In spite of all that... the 30 card aether deck recommended in the tutorial beat the level 3 AI more consistently. I found this interesting. But also really frustrating.
I find the level 4 AI nearly impossible (at least with aether). If they manage to put up a good shield (e.g.: the one that poisons your creatures, the one that effectively turns quana into hitpoints, the one that filters all damage less than X, or all creatures with more than X hitpoints), I'm toast.
I'd say take away the sparks and photons and fractals. They're not that efficient for taking up that much space in your deck. 6 dimensional shields, some immortals, dragons, or parallel universes for offense and the rest filled with aether pillars is a pretty solid mono aether deck good for AI3.
Exactly.
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,1190.0.html#post_aetherI found they were just getting in the way, taking up space and causing me to miss the cards I need.
It was really annoying to find out I'd tried every combination of aether only to find that it was close to the opening 30 cards that worked best.
And even then, I went from winning less than 20% against level 3, to winning less than 20% against level 4, with no chance of getting any upgrades.
My best guess: they rebalanced the game so you pretty much HAVE to buy cards to have fun.
