Gold League Decks / My 3rd place deck
« on: November 17, 2011, 07:23:06 am »
Hi. I put up this deck 7 days ago. The highest I've seen it is at 3rd place. Here's the deck and stats.

Card: Emerald Dragon
Level: 57
HP: 155
Upped cards: 4/30
Mark: 2x
Draw: 2x

2x life pillar
2x life pendulum
1x emerald dragon
5x life tower
5x life pendulum
1x quantum tower
5x SoG
4x jade dragon
4x giant frog
4x elite cockatrice
1x jade staff
1x jade shield
Life mark

It's basically a Ferox-style beatdown and healing deck. I was surprised it would do so well when it's so simple (and Ferox is one of the easiest FG's) and I didn't even give it much thought.

After the octopus and inundation buff, I have tried this deck in the trainer. I have to say I'm not very impressed. It just doesn't work as great as on paper because it's so tight on quanta. In particular, I think the squids aren't worth it; they're too expensive and too easily killed for what they can do.

This is just like the Nymph Queen buff: it changes practically nothing.

Like others have already said, at least undo the nerf. It's not like it was that powerful at 6 :air ...

A much needed change imo. Now it's no longer ridiculously overcosted for what it does.

Isn't being able to cheat the point of having the trainer?

When it's possible to instant-kill with  :gravity or  :entropy :entropy, a 4-turn freeze that costs  :water :water :water is just pathetic in comparison...

IMO squids are not only too fragile, their skill cost is overpriced.

Damselfly has been changed in the Trainer again.  Its stats are now 2|1 with no cost.
That actually makes it worth using IMO. Air doesn't benefit much from quanta producers anyways, so being slightly stronger than the other quanta producing creatures shouldn't be a problem.

TBH, if you want a good quanta efficiency with dragons, jades are best combined with leaf dragon.
^^This.

Here's a deck you can use if you wish to explore the idea further.

This just won't work. Light Dragons take advantage of the huge  :light production from fractaled Rays. You don't have nearly as much  :fire production in your deck, so Ruby Dragons come out much slower.

Life / Re: Mitosis

Lemme start by joining the rare doesn't fix it mob.

One solution would be to either cut the ability cost in 1/2 and make it add the card to your hand, this fixes the flying weapon superpowered decks, and makes it susceptible to anti-fractal cards (dune scorp ftw).

Another idea would have it be a one time thing, but spawn 2 copied creatures. So 1 frog becomes 3, but then loses the mitosis ability. In addition, the daughter cells would be current copies of the card (so no abilities).

Sorry if anyone has already posted these idea, I didn't mean to steal them.
Except that there has yet to be a deck with this card that really IS op. People thought so at first, but it really wasnt after extensive playtesting. It was just a new mechanic that was originally thought to be too good.
Try this
Mark of life
6 drudic staves
5 animate weapons
6 mitosis
3 Adren
10 Life towers

Its OP'd
Try it yourself. Yeah sure, once you manage to start the combo, it's practically unstoppable and your healing will be through the roof. The problem is, it takes waaaaay too long to get to that point. Not to mention there's a surprisingly high chance that you'll find yourself doing nothing for several turns because you haven't drawn one of the pieces of the combo.

If you want to stall, it's much more viable to use SoGs backed up by permafrost shield, phase shield, sundials, or something like that.

From wikipedia, which is always right:

Quote
Although errors in mitosis are rare, the process may go wrong, especially during early cellular divisions in the zygote. Mitotic errors can be especially dangerous to the organism because future offspring from this parent cell will carry the same disorder.
Let there be a possibility to create an offspring with a "wrong" attack gene? Antimatter anyone? I can't say that it'll fully balance it, but creating mutants instead didn't seem like a solution either.
I don't think it's necessary to stay true to science to this degree.  :)
