Tournament Organizer

We are looking to hire ONE new Tournament Organizer. The work of a Tournament Organizer (TO) can be divided into two areas: planning and hosting. These are the main tasks:

• Discussing and planning future tournaments with the other TOs. This includes agreeing on the designated TOs for each tourney, and letting the other TOs know if you won't be available.
• Optimising deck-building rules for balance, and making sure the rules are simple and accurate.
• Tweaking of existing tournament concept ideas and creating new ideas.
• Providing support to the community, in the forms of questions via forum or chat PM, chat discussion, or in the tournament threads.

• Coordinating matches between participants when the tournament has started.
• Resolving conflicts between participants, potentially ranging from desynchs to accusations of cheating, and maintaining a cool and level head in order to make decisions objectively, as well as enforcing your authority.
• Ensuring rounds are finished on time, and making executive decisions if participants run too far past a reasonable time.
• Answering pressing questions in chat when the tournament is in progress.

• Last but no least, a TO has chat moderator powers too.

Requirements:

• Jr. Member or above.
• Being very active on the forum.
• Creativity needed in coming up with different tasks.
• Knowledge of bbcode, formatting, etc.
• For the above-mentioned tasks, a pinch of maturity and reliability is needed.

If you are interested, send me a PM titled "Tournament Organizer Application". Your application will be shared with the rest of the council, and we will discuss the applications. Don't forget to read about what the council looks for in an applicant if you haven't, and make sure to post what times you would be able to host tournaments. Keep in mind that tournaments range anywhere from two to four hours, and a Tournament Organizer must be present for the majority of that time. Also, remember that Tournament Organizers can participate in tournaments.


IMPORTANT NOTE: TO is a nice staff position that requires lots and lots of activity, a large amount of spare time and dedication. Keep this in mind when applying.

I know it sounds hard to do all the TO stuff, but if you are active enough and contribute to the teamwork, you can publish your own ideas as official tournaments.
Another benefit is that you'll have access to our forum private section, where all the magic comes to life~

I think it's useless to underline how much is important to have enough TO's to run tourneys, since no TO's = no tourneys = no reward codes for ya.

In case you were wondering why is Spike hurrying all of you, is because we barely got 2 applications, which is not a big sample enough to choose from. The minimum applicants need to be at least 5, so if you want tournaments to remain alive and going, please send in your applications.

Since I've been asked several times, I want to explain what "very active" means: being TO doesn't mean you've to stay logged 10 hours/day, but an almost daily activity is preferred (also only 10-15 minutes per day would be good).

We insisted on the activity because we want to avoid to hire someone that, soon after he was hired, disappears putting us back in the position of having to hire another TO.

About TO activities, oo plan and balance a tournament we use a dedicate thread in our section, so you'll have just to follow a discussion; posting a new tournament requires 15-20 minutes, hosting a tournament usually takes a couple of hours.

Last but not least, you won't be alone and you'll work with 2-3 more TO's.

I will just state that the only reason I'm not applying is that I tend to be busy on Fridays and Saturdays. Same reason I have almost never participated in tourneys.

It seems to be a general confusion, so I'm clarifying a bit now. We are looking for people who are active from monday to friday mostly, and only for 15-20 minutes (but almost daily). Hosting is the smaller problem, so we can handle that somehow (though sometimes a replacement host would be nice).
