General Discussion / Re: I'm awesome! I have 12 of every card!
« on: January 28, 2011, 11:25:25 pm »
I have 985 total upgraded cards, I go for 14 of each tower(except 25 quantum, and 18 Aether) and 10 of each pendulum.  Most decks I make will be 30 cards, and 14 towers is almost half which I find to be plenty for most decks.

Water / Re: Steam Machine | Steam Machine

I use one of these in place of only using Lava Destroyers in my FG decks.  In the long run the Steam Machine does more damage(although requires more quantum), plus it  can survive easier off the bat, I've had it soak up 8 drain lifes, 3 firebolts, etc.

Ah, I missed that thread... I wonder which algorithm would be preferable, a calculation based on turns taken may be less influenced by luck than an electrum-based calculation.

In this thread, people will post their T50 farmers which they believe win matches the fastest and most efficiently.  To enter the contest, you MUST give stats!  Here is how you give stats...

Do 100 t50 games, and track the average number of your turns it takes to win.  Also track the number of losses.  We will then average out which deck kills in the least amount of turns, on average.

Losses will be incorporated into that average by being given a value of likely 10-20 turns, a penalty for the time wasted, in addition to the lost rating and money.  It's not set in stone yet, but it will be quite detrimental to your average, that's for sure. So, here's an example calculation:

Match 1: 4 turn win
Match 2: 6 turn win
Match 3: 5 turn win
Match 4: 5 turn win
Match 5:  Loss (15 turn penalty)

35/5 = 7 turn average.

Feel free to post your deck before you finish your testing, either for feedback, or for other people to test it.  But to enter into the contest officially you must do 100 matches and track the losses and number of turns to win.

Good Luck!

Round 1 / Re: killfer8 2-0 Levgre ( Levgree)

Here's the deck.

Freezing the vamps was in no way a silly move.  Freezing them stopped 3 attacks by them, meaning preventing (about) 9 damage to me, and 9 damage being healed to him, or an 18 health swing for 3 water quantum.

In games 2 and 3 I suffered from Dragon overdose, 2nd game I had 6 dragons in my hand at one point and only drew 1 water pillar initially, I think I only managed to play 1-2 by the end of the game.  Had no chance this game.

In game 3 I could've won if I drew a single lobo guy, because I could have stopped the healing from the vamps.  Unfortunately again I drew all 6 dragons, and was only able to play 2 by games end.

I lost.

First game, he didn't play creatures really, rolled over him.

Second game, I only drew 1 water pillar, at one point I had 6 ice dragons in my hand.  I ended up drawing some pillars and recovered, but wasn't able to slow down his adrenalined vamps enough.

3rd game, I drew a decent amount of pillars, but still died from dragon overkill.  I drew all 6 and had 4 in my hand when I died, I didn't get any lobo guys, just squids and dragons, so I couldn't remove the vamp ability from his adrenalined vampires.   I was freezing two adren-vamps every turn, and they still healed  him for 3 each turn.  If I didn't freeze them they'd heal for 10+ health each.  If I had drawn 1 lobo guy I almost surely would have one, but couldn't damage him fast enough with all his healing.

I think some icebolts could've worked well in the deck, although he would've just stole iceshields from me.

PvP Tournaments / Re: Tournament Feedback
« on: May 29, 2010, 05:25:28 am »
I have more feedback on the tournament.  Terroking failed in his responsibility as a tournament hoster, and the criteria for signing up for the tournament needs to be clarified, because...

I signed up for the tournament in the sign up thread.
I was in the chat 5 minutes BEFORE tournament start.
Yet, Terroking didn't let me be in the tournament because I didn't see an respond to his query in the jumbled chat with dozens of lines.

Apparently it was required I watched the chat and read all the messages to help Terroking do his job of figuring out who in the chat room was there.

But there is NOTHING in the rules about having to answer a roll call at tournament start, just that you have to sign up and be in the chat room.  IF you WANT to require a roll-call, add it to the rules so people actually know!

He could have even sent me a private message in chat.  He did no such thing.

Either change the rules requiring a roll call, or don't let people like Terroking host who add these arbitrary rules for registering in a tournament and don't even send a private chat message to the people he is trying to figure out are there.

I spent an hour waiting and preparing decks, and that time was wasted, because Terroking was too inflexible and not thorough.  The manager of the tournament is supposed to be the organizer, so follow the rules or send a private chat message.  I was reading the chat but not following it closely..

Why do you think it shouldn't be increased, other than you think the current prizes are "fine"?  Even if you are fine with the current prizes, would you also be fine with increased prizes.

My argument is that the electrum prizes fall far short of normal elements play, considering the time investment that goes into tournaments.  I think special events, even though they aren't special 'because' of the prizes, should have prizes that are exciting, so to speak.  As of now they are sort of just consolation prizes, not at all lucrative but more a "thanks for participating".

My suggestion is to increase electrum prizes.  I believe that the only prize that really stands out is 1st place, since you get a rare card.

Consider a tournament takes 2 hours... if you farm false gods, in 2 hours you can easily earn 6k-10k.  That means that these special event tournaments are less lucrative for the winners than normal farming. (then of course if you don't get top4 you get nothing)

So I suggest increasing each electrum prize by a thousand or a couple thousand.  I still think that would be completely reasonable and balanced.

Puppychow or I may have the most nymphs from the oracle so far.. I've got

1 :entropy
:death
2 :life
2 :fire
1 :water
1 :light
1 :air
2 :time

Total of 11, 8 of 12 elements.

But honestly I use very few of them... and  I don't have any Auburn or Gravity, which may be the best ones.

How long do we have for testing left?  I 'll try to make some decks today, although I generally trust the deckbuilders here to do well :p so otherwise I am fine just playing whatever is made.
