OK shit, Aether wants to swap too.

This obviously was a very good idea, but now we have 3 teams, and only two which can swap. Also, I'd rather not screw either of the teams over - so we should pick quickly and try to minimise any damage.

Just tell whichever team that we can't go with that we misunderstood the event card and that it is impossible, some clever member of team air just pointed out that it wouldn't work to our great sadness. They'll know if they explore our secret section  (Hi guys!)  but at that point in time, nobody cares - and they'll know our situation.

I agree completely with TF here, we want to save that light duo for as long as possible, in this round there is at least an element of surprise - we don't want to lose it on an off chance and be pretty screwed against entropy (which is the team that we are most likely to vs again unfortunately)

We should probably make an effort to figure out what entropy will be sending against light. Vamps are dangerous (antimatters), but they will probably take the stall against darkness - there is still the lycan one to be worried about there. Discords/Pandemoniums are unlikely because Light can counter them both (sanctuary, angels), but antimatters seem kinda likely to me, Light always plays creatures, and have just lost their RoL Hope. The darkness duo is a little iffy, but if we play it without vamps, or with a few of them so they can be held for emergencies without clogging the hands. (Vamp daggers are allright, PC is possible since Light did win with Dimshields last round - worth putting in though)

Thats my inconsice opinion, and it may be wrong, its just what I think I guess.

(Good call on the Fog Legit)

I hate to let go of the life duo, because I built it with my heart, but these decks are pretty pillar heavy, and I'm not sure about how strong it is.
I should have some time tomorrow to do some basic testing of it, as well as the aether/air duo - if we could figure out how many fractals/Wyrms/Dragons was perfect, that would probably be a good thing :)

We will switch with you.

Ok, we've been gifted an extra day in this round (and duelling too) because of the event card, and some holiday that I'm sure has no importance to anyone :P

No response yet from Aether or Darkness. Now that I think about it, Light does have Phoenixes/Angels, which aren't known to be susceptible to Pandemonium - but I don't know how many deals we want to start that we can't keep. (If we could swap with one and the other two could swap together, but Higs mentioned another deal)

I figure it can't hurt to have a basic idea of where we are right now.

this against  :time then... probably should be modded to be better. Maybe - shockwave + fog, unless we want 3 fogs in the other deck.

And against death... I'm a little confused.
I'm not good at elements, I'm just not seeing why the darkness duo would be a particularly good choice?

Ugh
I found out we can only swap one match so I'm afraid we can't (already agreed on a swap), I heard Death and Light were looking for an Entropy/Entropy swap earlier though.

Yay
So the plan is to swap :light majofa and :air DrunkDestroyer ?
waiting on confirmation from  :light (likely) and  :aether (probably not) now, so we should be in a good position.

I'd just like to say that I have officially finished what I have started. I'm a little past the deadline, so I don't mind not getting the upped cards benefit in the final Duel vs Noobiecakes, although I'm sure I'll rage about that later if I lose to Noobiecakes  ;)

The Arena / Arena Deck Appreciation Thread
« on: November 22, 2011, 08:28:55 pm »
Originally, I had the idea of having a thread where whenever we see a well known forumer (or unknown, I'm not picky) submitting a Firestall, or other lame decks to Arena, and we all group together and call them names otherwise abuse them over the internet.

But that never happened, because quite frankly we'd be up all night trying to individually abuse each and every member who did this, and they'd just be sitting there, thinking "Well, they don't like me, but I have a lot of electrum, and money can buy anything, right?"

So instead, this is a deck appreciation thread. When you come up against a deck that at a certain point in the game impresses you, or makes you think 'Wow', that's awesome, you can put it right here, as a little congratulatory moment, letting them and you know that you appreciate their originality and thought.

I grind Gold League, and it is possibly the most irritating to ever try, since you can be kicked out after 2 losses, so everyone tends to revert straight back to Speedbow #2 without even looking at the wise words of the Oracle, or even the pictures!

Luckily for the purpouses of this thread, the first original deck I came up against was actually someone well known here (well, actually, I don't think anybody knows him, but he posts things sometimes, and one day I promise to read one of them)

I can imagine how screwed I would have been here if UGs registered in the AI's mental yellow bar thing. Respect for the 28 | 28 Unupped Golden Dragon!

Now, this next one was chosen, partly because of the awesome name, but also because it was fun to play against.

Something that doesn't show here was the reason that this got up, I was too slow in screenshotting it. That is, Sky Blitz. (The quints on their creatures are to prevent the attack doubling, I was very worried of running out of DimShields before I drew a cremation. After that point, I held on a while to see what it would do, and if I could catch another Blitz, but apparently not). This was also the first deck I saw using air, so I had to at least make a smile.

Somewhere, far far away, I do a little dance whenever I come across a Mono Air deck

Now, I can only play arena so much, and I don't do too much variation between the leagues, so I'm sure there are a lot of awesome decks I am missing, and not appreciating.
So, the responsibility falls on everyone else too, when you come across a fun and original deck in Arena, you're gonna have to screenshot it, and hope they wander across this thread and feel that little flutter in their stomachs when they know other people appreciate their work and effort.

 :)

Logic says that we should be using Wyrms against time (perform better against RTs), and dragons against death (plagues/speedbow cards) and a split in entropy I guess (chaos seeds/pandemonium/antimatter)

Then again, last round time took lightnings to beat that so you never know.

We have 6 of each (Wyrm + Dragon), then 1 Purple Dragon and 1 Black Dragon.

Ok, just read Legits suggestion below, and it makes sense to me. Light specifically might already want to trade a matchup - but it will probably work - Light actually being a great option, since they do have Sanctuary and stalls and ect. Entropy as an element is pretty good against us (like we do well against light and time).

Light have very few sanctuaries/entropy counter decks, aether is in a much better position to beat the decks they use vs us, meaning we should be getting some pretty different ones if they do choose to help us out.

[14:44:09] Higurashi [»] DrunkDestroyer: That might be possible if we have something for what they'd likely send against you. I'll discuss it with my team, though it's a bit far into the deckbuilding phase now

[14:50:54] Higurashi [»] DrunkDestroyer: Mm.. we have a previous deal to think of too. Way too many requests from this event card x)

Told her to mass PM us when they've reached a conclusion, obviously if you get the PM, just put the answer here.

Sent a Back - Up to darkness. Not nearly as ideal, but worth a shot as a back up. Maybe we should take a look at time/light too. (That way time can't swap against us)

[18:07:15] Onizuka [»] DrunkDestroyer: I don't see why it isn't possible. If it wasn't, I'd tell you.

So, the entropy matchup is really asking ourselves whether we would rather selve preserve, or try to take a chunk out of the winning team. (Let's be honest, I don't think anyone but entropy wants them to win, I at least want a new banner if it's not going to be ours)

TStar might not trade, but I bet if I told him to tell Matrim that I told him I was desperately looking to trade the entropy matchup, it might mess with his head. (Whether it would help or not is unknown)

-Might just be me, but I'm not really seeing how the entropy deck could beat the deckout stall. (2 antimatters can be used to BE Dragons, so we aren't relying on a two card combo, we also have an impractical 4 card combo too - but antimatters are useless vs no creatures anyway) Shockwave should be taken out there, maybe a dragon/wyrm in its place.

-Life deck IMO has a better chance against the stall, maybe worse against grabbow/rush decks that death likes using (assuming PC)

- We have used the air/darkness duo the last two rounds against time, and I think once more in round 2 or something. It's great, because healing can stall sundials/poison/GotP damage , and devourers are really annoying, but for some reason I think they will want to change things up for us. (We also have a few regular vampires in the vault we can use, and I think another steal.
However, I think that :time or whatever element are likely to take PC, last round they really got beaten by Dagger + Fog more than anything. If there's a matchup to 'forget' about shields, (because we don't have enough to spread), its this one - maybe Fractal/Lightning is an option. (They almost always use creatures, and lightnings cam do up to 30 damage, so not bad)

-Entropy
Beating pandebonium and discord is a pain. 9 upgrades.

Is a very basic way of maybe using sanctuaries and Miracles we have. (Sanctuaries should be upped, when playing against Gravity's Disc/BH deck it really showed how 1 quanta could make the difference. Actually, in that game it never did, I always have 2 or 4, but..)

***Underquanta'd/. OEs are good, meaning we can hopefully win out against antimatter, and it attacks BWs I think, probably - Wyrm, and maybe more.

Well, to simplifly things for me, I saved the shield, then we -1 it from the event. (Great to have you here TF)

Death Time and Entropy are difficult teams, but at this point in the game, we can only expect to vs them (and Earth and Aether) unless there is a change in balance of the vaults :/

Basic thoughts for this round:

We should avoid playing Mono/near mono decks, we can't afford to lose them yet, make the most of all the off element cards in our vault while we can.

If we can get a swap for the entropy duel, then I think we should. We can take the Sanctuaries against them, but they can still play Bonebolt and deckout stalls, its not an ideal match up.

I would think that if any of the elements are going to swap against us, it will be Time.

We only have 3 Fogs and 3 Wings. Maybe we should take a deck without any permanents against an element likely to bring strong PC.

I was thinking the  :life duo against death. Problem is, we don't have the 3 flying weapons we used to, just the one now. That is considerably weaker, but it might still be the best option we have if we want to beat the SS/plague deckout deck. (Adrenaline sucks against it, but its a deck where the damage can be ramped up with scorps or Mitosis dragons/wyrms).

Quanta balance is made up and possibly very bad.

If we were to take an aether duo, it could either intergrate both lightnings and fractals, or just one of them. (Most likely lightnings, run off mark)

Air / Round 7 - Main Topic
« on: November 19, 2011, 08:22:19 pm »
Round 7 is up, and the matchups are as follows
Lt. Legit vs  :time valuka
plastiqe vs  :death ralouf1
Gen. DrunkDestroyer vs  :entropy Rush6

In the standings, we are strong at 6th. However, all the teams above us fell quite a bit, and all the teams below us lost cards too. (We had the 2nd best card difference, behind darkness). One extra win on our side, or an extra loss on aether's and we'll be up to 5th, and even better if earth/death/time/entropy start falling.

2 - 1 is a strong round, I think we did better than every team aside from Darkness + Entropy, and equal with Death. We still have a shitload of strong decks, we just need to be matched up right and pull through while everyone else loses.

From the first deck, we need to salvage the shield, then just take the Wyrms and Dragon.

We have a few spare darkness cards, we could salvage the devs/vamps and make two decks, and obviously the lightnings can be splashed against any team depending on what we think they will play. Or we could fractal...something with a few lightings. Maybe.

(However, we're probably going to need to find pillars/pends for the 3rd matchup again, so maybe we should just convert a few of these)

Interesting thing - the event card.
We can swap all our matches with other teams, granted that they are able to do the same. So, plastiqe could swap with say, Player X of  :underworld , and take his matchup against PlayerO of  :death

I don't know how much this will be used by other teams, but I have a feeling that :time will want to swap, and whatever team will bring something that can beat the darkness duo. Of course, that could not be true. (Only one swap for team. I wonder if anyone willingly wants to vs entropy...)

Battle phase has started!

And for the second time, I suggest Sanctuaries vs :entropy and both times we don't do it, they use Disc/BH.

I feel pretty shite about that - not much to say apart from I screwed up.

Thanks for taking the match Bloom. If we get the chance, next round is it.

Ugh.

Sorry about that Bloom, I screwed this one up.

Edit: Legit should be noted to be Liutenant so that everyone knows our deck was legal - although I'm not sure it matters at this point.
