Hah, I just noticed. I'm a dork.

False Gods / False God Option
« on: July 03, 2011, 12:18:09 am »
The False God option has disappeared from my quest window, leaving only upgrading cards.
I've done a search for any mention of this happening to others and came up empty.
Anyone know why the disappearance occurred?

A final update.
I got an email from Mr. Zanzarino tonight and he more than fixed the problem.
It was very kind of him and I appreciate it.
Thanks to the folks who tried to be helpful along the way.

In-game Troubleshooting / Code Invalid Update

Since the original thread was locked, I had to start this to update things.

Despite some kind messages and suggestions at things to try from some other folks here, i.e. emails, messages to admins and some other things, the original problem of loss of a code still remains.

I've pretty much written off any hope of having it corrected, so all I can say is caveat emptor.

Let the hateful responses commence.

General Discussion / Re: Elements FAQ
« on: June 14, 2011, 05:02:29 pm »
I have never been able to get the rules of the game link to work. It just takes me to a white screen.
As a consequence, I've never been able to get a list of abilities and what they do or even the basic rules for the game. I've pretty much figured out a lot on my own, but some abilities I'm still not sure about.

This is odd, because I see no other mention of not being able to access the rules by anyone else. I can't be the only one with this problem.

Where does it say in the message requesting donations and offering a card to "check the forum first."

Oh, it doesn't. Sorry I'm not psychic.
Of course it doesn't. But simple, common sense would tell you to make sure you know all the consequences of what you're doing before you do it. Just come onto the forums and search for 'donation', or even pop into chat and ask how it can go wrong.

Quote
That's more helpful. But all this could have been said after my first post.
Had that happened, my second frustrated post after three days of feeling as if it made no difference might not have happened.
Secondly, telling me to email (which I did before I made the first post) and then saying it won't get answered by a human is a bit silly.
What is also silly here is that you're not paying attention to the key words 'try', 'but', and 'currently'. If you see those words, it means that it could be a solution when he removes the filter, just not now.

Thirdly, if you're going to put things out to the public and actively ask for money, you have an obligation to pay attention to the same public.
If he doesn't have time himself, he should get someone to help.
He does not 'actively ask for money'. He has a donation system set up, ture, but he does not require any money at all to play the game. And he has plenty of time, which he would likely rather spend on improving the game for all the players. Why should he help you and not the person who refreshed his browser by accident before he clicked on his mark from a tourney win, for example?his

The funny thing is, all of you got pretty pissy because I was not happy a problem I had has been unaddressed.
Ironic statement, considering you're the one who's being pissy about getting a clear response to your 'problem'. I gave you the facts and you think it's cute to respond to it like I know nothing. See how it feels?

Try figuring out a way to help rather than blame the person with the problem in future.
Not a one of you had a single thing to say before I became critical, so I don't have a lot of faith in your ability to be fair and open minded about all this.
That is the single way you even can get help with this problem, is by contacting Zanz himself. Posting on the forums will inform us regular players who can try to help you, but we ourselves cannot do anything. How that isn't clear I will never understand.

It is plenty fair that when someone inputs a reward code they can't put it in again, is it not. That system is in place so that the same code cannot be used twice.

Quote
The fact is, it's only $5, but it won't be more from me nor will I change my recommendation to others to not donate. Especially not when not a person bothered to try and fix it before I expressed my disappointment in it's non-solution. Heh, or even after for that matter.
As I said, the only, single person who can solve your dilemma is Zanz himself. I am nothing but a person who plays the game. If I could help you myself I would. And like I also said, Zanz is a very busy person.

Quote
For my $5 and time, it seems all I get is nastiness and condemnation.
Lovely experience, thanks.
I'm honestly not trying to be critical, I'm trying to give you the outright facts. There are some things that can be fixed and somethings that can't. Your problem here likely can, given time, patience, and the one person who can help you being informed of the matter.

And BTW, my connection was fine, it was the game server that was messed up. I had no connection problems anywhere else at that time.

Hey, maybe you can find even more reasons to make this all my fault.
It's possible your connection, or even the game's server, conked out for just a short amount of time. Long enough for you to get the error message and not be able to place in the code again. And yes, there are several ways a person can screw this process up...which leads right back to my first point.

That said, if I see Zanz (and when he's ready to release a new patch I likely will) I will tell him of your issue and hopefully he will come around to help you.
That's progress at least.
Had a similar response been made after my first post, rather than 3 days of feeling as if no one cared to address my problem, it's likely the second post would not have occurred.
I don't think the designer set out to screw me and I've never suggested that, but I do feel a level of care is in order if you put something out to the public, free or not.
Anyway, thanks in advance if you bring this to his attention and we can get this resolved.

Even more pissiness and condemnation.
An excellent way to make others think this is a good place to come and a good game to play.

This is a cut and paste of what it tells you when you click on the donate button:
Elements. A donation of $5 or more will be rewarded with a gift card

So yes, one should expect a promise to be honored. And that's not an optional or conditional statement.

So I got my code, but not my gift card.

As far as "not thinking?"
Are you cracked? Everything in our lives should be checked out at a forum, even if presented in a simple and easy to understand fashion?
That's the most arrogant statement on this whole page.

I hope your shower went well.

If you bothered to check the forums before entering your code instead of afterwards, you wouldn't have this problem.

You can trying emailing game.elements@gmail.com. But Zanz currently has it set to an automated message because he gets hundreds of emails a day.

Lastly, Zanz is the only 'power that be' in this game, and he doesn't check forums often because he's busy making the game better for the community as a whole, not one player who didn't check their connection before entering a code.

Ok, I would tend to assume one of two things, neither good.

Either the powers that be don't read their problems thread or they do, but don't really feel the need to address a legitimate problem.
Either way, I'd recommend not donating to others.

I donated through Paypal. I went to the validation screen and put the code in. It said could not connect to server, try later. I came back and now it says the code is invalid.
Feeling a little ripped off right now.
