll find that the Druid helps the game move along significantly.  Elf, at best, creates a 5/5 abomination that has no skills.  Druid, however, creates creatures up that have up to 15 in damage and up to 20 in health, with all sorts of various skills (blaze, growth, steal, destroy, devour, immortality, freeze, etc.)  Essentially, you're building an army of other spells you can use repeatedly... not to mention the damage is on average much higher.  You can also mutate the opponents high hp creatures and likely get them weak enough for your oty to eat up.

4)Unupped Boneyard is better- cause its cheaper and skellies don't matter that much.
Agreed.  I think this is the general consensus...

It's an interesting variant of the the rainbow decks seen here, but I won't criticize it as I haven't actually played with it yet.  Just from my general experience with the game thus far, these are my two cents thrown in...

Thanks for posting the deck though!  Would be curious as to your stats with the deck over long term testing...

Just wanted to chime in that this deck has been fun thus far!  It's nice to be able to whomp on some FG's.  Thanks for the great deck idea ScaredGirl!

My win rate seems to be close to 25% of the time with upgrades to key 7, bonewall, steal, one feral bond, and nine towers.  Does that sound about right...?

I've begun to upgrade the pillars to towers, and am contemplating adding a shard for my next upgrade.

On a side note, I just had the worst draw I've ever gotten before... first 15 cards had no towers or pillars.  Eternal Phoenix cleaned me out pretty easily, with my only resistance being two sundials.   :(  Guess it's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes!

Thanks for the great deck build!

Newbie here (playing three days), but very addicted...

I've built out Scaredgirl's deck at this point, with the exception that I still have one golden hourglass (3x electrum hourglass, 1x druid, and 2x elite otughy).  Great deck thus far, and I've beaten about 5 of the gods consistently.

Looking for some advice, since I've got about 2K currently and want to get the best bang for the buck:

What the best way to improve my FG farming?

Up the last hourglass?
Add an SoG?
Up something defensive?  (Bonewall, phase shields?)
Adding a super nova?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
