Ruling: deuce22 Alternate Forum Account Banned

Recently, deuce22 accidentally posted his entry into trials using an alternate forum account. This is not allowed, per a rule under "Major Infractions" in the Rules:

Multiple accounts are not permitted. If you have a good reason for needing more than one account, contact an administrator and ask for permission. Usage of multiple accounts to circumvent penalties will result in a ban.

However, deuce was very forthcoming about this and was completely honest in our discussions. We (admins + TrOs) believe there was no abuse intended. As a result, we have issued a permanent ban on the alternate account, but no further action will be taken against deuce.

This thread can be used for a positive discussion on the ruling, along with any constructive feedback you may have. This is not the place for gossip or flaming. Oh, shame. I was planning on having an alternate account of my own. It's probably the best way to increase participation in leagues and competitions.

An appropriate decision, IMO, as the rule states that multiple forum accounts aren't permitted, but, there really wasn't anything malicious done with the account (such as circumventing bans, etc). Thank you, admins and TrOs. Though, I fear that some may get the wrong image that we don't ban prominent forum members for major infractions, which certainly isn't the case.

My hope is that the message this sends is that being honest will only help you. If you break a rule, confessing and apologizing is the best route to take. It may not get you out of all consequences, but it will definitely be taken into account when the  consequence is decided. Permanent bans are not given lightly, but make no mistake, they will be given when merited.
