Anti-Rainbow [46% winrate in Gold][75% winrate vs Gold Rainbows] with Stats! https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=49578.msg1075776#msg1075776
« on: May 30, 2013, 10:17:12 pm »
The original idea was to find a rainbow counter. I was testing mono gravity. To make sure it works good against higher rainbow decks, I tested it all the way in Gold Arena.
Here is the deck:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
55k 55k 55k 55k 55k 55v 55v 55v 55v 568 576 576 576 576 576 576 744 748 74b 74b 74b 74d 74d 74d 74i 74i 74i 752 752 752 752 8pl

Here are the results of 50 consecutive matches in Gold Arena:
(opponent by opponent)

Spoiler for Hidden:
1. Fire Rush: no CC. Win.
2. Fire Rush: but a hammer finished me. Loss.
3. SN based Rainbow. Win.
4. Mono  :darkness: dragons and flying daggers. Win.
5. Rainbow. Win.
Special spin: Titan.
6. Ghostmare. Rewinded my solo otyugh and locked me with Eternity. Loss.
7.  :entropy :darkness duo: mutation and pandemonium all the way. Loss.
8. Ghostmare: I locked his quanta at 0, then he started discarding his ghosts. Win.
9. Mono  :air: I destroyed all his shards, but my Otyugh never came, so I didn't have CC. Loss.
10. Mono  :aether: no shards, just psions. And my otyugh is a huge troll, because it only appeared when it was too late. Loss.
11.  :gravity :entropy duo: discords + blackhole slowed me down and when I had enough quanta to summon Otyugh, it was congealed by a chaos seed. Loss.
12. Mono  :air: my Otyugh was schockwaved. Loss.
13. Mono  :life: complete lockdown. Win.
14.  :air :darkness duo: mono  :air packed with a few vampires. I couldn't handle a stack of 6 SoFree. Loss.
15. Lobobow: lots of ulitharids and electrocutors in this rainbow. Win.
16. Mono  :aether: a race between SoW and Overdrive. I had to overdrive my nymph to win. Win.
17.  :darkness :fire duo:  :fire standed there for CC spells and rage potion for obsidian dragons. Win.
Special spin: nothing.
18. Rainbow: the oracle card was anubis. Win.
19. Rainbow: quintessenced creatures avoided my CC. Loss.
20. Rainbow: all creatures got momentum, and their HP was over 5, os CC and PC didn't work. Even my blackholes were hiding on the bottom of my deck. Loss.
21. Mono  :life. Win.
22. Mono  :darkness. Win.
23. Rainbow. Thanks for using basilisk blood on all my 3 Otyughs, so I could eat all your gravity forced voodoo dolls in one chomp. Win.
Special spin: Shard of Wisdom.
24.  :entropy :death duo: used cats. Cats got eaten. The soul cathers couldn't generate  :death quanta. Discards happened. Win.
25. Same deck as 23th. Win.
26.  :fire :light duo: fire shield stopped my otyughs from growing over the archangels. Loss.
27. Ghostmare: as much as I hate these decks, I like beating them. Win.
28. Mono  :light packs up all the things that this deck is weak to: miracle, light dragons and sanctuaries. Loss.
29. Pillarless fire rush: used cremation all the way. When he ran out of  :light, seraphs were easy targets. Win.
30. Mono  :fire rush: neither otyugh nor gravity force came in time. Loss.
31. Rainbow. Win.
32. Same deck as 17th. Pests locked my quanta under 4. SoF was siphon lifed. Loss.
33.  :time :light duo: dune scorpion rush. Second-turn poison freaks me out, even if it's normal poison, but not! Loss.
34.  :air :light duo: blessing rush. 14/10 damselfly + morningstar. Too quick to even react. Loss.
35. mono  :aether: SoW, 'nuff said. Loss.
36. mono  :light: morningstar cannot be blocked. I almost outran it with a single overdrive, but then 2 luciferins appeared. Loss.
37. Rainbow: with golden nymphs, SoR, hourglasses, precogs and sundials. Destroy and devour. Win.
38. Mono  :darkness: quanta denial and CC. Loss.
39. Rainbow: actually not rainbow, just black dragons and fractals put together with some random card. Win.
40. Mono  :gravity: i had a very bad hand, that's all. I could have easily defeated that deck. Loss.
41. Ghostmare: denial means that I cannot draw NEW cards, and that's pretty much 'game over' if the combo is not ready. Loss.
42. Mono  :aether: immortal creatures and spell damage. Loss.
43. Ghostmare: reverse time and devourers. Loss.
44. Mono  :life: he had more Feral Bonds than creatures. Maybe because I ate them all. Whatever. Win.
45. Mono  :fire: SoB decked me out. Loss.
46. Mono  :gravity: low attack 6+ HP creatures. I needed to overdrive a charger and also execute cannibalism. Win.
47.  :air :life duo: only creatures were flying shortbows with adrenaline. Win.
48. Mono  :darkness: siphon lives and devourers. Loss.
49. Pdials: just without the dials and with the P. Loss.
50. Rainbow: PA on Quantum towers and PA on Hourglass make me unable to end a stream of rushing CC creatures. Loss.

Spoiler for Stats:

Spoiler for Hidden:
50 matches in Gold:
23-27 total in Gold Arena.
I didn't count the EMs, but if I had to guess, it's EM ~75% time out of all wins.

12 matches in Gold versus Rainbows
9-3 total versus Rainbow decks in Gold Arena.
Significant EM rate.

And even these stats should be much more better fully upgraded!

Strengths:
  • it has Permanent Control
  • it has Creature Control
  • it has quanta denial
  • Edit: it has potential healing
  • it can block damage over and over
  • after it stabilizes its position, the enemy is doomed

Weaknesses:
  • damage is slow
    • weak to miracles
    • deckouts can happen
  • 6+ HP creatures are hard to control
  • there are some damage sources that it cannot deal with
    • Morning Glory
    • Shard of Wisdom
    • Poison
  • Rewind, mutation and lobotomize can ruin the deck

In this state, 'changing some cards to more BHs or Otyughs' is to be considered, but when it will be fully upgraded, it will be more balanced.

I always use mono-gravity to farm Gold and I'm usually pleased with the results -- glad to see someone posted a version.

I'm very curious as to why you picked what you picked what you picked. (Massive Dragon?)

The Massive Dragon use up my spare quanta in late-games, and I also found out that most of the time the AI chooses the dragon as a target for CC, rather than Otyughs.

This looks a lot like the deck I built for my oracle: Elidnis predictions.

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
568 568 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 749 749 74b 74b 74b 74b 74b 74b 74i 74i 74i 74i 752 752 752 752 752 752 8pl

I like the gravity shields for things that the otyughs can't eat, especially when I know Elidnis had things like phase dragon or could possibly get a quinted grown spirit before I got an otyugh.  The other main difference is I didn't use any black holes, getting them all from the shards and nymphs.  I also didn't use any gravity forces, but I didn't find I needed them, at least against Elidnis.  The deck, as you mentioned, does tend to get quite a few EMs when it works, since in a successful game it basically cleans out your opponent's board and then you can just spam the black holes, and the damage dealing of the deck is quite slow, so it takes awhile to win, giving you time to get back to 100hp.

A pillar/pend split would obviously be smarter, but I must've been too lazy to bother; Elidnis has no PC so I didn't care.

This deck looks like it plays well and is fun to play, I'll have to try it out when I get my cards upgraded
Give me any deck, no matter how good, and by adding some cards that seem to fit in, I'll make it horrible

Tell me how your 3-nymph version works after you tried it. :)

On a sidenote, after all the time passed I think Swallow is better for Gold Arena in general as it has purifies and SoPas, but Swallow gets beaten a lot of times vs rainbows, which are also frequent.
And we keep driving into the night
It's a late goodbye, such a late goodbye...
