Design Theory / Re: Unwritten Rules
« on: April 23, 2010, 03:02:52 pm »
Not sure I want to support Essence's viewpoint. I did misunderstand when I read your first post though. Seeing that you have a Master of Water title and some words you used hinted of restrictions. In my viewpoint, all programming is a PITA if you have no vigor compelling you to do it. For some it may be a job, for some it's a hobby. Limits and boundaries exist but sometime during the process of writing a set of code, new interesting ideas pop up and you would want to continue those ideas because you want to see the end of those ideas. But at this point, I would agree Essence's view of focusing on structuring the "less-time consuming" part to capture more player attentions. Some cards are still in development at the moment and are in need of revising. However, more player involvements would in my opinion help out a lot in the game. In any way possible, it would be better to encourage new ideas (Good or Not so good) to give players a feeling of hope to things to come. From what you have said so far Essence, it appears that ideas are implementable but just too time consuming at the moment, and I totally agree with it. But as for programming, there are always ways to get around some set of "unwritten rules." Even the Law has some bendable point. If you can't penetrate the boundary you can circumvent it. Just my half-cent view on your "debate" with Scaredgirl. No one has to give a face about my view. Just expressing it as I see fit.

NO ARROGANCY MEANT!

Oh my misunderstanding Kael. Sorry. How about the following then  :)

Theme:
Pillar Assortment: Switching pillars :entropy
Height of Pillars: Healing related to amount of pillars in play :earth
Decomposer: Converts dead creatures to Life quantum :life

Role:
A card that gives all your pillars to the opponent and receive an equal amount of pillars in return. :entropy
A spell card that heals you in relation to how many pilars in play.  :earth
A creature card with skill of converting dead creatures to Life quantum. Skill effective when in play. :life

Mechanic:
All your pillars are swap with the opponent N times. (N is number of pillars you hold). :entropy
Activation available only with even amount of pillars in play. Heal you with N amount. (N is number of pillars divided by 2) :earth
Receive N Life quantum from dead creatures. (N is quantum required to play the dead creatures divided by 2) :life

Idea
Weapon cards are considered rare but are rarely used widely. Below are some ideas that may assist players hoping to make a wepaon-based deck without the hassle of waiting and wasting card slots for "Flying Weapon" as well as an efficient contender among an unlimited variety of decks existing at the moment and to create new varieties of strategy for weapon-based cards. Maybe create a new set of quantum pillar called Metals or the like but that is a bit far-fetched. Random Quanntum = RQ
==================================

Theme
a. World of Weapons: Way of giving wings to weapon cards to fly on the field  :aether
b. Metamorphism: Pave a way to handle the Scrap Metal :entropy
c. Remake: Way for providing alternate damages 1/1 stat :entropy
d. Resource: Another way to provide damages by spawning Scrap Metal :life
e. Repair: Way of protecting weapon-based cards on the field :light
f. Sharpen Edge: Way of increasing stats for weapon-based cards :earth
g. Critical Penetration: Enable a percent chance to do triple weapon-based damage :air
h. Shuriken: A unique way to place a control on the opponent RQ
i. Metal Clog: Another control on the opponent RQ

Role
a. A permanent card that allows replaced weapon cards to go to the field :aether
b. A spell card that has a chance to morph a Scrap Metal into a random weapon card :entropy
c. A spell card that can disassemble weapon card to smaller parts  :entropy
d. A card similar to "Boneyard" but spawns Scrap Metal instead :life
e. A shield card that prevents spell from targeting weapon-based cards on the field :light
f. A spell card that increases damages only on weapon-based cards :earth
g. A spell card that gives a weapon-based card 50% chance to make a critical damage :air
h. A spell card that enables player to destroy 1 card from the opponent's hand RQ
i. A spell crad that prevents player from drawing on the next turn RQ

Mechanic
a. Opens the entrance to the Wolrd of Weapon. :aether
b. Turn a Scrap Metal into a random weapon or completely melt it. :entropy
c. Convert a weapon with even attack points to N Scrap Metal. (N is AP/2 + 2) :entropy
d. Spawn 3 Scrap Metal when a weapon is destroy. :life
e. Effective only if Morning Star is in play. 75% to repair against spells. :light
f. Forge a weapon or Scrap Metal with +3/3 :earth
g. Grant a weapon or Scrap Metal 50% chance to do triple damage. 5HP penalty if misses. :air
h. Sacrifice one Scrap Metal to destroy 1 card from the opponent's hand RQ
i. Sacrifice two Scrap Metal to prevent player drawing on the next turn RQ

==================================
I try to make this as concise as possible. Forgive me if I went over the limited space allowed. Just in case if anyone is wondering: AP stands for Attack Points and Scrap Metal is not a real card ( Just something I made up to go along with this idea providing an additional help to weapon-based decks if there is such a thing). There are lots of room for improvement if anyone like this idea.

Patch Notes and Development News / Re: AI improvements

AI: has Eternity in use and has zero card in the deck
Should use Eternity's ability on its own creature to prevent automatic lost.

Seems like most event/tournament/challenge are done with not upped cards. Are there any events with no restrictions running? I just registered today so not sure how things are running. Thank you.
