UTAlan's QI Calculator http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=65970.msg1276296#msg1276296

Hi all!

Did anybody by chance saved UTAlan's QI Calculator while it was still online?
It was down in the last few days, and I'm kinda disappointed since it helps a lot quickly checking quanta balance. OK, I got some
good advice on chat concerning the problem, but those methods aren't really fast. Especially when you play in a speedbuilding tournament.

I also checked UTAlan's profile here, he didn't log in since April 2. That calculator of his was a real lifesaver. :/

Since wasn't sure which topic I should necro, I necro'd my own topic. :D

I had a long time problem with the said calculator that it didn't account certain cards into the calculation, especially shards.
(I guess because it was made before the shards were turned mark-specific.)

Lately I've been checking a few things, figuring out how does it work. For example what numbers are used for upped
pillars/pends/marks. I remembered that upped pends should count as 0,7 pillars, but my tests show that it isn't as
exact. They are between 0,7-0,76, changing for each added upped pend and don't really understand why.
My test deck was like this

Spoiler for Hidden:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vn 4vn 4vn 4vn 4vn 4vn 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 4vc 6ve 8pr

swapping one pillar for an upped pend with each step.

ps: I know, QI isn't the perfect idea to check decks, but it is good for a primary check, everything can be
fine-tuned later.

I think the algorithm it used was something like this

-multiply number of pillars of each element by 5 (6 if upgraded) ex: 5 water pillars and 3 light pillars = 25 water 15 light
-multiply number of pendulums by 2.5 for the element of the pendulum (3.5 if upgraded) and 2.5 for the element of the mark (no change if upgraded), so 4 water pendulums + 4 upgraded water pendulums + light mark = 24 water 10 light
-deck mark counts as 5 for that element
-quantum pillars count 1/4 each towards each element (can't recall how it did upgraded ones)
-stuff like novas, immolations, etc, count however many quanta they make

Then add up the costs of all of the cards of each element in the deck and the costs of each of the activated abilities once.  You wanted the ratio to be as close to 1 as possible of the quanta produced to quanta costs.

I'm not sure if it counted stuff like ray of light or damselfly or whatever, but I'd work it in if needed.  It worked fairly well for most types of decks, but it got weird for things like firestall or stalls in general.

I've always just added cards equivalent to the cost of shards whenever I needed to calculate it.
