EQ does seem like it could hurt Light a lot. I'd be interested to try some variation with that.

To add on to what me and teffy are saying, this is a situation where I would instinctively just really want to click one of the names up there...

I always wanted to do that too. It just seems so obvious from a UI perspective.

emphasis added. Obviously you should have a plan, as such a cut should also come with programs being added if not done properly. There are 2 things that politicians hate doing.
Cutting Programs
Funding Programs
This would automatically do the first one, and before its passed, a bill would be passed alongside it that would state which programs congress decided to fund, and then the left and right wingers can duke it out to see which ones of their pet programs would get passed after it is all said and done.
This is just a terrible excuse for cutting swathes of programs because you don't understand their value, and not sensible policy by even the slightest margin.

What you're essentially proposing is the removal of every progressive measure that has been fought for tooth and nail since the foundation of your country if not before, and years of strife as all social services are removed. Important social initiatives like healthcare provision, education and military expenditure take years if not decades to propose, form and pass through legislative bodies. Furthermore, it's also fairly transparent in its aim to cut all programs and then attempt to block them indefinitely simply because you don't understand/like them.

honestly though, which programs would make that big a deal if they were cut?
Let's just list the basics for now, as we could be here for a while otherwise.

Government spending on healthcare for children, the elderly, and emergency treatment.
Welfare for the most destitute. (Along with the above, this would result in the deaths of significant numbers of people)
The entire education system from teachers to pupils.
The military, especially procurement and training.
Disaster planning and response.
Infrastructure building.

Or, to put it another way, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Understood. The amount of trauma that the mother takes is so immense, that no matter the circumstances, the father has no say.
Pay attention, it's not about trauma. It's about the lack of control and choice. That's the difference, for example, between sex and rape.

However, if it's been determined they are physically fit to carry the "parasite", then, at the very least, one should take into account the non-hosting parent's opinion. I mostly advocate the AGE principle, as stated a couple pages ago.
So you consider that essentially enslaving a person for nine months is acceptable? This isn't just hyperbole here, you appear to genuinely be advocating that someone should be forced to lose control of their body, have it irrevocably altered, be exposed to health risks, work harder, and undergo psychological and physiological trauma, all on the preference of another person who bears no risk in any part of the process and for whom you've yet to establish any substantive benefit.

However, the tapeworm has no potential, and no matter how endearing you find them, they aren't exactly the base components in building a family. >.>
Clearly you do not understand how much I love this goddamn tapeworm. I value it far more than any person could even value a child.
Will that tapeworm benefit the advancement of the human race?
You bet it will.

So you see, you have to have this tapeworm inside you and you have no rights to have it removed no matter how much harm it might do to you.

Clearly you do not understand how much I love this goddamn tapeworm. I value it far more than any person could even value a child. Arbitrary distinctions like "potential" or "family" are entirely subjective concerns with no foundation.

Here, have this sandwich. Nice, huh?

Sorry, did I forget to mention that it contains a rare species of tapeworm that I want to raise?

Oh, and because I am willing to pay all medical expenses, you are not allowed to remove the tapeworm, because after all I value it too much and I have the right to see it raised because it's mine. Of course, giving you money should be ample recourse for forcing you to bear a parasite within your body for a long period of time. It's not like me forcibly taking control of your body for the purposes of raising this tapeworm is akin to slavery or anything like that.

Did I mention that simply having the tapeworm will ruin your lifestyle for a good six months at least, and it significantly increases your chances of dying from a whole host of medical problems?

Good games. That deck is evil.

After the shields went up I had no chance. Shutting down the Arsenic was pretty much the killer.

The second match I drew four spiders and enough pillars/pends to get 2.5 death per turn. Decided not to bother playing spiders and drew into a dragon right as I hit 10 death quanta. Then did the exact same thing again four turns later, and only then did I start playing spiders. Pity it didn't help. :S

Guys I am really sorry. I took a short holiday at the weekend but things sort of snowballed around it and I've not been able to get back to the real internet until today.

Hopefully there shouldn't be any more problems.
