Trial of Air / Re: 5th Trials - Phase 3 - Community Vote
« on: February 26, 2012, 12:25:13 pm »
I really wish I could have said that I watched all this happen before me, but this is actually the first time I even see the trials and the challengers.

It's really great to see the high quality of responses here, and the shocks and surprises of the battle stages - there is certainly a high level of competition, and I really wish I could have been a part of it. (Trials were easily my favorite part of everything elements, and you guys are in the same place I was).

Good luck to both of you in the final battle, I've looked and honestly have no clue as to who I would have voted for - but I'm sure it will be a final battle and master worth remembering.

I'm very curious as to the Air shard. A buff to airbourne seems good, (I would assume an entire field buff, so that air as an element is most benefitted, rather than any deck with dragons - which was the problem with my plan, to have a spell enabling the creature to target anything during the turn itself, which could be modified to specific creatures/perms (such as bonewall), but also to attack opponents directly, like momentum only sundial/SoSa would not effect)

I guess whether it protects or buffs them will decide whether air becomes more controlling, or rushing.

General Discussion / Re: War 4 vault tool : Feedback
« on: December 29, 2011, 11:13:03 am »
and again hello!

I have no proposed solutions and understand that individual cells can't be locked and this was through the fault of one of our own (who will never be known - which is good because I find it very likely to be me) - but the idea of someone triple checking the vault tool and ect before the deadline, (especially someone nervous about taking control and screwing up :P ) should not be greeted by kevkevs penalty thread, due to a nonexistant bone pillar and equally nonexistant yellow warning message thing.

It was also a bit single player oriented, rather than promoting of team discussion, but I have nothing to compare it to, and imagine it was a huge relief after the other Wars, definitely made the whole thing a little easier. I guess the chat function may have added to the team effort, but thats probably a 'google' thing

Air placed badly, but had things done differently, we could have won the War. (the same can be said about every single other team, but whatever)

I mean, this very last round (9), we could have been paired up against Gravity I think, with and Wings/OE deck, and then we'd be in round 10. If we had more cards at that point, ... :)

I felt that a lot of our decisions were the best we could make at the time, and only time proved us wrong. Like having an 18 in blackjack, not drawing another card, and the next person drawing a 3. Maybe there was something we missed, like the dealer taking out all cards greater than 5, I don't know. Then again, we got lucky many times, and that Round 4 Event card saved our asses (3 of 4 games won were thanks to that)

I like to think we lost because of bad luck/circumstances, but I think everyone would rather think that than know they personally had screwed up. I bet if I go back to my R3 or something, I will see lots of flawed logic and things I could have done better.

Round 10 / Re: [Final] (Death) Gen. MrBlonde 3 - (Light) Gen. majofa 1
« on: December 22, 2011, 08:15:11 pm »
I remember there was some sort of urgent super important reason for me to find internet and forums, but I have completely forgotten it. Instead, I'll congratulate team Death and MrBlonde, although it's not the light blue which I like so much, it will be nice seeing a new banner up on the top right corner.

I really really enjoyed War. I was going to write a mega-long response, but then realised, I didn't have the patience or wisdom, but I will just post some of my thoughts.

I really love the auction. Going back, you can see players you might have missed, and you think about the players you did choose. Some players were under/over valued, thats just how it works, and gives lots of time for good early strategy, which sets up for the rest of the game. Never change this.

Propaganda. No offense intended, but Team Air got robbed. Death might have been debateable (I would go for ours 99 times out of 100 still, but personal preference), but there was no way that Darkness' even came close. I've written some sort of speech for team Air the last 3 wars (war 2 was my best I think, got the most praise), and none of them got the place they deserved.

Our round 3 was a massive screw up, mostly on our side, but that doesn't change the fact that we had Zero way of knowing that the deck we submitted was anything other than legal when the vault tool never said anything opposite.

was our ideal match up, and I just feel sad that that never happened, because, let's be honest here :) - we had this match in the bag. Quinting to prevent buffs/endowing 4ever!!!!
I think that things like that should be locked in the future, so we can't screw ourselves over without realising it like that again, it was an extremely depressing sight to walk in and find we had been penalised, mixed up and spat out after I had triple checked the vault and planned everything out so much, especially when we had them countered so hard like that. (My first round really taking control of the team, 1 win, thanks to Perve being Perve, 7 losses. Wooo)

^Although, in my 3 - 2 loss to Mith, I should have continued with one desync, us both playing against AI, I had that one in the bag, I just thought that I would have all others too, I even had a screenshot where it gave the 'Your opponent has Left the game notice', although I failed and took a new screenshot next game. I should never be confident again lol.

We became a little inactive, mostly because I couldn't have everone play. I tried to rotate players, but I really would have liked for a few players to get more game time, 2-3 matches doesn't really feel like a full War.

Like everyone else, I have a huge issue with the 0 card salvage, I really like that aspect of War. Not so much with stragetic subbing, we did it once, we just failed beause we didn't win the game anyway. (Disc/BH Hate)

I found the vault tool was much more single playered, it was great and efficient, but not really promoting of team discussion (except that one chat session we had on it)

I am a huge supporter of event cards, I love them all, even when they don't help us at all. (Round 3, net bonus, 0) it makes War less of a formula - wait for matchups, build decks, play decks, salvage, next round. If it screws with things, ah well. Mess up the war whenever you can, with things like event cards, disadvantaged will always be louder, but I am sure there are many people like me who support them the whole way.

This was my first War, so I can't really compare the legnth to anything, although I understand the obvious issue of balancing giving all players a shot and war legnth.

Oh, and sportsmanship awards always seemed a little weird to me - It might just end up being a popularity contest, or not, I just think that rewarding sportsmanship is like giving a prize to people who donate or do charity. :/

Edit: This was actually meant for the feedback section. In our voices of the fallen, I would have said, go back in time and remember to upgrade the 3 bonewalls in Blooms deck like I was reminded to.

Air / Our war is over
« on: December 10, 2011, 12:30:58 am »
It's been fun guys, but from now, it looks like we're outta here.

This has without a doubt been my favourite PvP event (out of 3, including trials), and favourite War (again, out of 1), and I really enjoyed working with all of you. We were a strong, sometimes unpredictable team, and I think that at least in one point in War we challenged each and every team out there.

So, thanks to all of you for making War as great as it was for me (and hopefully all of you) - even you kevkev, we know you read this section, you've helped us out, join us in this metaphorical group huh!

We may not have won, but, we were a fucking awesome team, and we flew high, rode well, and hopefully had fun along the way.

(btw what do you guys think of the new RHCP album?  I like it a lot).
As for the actual album, I found it a little lacking, nothing came close to the greatness shown before 'Californication'/Hard to Concentrate', although Etheopia came quite close to Rivers of Avalon actually, and The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie is always worth it - but the important thing was the album cover. (Go look at it)

That's right, Fly High. and I think we did.

Round 9 / Re: (Light) Gen. majofa 3 - (Air) Gen. DrunkDestroyer 0
« on: December 09, 2011, 11:33:38 pm »
Team Air had a great plan.

The other teams were hitting us - but not quite hard enough. We needed something, a blitz, to completely and utterly demolish them. We needed that little something for the extra motivation, which would then give us the power to defeat our foes.

So we punched ourselves in the face. It didn't work for the Lions, and no matter how much emotion you pour into a game, your epic rage will not change the card draws of Elements the Game.

We knew our matchup was shit, there isn't too much you can do with 33 cards in your vault, but it isn't until the third game ends that everything really ends.

It's been a great event, I think we enjoyed it and went out fighting, to an extent, and would like to think we provided some sort of challenge - either due to intellect, originality, or pure mistakes, to all teams, and that you all enjoyed playing against us.

Team Air is out of War #4 too soon, it might not be the same team, faces or event next time, but we will be back.

Was hesitant using precogs seeing all the cards, used one early, saw Fire shield/Reverse Time/Rage Potion - cringed. He played a faerenheight very early, and I lost.

This is where I fucked up. I was supposed to lose anyway, because Internet Explorer closed and reopened itself to prevent some problem right when we connected - on the initial draw. I'm not sure whether YCH finds this funny considering the expense would have been on his side. (not sure if taker was in). Actually, now that I think, my in game mistakes weren't that bad, I had thought that I could have momentumed a scarab one turn earlier to kill his creatures, but that would not have worked, that would have been the turn it was spawned. So, my mistake was mostly in deck choice, and I screwed that up.

I wanted to win - I didn't - I am sad.

Go Amedilgo!!! Now and always!!!

Air / Re: War #4 - Sportsmanship Award
« on: December 08, 2011, 11:02:19 pm »
Regardless of our opinions on an award to celebrate sportsmanship, we should at least make an effort to make sure it'll go to the right person.
Well, certain people have a habit of voting each other in an almost circular way, so it will probably go to one of the bigger names, but we can at least put our thoughts down :)

I think we should just go for the basic stuff, which players we had pleasant duels with, and which were generally fun people to WAR with (regardless or results), so even if you haven't posted here since round 2, but you had a great duel against player X, go ahead and put it here.

I liked team :time this time round, and if I was to choose one of them it would be Valuka (I think Legit, you played him too, you can decide)
Otherwise, despite our universal hatred for everything to do with  :entropy , they actually had a pretty cool team, I'd me more than happy for us to appreciate someone like Gumbeh, or even MatrimKK

These are just suggestions, a quick brainstorm from me and Pervepic, if any names come up, go ahead and post them!!!

I like the deck a lot. The problem is the reverse, I keep losing with it. I think the game is trying to tell me to find all my old CCYB pieces and hit that False God button again.

Or, maybe I'm not paying enough attention to this deck. Maybe, I need to spend more time perfecting my strategy... (fail number 1 - not playing a spark when you have 2 sparks and 2 fractals in hand, to save one for later :/), or upgrading every single card in this deck!!! (Will only take me about, 300 days!)

Even though normally I don't care, I really really wish there was betting for this now, for some reason I think these final two unbeaten teams might have screwed up a few predictions  :)
