 :air :gravity-Atmosphere because its held to the earth by the earths gravity-this one is quite difficult...gas giant?

 :air :light-(made up) Luxosphere! or 'above the clouds' ever seen the matrix?-in the middle of getting to the machine city they fly above the scorched sky and see for the first time...natural light. theyre high up in the air.

 :air :life-bioluminesence

 :air :time-stale air

 :darkness :earth-deep cavern tartarus

 :darkness :gravity-Black hole(already used, so neutron star?)- :gravity :light-white hole

 :darkness :time-doomsday/some sort of darkness-clock

 :life :entropy-evolution

also  ' :darkness :light-Shadow ' whys darkness dominant? How about penumbra?

Hmm we could add another column...so have a unique card for :quantum  :darkness/ :entropy...etc.

Next ideas-
 :aether :death-a super draining(death) bolt(Aether) that deals either Poison damgage or halves the creatures health.(at a cost of your own attributes? so a creature or 10 health?)-so a drain bolt

 :aether :earth-I read about a thing called a lodestone in the his dark materials trilogy-ill look it up. maybe that fantasy concept about a lynchpin between two universes or a immovable stone.

---

 :air :darkness-Flying monkey land? like the witches in the wizards of oz./ominous mists

 :air :death-bird flu?... :)), sorry thats not funny....stratospheric plague, atmosphere virus that sort of thingsomething transmitted in air...(Airborne pathogen
transmission(in medicine)- The term usually refers to the transmission of microorganisms directly from one person to another by one or more of the following means:

droplet contact - coughing or sneezing on another person
direct physical contact - touching an infected person, including sexual contact
indirect physical contact - usually by touching soil contamination or a contaminated surface
airborne transmission - if the microorganism can remain in the air for long periods
fecal-oral transmission - usually from contaminated food or water sources )

 :air :entropy-chaotic weather pattern-Art for that-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lorenz_attractor_yb.svg

EDIT:'A lodestone or loadstone is a naturally magnetized piece of the mineral magnetite. They are naturally occurring magnets, that attract pieces of iron. Ancient people first discovered the property of magnetism in lodestone...One theory suggests that lodestones are magnetized by the strong magnetic fields surrounding  :aether lightning bolts :aether. This is supported by the observation that they are mostly found at the surface of the Earth; not buried at great depth.'
Soung good? :) also i love the crystal forest art!

'Each of the Alethiometer's 36 symbols has a range of meanings. Below are the primary, secondary and tertiary symbol meanings.

Hourglass - Time, Death, change

Sun - Day, Authority, truth

Alpha and Omega - Finality, Process, inevitability

Marionette - Obedience, Submission, grace

Serpent - Evil, Guile, natural wisdom

Crucible -Alchemy, Craft, achieved wisdom

Anchor - Hope, Steadfastness, prevention

Angel - Messenger, Hierarchy, disobedience

Helmet - War, Protection, narrow vision

Beehive - Productive work, Sweetness, light

Moon - Chastity, Mystery, the uncanny

Madonna - Motherhood, The feminine, worship

Apple - Sin, Knowledge, vanity

Bird - The soul (the dæmon), Spring, marriage

Bread - Nourishment, Christ, sacrifice

Ant - Mechanical work, Diligence, tedium

Bull - Earth, Power, honesty

Candle - Fire, Faith, learning

Cornucopia - Wealth, Autumn, hospitality

Chameleon - Air, Greed, patience

Thunderbolt - Inspiration, Fate, chance

Dolphin - Water, Resurrection, succor

Walled Garden - Nature, Innocence, order

Tree - Firmness, Shelter, fertility

Wild Man - Wild man, The masculine, lust

Owl - Night, Winter, fear

Each symbol has one primary meaning and a range of subsidiary meanings, which are potentially infinite. However, the subsidiary meanings are all related by association to the primary meaning. So, for instance, the sun symbolizes :

Day, because it is during the day that we see the sun.
Authority, because the sun is the most powerful thing in the sky.
Truth, because by the sun's light we can see the true forms of things.
Kingship (or political authority of any kind), because the king is the sun around whom the court or the state revolves;
A Particular King Or Leader (in the context of a query to the alethiometer, it will be obvious which one is meant);
Phoebus Apollo, and thus rationality and the intellect, as opposed to the baser emotions;
Archery (Apollo's bow and arrows) and thence
The Power Of Administering Punishment At A Distance, including
Plague;
The Creative Arts (through Apollo's patronage of the nine Muses);
The Laurel (through Apollo's love for Daphne), and thence
Honor, Prizes, Fame, through Apollo's awarding of the laurel wreath;
Divination and Prophecy (through the Delphic Oracle);
Pastoral Husbandry (Apollo's flocks and herds), and thence
A Particular Farm, and thence
A Particular Beast;
Homosexual Love (Apollo's love for Hyacinthus);
Gold ... '

Thats what srafopedia says anyway. If anyone wants to make some up just say :)

ok well to start with in the 1st column

:aether :darkness-plane/realm of shadows

 :aether :death-Oath breaker(in greek mythology if the gods broke an oath sworn on the river styx they were destroyed) so death of an immortal

 :aether :earth-Ethreal gate?/orbit(quote from wiki:'In Aristotle's system aether had no qualities (was neither hot, cold, wet, or dry), was incapable of change (with the exception of change of place), and by its nature moved in circles.')

 :aether :fire-A fire that never goes out (shrine of vesta) or one that doesnt burn(sinai the burning bush in the bible) or a combo of lightning and fire(unfortunately ball lightning is already used)

 :aether :life-a being that exist on ethreal plane or a healing card...so a crystal forest or a being thats mind is preserved in a constant lightning storm

to quantum towers would surely make it random just how nymph tears works on a q.pillar? and one quantum one an actual element(eg  :darkness) then one is darkness and the other part is random so it chooses from the list
 :darkness :aether
 :darkness :air
 :darkness :death
 :darkness :earth
 :darkness :entropy
 :darkness :fire
 :darkness :gravity
 :darkness :life
 :darkness :light
 :darkness :time
 :darkness :water

ill post more in a bit :)
