Communications Manager

1 or 2 new Communications Manager(s) to help act as a feedback medium between staff members and Council!
The position of Communications Manager is new - that is to say that whoever is hired from this post will be the first Communications Manager. As a slight drawback, this means that there is no pre-existing way of being a Communications Manager. This role will be replacing Social Network Manager.
In this community, staff members are key for keeping things running smoothly and making sure everyone always has something to do. When staff members have problems - personal issues, an inactive member, a loss of interest or anything else that makes friction - Council needs to know about it so the problem can be sorted as soon as possible. And because we're all human here, this doesn't always get reported. Maybe a staff member has way too much work to do, but they don't complain because it's just become normal. Or maybe someone is too embarrassed to report that they really don't want to have their role anymore.
That's where the Communications Manager comes in. It's the Communications Manager's job to assess the needs and opinions of current staff members to ensure that everything runs slick and smooth. The CMs are the oil in the machine that is this community. CMs will collect the information about how staff members are doing on a regular basis, perhaps every 1-2 months, and report this back to Council such that they can sort problems out or post hirings as needed. Additionally, the Communications Managers are the point of contact for reporting anonymous issues about other staff members - they can be trusted with keeping your name a secret.
To current staff members: please do not wait until the CMs ask to report your issues. Let us know right away! The CMs are just here to prompt you to mention things you might not otherwise.
Additionally,
the Communications Manager will have the responsibilities of the now-nonexistent Social Network Manager, and will have jurisdiction over the EtG social media channels.
The main roles of a CM are as follows:
- Assist the Elements Council in ensuring that the forums are running as smoothly as possible.
- Communicate with staff to ensure they are comfortably willing and able to perform their duties.
- Assess the needs of current staff members to work out what they need to be able to perform their duties at their best.
- Report all findings to Council so appropriate solutions can be found for any issues staff may have.
- Manage the EtG social media channels and advertise major events.
- Receive anonymous complaints from members and maintain anonymity where appropriate.
Please note that Council elections will not affect CMs, and that current Council members may apply.
Applicants to the position of Communications Manager require:
- A rank of Full Member or above (200+ posts)
- Knowledge of how this community works
- The ability to handle feedback and opinions well, even negative ones
Additionally, the new Communications Manager should be someone who:
- Others are comfortable trusting with information.
- Has the organisational skills to prepare ways of working in this role from scratch.
- Enjoys working with many people across the forum.
- Is able to make reports to Council in a timely manner, and collect from staff feedback that Council requests.
- Knows what questions to ask to get the information they need.
