The old tiebreakers for standings used round eliminated, then cards left after that round as a tiebreaker. We now use round eliminated, and then overall win percentage for the entire war as a tiebreaker.
Given a short while I can compile this well.

Disclaimer: As the Idea Guru, my knowledge is mostly theoretical. War is not theoretical.
There is a lot of variance in an elements ranking from war to war. This indicates to me that either player skill (including all skills involved in War) or luck has a higher impact on the results than the element chosen. However if we look at the extremes of Fire and Water (sorry man) we can see that either Water gets abnormally bad skill/luck (extremely unlikely) or the element chosen does still have a visible impact.

Look at how time changed after 10 men kicked in, for example.
Also, this war i think our team (air) was the biggest reason we became fourth.

In my own opinion, both team's skill and element have the same importance.

I'd add variance in rules from War to War as a third variable. Just as an example, in War 1 there was no conversion rule, so a team like Death who was never able to salvage a single Death card was more likely to have to suicide than some other teams. In War 4 a couple teams didn't find a Strategist, had trouble adjusting to the new Google doc based vault, and suffered penalties. Etc.

This war has thrown around the total standings quite a bit, and has a lot of records associated with it.
- First of all, of course, Aether is the first and only team to ever win 3 Wars.
- They are also the first and only team to ever win both 2 Wars and 3 Wars in a row.
- With this War, Aether also took over the #1 spot in point rankings, which Entropy had previously owned since War 2.
- In addition to Aether passing Entropy, Time also passed Entropy thanks to this War where Entropy got their second worst ranking yet; 7th.
Other teams have performed by different standards than previously as well.
- Gravity nabs the 4th spot this War, which is their best ranking ever. The closest one was #6 in War 6. In other words, are they gaining momentum?
- Light has its worst ranking ever, and having been one of the mid tier elements, it drops from 6th in point ranking to 9th among the low tier elements.
- This also allows Air to take the 6th ranking with its recent good record of #2 in two Wars straight.
Total win % coming.

The fact that you need to hold a simultaneous tourney to choose their general kinda overcomplicates things. Also, we wouldn't have the players for that recently.

That's a great way to summarize wars....
All in all, it shows that :gravity :life :water and :light all needs some help to be competitive in war... :gravity receive some with cheap cards last war.... the other 3 still need help in a way or another to go away from the bottom of the list over and over! My personal feeling is :earth needs a lil help too with the only unplayable shard but not sure how and it's minor compare to others.
also, this standings could be put in suggestions for building next war to help future WMS no ?

Is the pattern for determining ranking on multi-team eliminations in a single round based on W/L then cards left? I thought it was always the other way around, was this changed and then changed for previous wars?

I'm using the formula that Legit used, which was round eliminated, then W/L percentage. Not sure if it came up before, but this war Time and death were eliminated in the same round and had the same W/L percentage (40%) - Time had more total wins, and also more cards in vault, so by either metric they would be 8th, and death 9th place.

I decided to make an updated gdoc for the complete war rankings, with data on round eliminated (since that's the primary determiner of rank). Here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18KKPCNUTssvsQcg8rMtCiOC1EbowaXdeF7PdUbZFGDQ/edit?usp=sharing
Now, there's one thing before we can finalize the rankings. If our metrics are Round eliminated then Winrate, then Death and Entropy are tied for 5th. Of course a tie for 5th isn't that big of a deal, but historically we've awarded distinct ranks. So we need to devise some tiebreaker.
Last war duke broke it based on either #Wins or Vault size. Both are good metrics. A team with more wins had to work harder to maintain the same winrate over many matches. Also vault size at the end is not entirely discountable: a team with 49 cards left was just a bit away from surviving another round (a stray transmute may have done it). But one at 0 cards would've needed more to survive.
Previously, we've had the same situation thrice:
Time/Gravity - War 7
Air/Death - War 8
Time/Death - War 10
In the War 10 case, both #wins and vault determine Time as winner in tiebreak. In War 8 both teams had the same W/L record, but by vault size Air wins significantly. In war 7 they also had same record and the vault sizes weren't stated clearly, but by the number of spoils after Round 8 Time was a clear winner. So the historical rankings stand by these two metrics.
But in our case, the two metrics favor different teams. So we'd have to choose one to be superior. #wins seems more objective, but do keep in mind that cards left in vault played a role in causing this debacle (Death revived because they were only a few cards below 50). So which do we choose?
At that point, I looked for a more objective tiebreaker. The best answer? RPI. Not all W/L records are created equal; some teams have faced worse opponents than others. We don't have easy stats for RPI in case of War 7, but we do have kakerstats for War 8 & 10. I added Winrates tab to War #8 (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gbh58GOlV0X8Jt4LmdddVGL8TkY0rybhBNPA9pwvqP8/edit?usp=sharing) and checked War #10 (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1u7ltro309bCjm9D18V1nzJ-N2QGSca8L1K6kbGIbfVc/edit#gid=3630884), and it's surprising. The teams that won the tiebreak above had lower RPI. Indeed, in War #8 Air had the lowest Strength of Schedule, so arguably they had the easiest time of all teams. Doesn't that mean Death deserves to win the tie over them?
Among the simple metrics, #Wins and Vault Size are both good. But I think we should resolve this by something more objective, something which accounts for how hard it was for a team to acquire their winrate. So I propose that all possible ties be broken by RPI. This would switch those historic rankings. RPI shouldn't leave many ties since it's very precise, but then we should decide which of #Wins and Vault Size is better.

I don't see why round eliminated, then win rate (the current tiebreaker), then final vault size (the original tiebreaker) isn't sufficient. In the rare situation you need a tiebreaker after that, I'd say number of wins, and only after that should a rating system be necessary - preferably not RPI, there are far better ranking systems available and it's not really more objective than the events that actually occurred.

Yeah what I said above was just one point of view. Now that I think about it, I got carried away and I don't support it that strongly. I suppose no one would really care if we used a simpler metric instead of a complex one. And RPI might not be that objective (I have little experience). Thanks for speaking out.

War 11 - update to overall standings and changes:
Aether still reigns over the War standings. Air jumped up from 5th and is tied for 2nd with Entropy who jumped up from 3rd. Time and Fire dropped and are now tied for 4th place; Darkness held on to 6th while Death and Earth switched places in the 7th and 8th spot. Gravity remains 9th while Water and Light switched spots for 10th and 11th. Despite winning war, Life remains in 12th place (though the gap between them and Light has narrowed significantly).

Aether still reigns over the War standings. Time jumped up to 2nd, just edging out Entropy in 3rd and Air in 4th. Darkness moved up a spot to 5th, barely beating Fire, who dropped to 6th place. Earth and Death switched places (again!) in the 7th and 8th spots. Light had an incredible jump up from 11th place to tie Gravity at 9th. That pushed Water down to 11th, and Life is still holding the 12th place spot.
