Steam MAchine is really meant to be used WITH SoR
If you need another card for your card to work, that doesnt make it stronger, it makes it weaker as drawing a combo is predefined order sucks.

SoR is another weak card. If you take 1-2 of those, you will face bad draws. If you take more of those, you're clogging your deck. So far the best usage I found for it is in control rainbow where you can stall enough. Also flying Eternity with 0 cost is pretty cool.
I tested Tear/Nymph deck with and without SoR. It is kinda funny, but it works better with more quantum towers than with SoRs in the deck.

I added a little something to the chart, to make it more accurate, because it now shows what has done more total damage, since if one has already killed the opponent, the other's attack is irrelevant.

Steam Engine:

1|0/8- 0 damage 5 :water
2|3/8- 4 damage 5 :water 2 :fire

I got to that 2nd line and knew you were wrong, because Steam Machine loses it's point of attack BEFORE damage is dealt.

you sure? i havent used them for a while so you could be right
but then it would be exactly the same as a +3/+0 boost...so why have it work that way?

Erm, no. It gains 4, then hits for 4 during the "Attack" portion of it's turn, and then proceeds to do whatever else it has to do, which includes losing attack.

It works the same way with Infected creatures and Sparks, they'll attack before doing anything else.
I ask nothing of humanity but fairness in all things, but I do not expect even that.

wrong, tested in the trainer,  it will gain 4 when you use its ability but will lose the counter BEFORE it attacks, it deals 3 damage first turn, 6 damage second, 9 damage, and so on.  Unless it was changed very recently.

It's always been 4 attack, then 7, then 10, then 13....

I'm almost certain it loses the counter after attacking.

i just checked (about 20 seconds ago in the trainer) Steam Machine is 4/15 when he sues his skill, end turn he loses 1 attack then attacks and deals 3 damage to the enemy.  I amde sure to do this 5 times, each time watching the enemies hp drop by an additiona; 3 (6 the enxt turn, then 9 then 12 etc.)

Um, are you SURE the AI didn't have a shield? XD. Because I just tested it, and it went 4 (attack) -> 3 -> 7 (attack) -> 6 -> 10 (attack)...

Add that on to the fact that that's just how the game's action sequence works.

Hmm, maybe I'm weird, but that's not how I'd play steam machines.

The damage is good late game, sure, but early game their synergy with rage potion is way more beneficial.

Lava Destroyer
Turn 1: 7 damage
Turn 2: 16 damage
Turn 3: 27 damage
Turn 4: 46 damage (rage potion)
Turn 5: 67 damage
Turn 6: 90 damage
Turn 7: 115 damage.  Deadface

Steam Machine (upgraded)
Turn 1: 15 damage (rage potion x 2)
Turn 2: 33 damage
Turn 3: 54 damage
Turn 4: 78 damage
Turn 5: 105 damage.  Deadface

And I'm 100% sure that it did 4 damage then went down to 3 attack.

Check your eyesight :).
