General Discussion / Re: Spin vs Spin All

IIRC, The difference is that "Spin" recycles the cards in the slots for each spin, while "Spin All" uses the same set of cards in the slots for all spins.

One of the things I disliked heavily about many of the entropy rainbows is the instability of it. While this deck does run quite a fair bit of redundant cards and copies of cards, overall, I prefer it because it is more stable.

Case in point, I had a game against Miracle with Miracle having a 24/24 dragon. Permafrost froze it and if I did not have 3 Hourglasses on the field, there would have been no way for me to finish that match with EM. I'd like to see you try that with a 33-card Entropy Rainbow.

Some of the changes I've made:

-2 Supernovas, +2 Quantum Towers

I found that sometimes, I often had only 1 tower in my hand, which is frustrating. I did not find the SuperNovas very useful sometimes.

I'm contemplating taking out all the Super Novas for 1 unup'd boneyard and either Butterfly over Pulverizer or another Druid. I personally don't want to use the FFQ, because I find that, in many cases, especially with the new gods (Osiris, for example), it simply isn't all that helpful anymore.

Made some changes. This is what happens:

Just a small suggestion, I added a picture larger than the size said and it overflowed the screen.  Now I'm not normally that stupid to do such a thing, but someone else may try, and I just wanted to let you know.
If you really want to challenge yourself Planplan, make it possible to crop and resize pictures in the card generator itself. :)

Three Otyughs? Do you think that maybe that's a little too much?
Drawing one at turn 10 instead of turn 20 is relatively significant.

Going to try this deck with two unupgraded BoneYards instead, eventually. >.>

Haven't played a lot of games with it, admittedly, but I am, so far, very happy with how it works. I bet as I play against the harder gods, my opinion of this deck will change significantly, but we'll see.

Essentially, this is a mixture of the different styles of rainbows hovering around. I found that Puppy, Yala and SG have unique styles in their respective rainbows, and I decided to pick out on the best of each of these decks.

A standard 40 card deck with a lot of redundancies. One could argue that the redundant cards only make the deck weaker, but what I am trying to do is to create a situation where you are less likely to not get the card you want. 2 PAs help significantly against gods like Seism, Graviton and Obliterator, while lending you a greater sense of security against gods like Decay with steal. I am not too sure how significant having 2 PAs are (in many cases I suppose one is more than enough. You could swap one out for a FFQ if you wish)

2 RoF + 2 Bonewall lets you stall a little longer, as well as to let you draw a combination like this faster to get up better defences. The double RoF also makes it possible for you to Duo-RoF Decay when he has a full field of Pests, as well as to do so against Hermes and other hard gods. It also makes it more likely to draw a RoF when you have a quinted Oty out against gods like Hermes and Graviton.

The main core strategy of this deck is to try and generate skeletons, or to gain control of the board as fast as possible. Admittedly there are little to no means of getting damage out easily, so feel free to add a FFQ. Although I have often found it sufficient to use Eternity to prevent deck outs while slowly waiting for a chance to mutate a skeleton.

Note that the deck above, in that form, Cannot beat Divine Glory. It is also unlikely to fare well against Eternal Phoenix, Rainbow and Darkmatter.

Some tweaks that you could try include:

-1 PA, +1 FFQ

-1 Pulvy, +1 Butterfly

I haven't, honestly, tested this deck extensively, but I just wanted to share it.

So many redundant towers. :P

Why not pack more than one PA to go against Seism?

It seems that the Death Nymph is quite crucial to the deck. Air Nymph aids damage, but if you add maybe 1 time tower instead of a QT and use Eternity to consistently rewind...

A lot of ways to go with this deck. I would suggest the possibilities of using more than 1 Fallen Druid, as well as to throw in an Aflatoxin, or some other cheap 1 defense shields (Jade/Mirror).

A lot of unused quanta though. Flying Farenheit, maybe?

Scorpio and Morte are quite easy unless they draw an early Arsenic. Especially if you put an early permafrost.
It is bad luck.
In one battle against Morte, I had managed to get up a Butterfly running. He had 3 arsenics. -.-"

The statistics do not count every game though. I've tried to be a bit more objective and did not count games where I lost as a result of silly errors on my part and stupid risk judgement instead of the limitations of the deck itself.

Some observations:

Osiris: You're not going to easily outdamage and break his health. Keep Permafrost shield up and just stall until he decks out. Its the most efficient and conservative way to beat him.

Gemini: Hard. You better hope you have a means to stop him playing gravity towers. Without the druid, you are completely stuck either rewinding his momentumed dragons or not letting him play them at all. He has no creature control, but you must quint your oty's at the very least. If he plays a lobo with a few grav towers in play, it's effectively Game Over if you can't draw your required quints fast.

Decay: Plain nightmare. Hold on to some supernovas if needed just to let you use eternity to rewind a bit and try to make him deck out. Hard, purely because it is nigh difficult to get enough quanta using only 8 QTs and 6 SNs. If you can get early creature control, that's best, but I haven't had such luck.

Neptune: IMHO, a joke. Absolute joke. Easier than Fire Queen, so far, anyway.

Elidnis: Same thing with Gemini. Don't let him play any Sapphire or Aether towers and you should be fine.

My current verdict is that not one deck would be able to handle the Gods horribly effectively anymore. It takes a significant amount of luck to get a consistent win rate using smallish decks. It seems to me that the Death Nymph deck that Yala is working on has better promise, as well as the RoL-hope deck and fatter Timebows. While I agree the Gods should be hard, this is just ludicrous. They are not as affected by the changes in quanta costs for cards than players are.

We'll see. I suppose I'm still improving slowly over time with handling the deck, but it is still being very frustrating luck-wise for me. Sometimes I'm 1 quanta short of using a Miracle. 3 turns straight. -.-"

Would it not be better to use a Jade Shield or Mirror Shield for instant Reflect + indesctructable?

I personally have 2 death nymphs (o.O) but no air ones. Damage would probably have to come from using the fallen druid mutations, so having maybe another 1 to draw early won't hurt.

I suppose an alternative to air nymphs (that not all of us have) would be to pack in some retrovirii or like cards for the AoE damage. A fat bonewall helps a lot against gods with bonds, while a Jade Shield helps against gods without (just fill their boards with malignent cells)

Seems like an interesting idea. :)

The curious thing about hourglasses is that odds are, you probably do not need it all the time anyway. In fact, I'm debating about the requirement for it. While it helps so significantly in the deck, odds are I'm more needing to draw other cards and not the hourglass.

Game Suggestions and Feedback / Re: Minor Phoenix Is Overpowered.
« on: April 18, 2010, 08:24:07 am »
Minor Phoenix is not overpowered.

Eternal Phoenix is extremely tough PURELY because of the 3X aether mark, removing every and all need for Aether towers. Being able to cast Fractal by turn 3/4 is a lot tougher to counter than only casting it after 7-8 turns.

Rainbow Decks / Re: Its a scarab deck
« on: April 18, 2010, 02:26:33 am »
Why use PU's when you can just spam a Fractal or 3/4? Why throw in a Pharoah and use 6 scarabs?

a 40 card deck revolving around pharoah usage and anubis would seem a lot more optimal.

Of course, if you have fun using this deck, then good for you. :)
