Survival Mode! https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=6751.msg72159#msg72159

This is just an idea and might be difficult to code, but I want to post it anyways.

Survival Mode. Many games have them. It's a game mode where you try to last for as long as you can. With this suggestion, the same thing can be done in Elements!

In Survival Mode, you fight against an opponent with infinite HP and infinite cards. There could be pre-set Elder, Halfblood or False God decks for this mode; when your opponent runs out of cards, its entire deck is reloaded. It could also be that when you run out of cards, you don't lose, but you don't reload your deck either; you simply stop drawing cards.

There are several objectives in Survival Mode:

- Survive for as many turns as you can.

- Deal as much damage to your opponent as you can.

- Gather as much quanta as you can.

- Deal as much damage to enemy creatures as you can.

- Destroy as many enemy permanents as you can.

- Others?

Of course, score and electrums gained in Survival Mode will be decided by a formula taking into consideration all of the above factors.

What do you guys think?

Hm... sounds like a flawed idea.

What happens if you get a complete lockdown on your opponent? (say 2 otys and adequate pillars vs Miracle, or hope against Divine) Does the game go on indefinitely?

If there were to be a survival mode, it would probably alternate false god decks. This way, you have to lose eventually as you can't be prepared against all of them at once.

Yes, the decks of Survival Mode are open to discussion. Maybe alternating FGs is a good idea.

Any really simple FG deck (Think SG's) can keep going forever. The only problem would be making sure your healing survives all the explosions/steals.

At the very least you'd need to restart every match to make it harder. Perhaps just a non-stop fight of 10/20/30 NPCs of increasing difficulty with only one live (Carrying over HP perhaps)? It's not a real survival mode since it ends, but it would still give a similar experience.

Survival.. maybe a good way is to go through random FGs while not retaining your remaining HP after the previous wins at the beginning of the battles.

Note: After beating an FG, you challenge a random FG in a new battle while retaining your previous HP from the last battle at the beginning of the new battle.

It can't go on indefinitely because you'd exceed 9999 of some quanta type which i suspect would cause some sort of error. And you wouldn't lose eventually because you could have started vs an easy god and achieved a lockdown structure that's hard to overturn. Maybe not an infinite card opponent--if i had to pick a quantity of cards i'd go for the current total of all 24 FGs.

To me the idea is more flawed because WHAT strategy is a seemingly infinite opponent going to use? An expanded form of rage quit?

Hmm... Perhaps your score and electrum gain should primarily depend on your average damage per turn (total damage / total turns), and secondarily how many turns you survive? That way, it actually encourages you to deal damage, instead of just using a rage quit stall deck.

Nono I meant that an AI with infinite cards wouldn't really have predictable draws so it couldn't employ a consistently effective strategy. When I said rage quit I meant what the endurance AI is going to use, not the human player--don't know what you have in mind.

If I understand correctly, the AI could use the same strategy it does now. It wouldn't actually be an AI with infinite cards -- on any given turn, the AI would have a finite number of cards. The only difference is that the AI wouldn't lose when it couldn't draw a card -- instead, its draw pile would be restocked with another copy of its deck.
