HP decrease in arena decks https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=33355.msg420738#msg420738

I really think the HP decrease in arena decks should operate on a merit-based scale; i.e.  total victories (or proportionate victories) should determine the decrease, in lieu of a necessitated daily decrease.  I find that in-game traffic is highest on the weekends, so an arena deck can experience a disproportionate win/loss rate depending on which day of the week it is constructed.  Changing the HP decrease parameters would automatically address the 'weekend discrepancy.'  For example: subtract 3-5 HP per victory (and possibly add 1-3 per loss?) so each deck will be ensured a certain number of matches with the intended deck construction, without the unfortunate punishment of spinning a desired card at the beginning of a low-traffic period.  Another example: force an HP decrease for each 5/10 wins, with no HP addition regardless of match outcome.  Whaddya think?

Here's a P.S.  The arena is a great idea!

I agree that HP-Loss per day isn't the best way to handle it.

What I really don't like is the idea to add HP for losses, I don't know how you came to this.

IMO the best thing would be an HP-Loss per Game, so the arena wouldn't be ruled by the most luckiest people  :P

Maybe a combination of decrease per day and game would work good, something like -1 HP per game on the first day, -2 per game on the second day or something like that.

While it is (probably) true that we get more plays on weekends, -everyone- gets more plays on average, and everyone has the same chance to get a good card at the oracle for the weekend.  Therefore, it seems fair to me because when averaged over time, nobody has an advantage in this regard.

The idea of losing something like 1 or 2 hp per play, rather than a cumulative loss per day, does seem interesting, and I think that would work.  I also think the current hp loss system is fine, though, and doesn't really need to change.  I don't like the idea of basing hp on the win/loss record; I think that it would result in less turnover in the top arena decks, and I like to see fresh ideas.

I agree the fact that Arena decks can have as much HP as a FG is really annoying and, totally screws some decks over.

I think that's just another challenge of the arena. It may not seem too balanced, but they way the arena runs its course is generally fair.

I like these ideas very much.
a platina deck going 30-0 literally means its undefeatable. after 2 days, most likely this deck will have a 75-2 ,...
adding this improvement would cause this deck to be beatable

e.g.1: strong deck
before update: 200HP 0-0 --> 180HP 30-6 after 2 days
after update: 200HP 0-0 --> (180-ax+by)HP x-y (assuming a=2 and b= 0.5, won= 30, loss=6) --> [180-(2*30)+(0.5*6)=] 123HP 30-6

e.g.2: less strong deck
before update: 200HP 0-0 --> 180HP 6-30 after 2 days
after update: 200HP 0-0 --> (180-ax+by)HP x-y (assuming a=2, b= 0.5, won=5 and loss= 30) --> [180-(6*2)+(30*0.5)=] 183HP 6-30

this system will limit the power of stronger decks, and will keep less strong decks longer in play.
I consider this a HUGE advantage for new players whom's deck are less strong.

Ok, maybe it's just my unbelievebable bad luck, but my arena deck got not a single game the last three days and is now inactive. The score hasn't changed for three days and nevertheless it's outdated....

Is this really how it should be?

(of cause this post is a little bit about whining ;) )
