Card Art / Re: Alternative Card Art (by Zules)

So as you guys have probably guessed, I'm really more of a cute art type of gal. It's pretty much all I draw. That doesn't always work for Elements, though, so I'm trying to expand my style to fit some of the less cute card concepts.

Here's my try at Werewolf. I'm honestly not sure if it's good or bad anymore (if I try too hard at a piece of art, it's usually hit or miss and I mostly can't tell until the next day when my eyes are fresh.)

First request then x)
A giant bird (maybe include a reference for size), flying. That's it, i hope you will be inspired :)
Okay! I'll give it some thought  :)

Your art is awesome! That arctic octopus is my favorite because it looks very realistic. The otyugh is cute, but not elements-ish. The bunny art is really cool too.
Thank you  :) I'm glad you liked the arctic octopus and bunny.

I would so buy/donate for any new foil cards (I already bought two of the chimeras) :3 I think the rare art concept is so cool
I would like it if these so called "foil" cards actually had the MTGO foil effect or something similar. As is they're only alt art, not foil at all.
I only call them foil cards because that's the term I've seen other people use here. XD
What is the MTGO foil effect like?

The art style looks familiar for some reason.
I'm not completely giving into the style, but that Octopus got me. (I got confused with the Otyugh,  I thought it was playing a piano - I'm not even going to try to explain).

But if it meant we got upped/unupped variety, I'd be keen. I think thats one of the most rewarding things about upgrading cards - and its just better. The card arts definitely work. Fit with the background, and what I think of the creature.
Good work man!
I did a couple pieces here back in November. Maybe you saw the bunny | war bunny card art (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,15234.0.html)?
And haha, yeah, I think the Otyugh was a failed experiment here.
Thanks :)

The Arctic Squid could in instant replace the current game art. Your art is awesome.
Wow thank you!  :D That means a lot.

Can i put art requests for you here? :3
Sure :) But know that there's a big chance I won't end up doing the request. It all depends on the time I have for art, if I think I can do a good job at your idea or not, and if I have the inspiration for it.

I'm not trying to be snooty/choosey or anything... It's just that card art usually takes me a couple of hours or more to get right, so I have to commit a lot of time and effort in advance if I agree to do something.

Your art looks far cuter than anything in game. For some cards (specifically the Pegasus), this really works but for others (the Otyugh) it simply doesn't.
Yeah, I think I agree with you there XD Thanks.

I wish zanzarino would do more donations for alternate art.

I would definitely give $5 for the Pegasus card.
I would so buy/donate for any new foil cards (I already bought two of the chimeras) :3 I think the rare art concept is so cool

Not necessarily, but it's generally frowned upon (though somewhat encouraged in the Decks and CIA sections) and repeated necro-posting could lead to warnings.

Also, even though I agree your art isn't 'Element-esque', neither is some of the art found in the CIA section. You should lurk the 'Request Card Art Here!' thread and give replies :)
Okay, thanks for the info. :) So I should be okay here in this CIA thread if I have some new art a month or two later and post it?

I love your art. I'm officially a fan. Who knows Zules, maybe your style could eventually become ---the--- Elements style if you keep at it.

I have some card ideas that would love your art. A good artist couldn't have come at a better time.

+ rep for trying and majorly succeeding.
Wow thank you  :D
If you have any card art requests, feel free to PM me, but I cannot guarantee that I'll end up doing the idea(s) (it all depends on free time and if I think I could do a good take on the idea or not XP)

Thank you for the positive feedback  :)

I have to say, one of the reasons I really like the Pokemon TCG is because of the huge variety of style in its art. But they have a huge number of cards, so I can see how a more uniform style is probably better for Elements.

I made a few alternative art pieces for some existing cards.

I think Elements should have more variation in its art :D Like more unupped/upped art differences and/or more special foil cards.

My art probably isn't completely up to par to be added into the game, but it's fun to try at the very least XD

Pegasus:

Arctic Octopus:

Otyugh:
(I made this before seeing vrt's awesome art, so now I feel a bit embarrassed posting this one XD Although mine's meant to be more "aww-look-that-cute-mutant-thing's-gonna-eat-me!" than realistic)
Werewolf (added 8/31/11)

I might make some more attempts later. If I do, I'll post them here (Also, I'm having a hard time finding the forum rules [the link I found in the Forum FAQ thread seems to be broken]. Is there a nerco-posting cutoff time limit here?)

I want to confirm that I made the art for Drobbit. :)

Shouldn't the war bunny say "A War Bunny appears in your hand." or did I understand the notes wrong?

And glad the art is being used for now.  :)

Yes, I created the art for FOX74647. So of course he has permission to use it. Just wanted to post here to make sure that was cleared up.  :D

wow Zules you have art skills! I love the picture!

It is a little cartoon like compared to current elements cards but you did a great job on it.

What do you make your art with? I want to be like you... haha
Thank you. I made it with a Wacom tablet and the program Paint Tool SAI. : )

Not a bit grumpy! ::) It's a war bunny, not your average pet :P
Haha, yeah xD I guess I was going more for "breeding bunny" than "war bunny." My bad XD

Spoiler'd due to multiple images:

I noticed this card was on the Request Card Art thread, so I gave some art for it a try.

Although I noticed when I put it into the life card border, it might look better with the colors adjusted one way or the other.

(I didn't use the template for these so the attack/hp numbers are covered up.)

But yeah xD Feel free to use the art if you'd like.

What the crap?  Assuming you made that art, that looks amazing.
Yes, I made it in a program called Paint Tool SAI. And thank you : )

2 things...
1: your right, that wasn't what i had in mind
2: it's brilliant. i'll use it!  ;D

thanks!
Thanks, enjoy : )

Card Art / Re: card art is required please (with sugar on top)
« on: November 20, 2010, 06:45:49 pm »
I thought of it as the caster burning up in the flames and then being reborn anew (sort of phoenix-themed, I guess).

Maybe the card would always bring you to a certain amount of HP (like 50 or something) no matter what your health is currently or how much your max health is.

But I don't know XD I just drew the art. And I'm pretty new to the game so I don't have a very good grasp on how powerful each element is.
