  • Trials have finished, and War will be starting soon! With a new set of Warmasters new rules are sure to come with the new year. If you are interested in joining this year, please take a moment and read last years rules (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/war/war-11-rules/) as a refresher. If you have new ideas for changes, go add them to the suggestions and feedback (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/war/war-11-suggestions-and-feedback/) thread to help inspire the new WMs.

  • Three Man Team PvP has finished up in the 7th Round (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/three-man-team-pvp/three-man-team-pvp-8-round-7/msg1280831/#msg1280831). Congratz to worldwideweb3,JonathanCrazyJ, and rob77dp of team Tres Fabuloso.

  • Have you ever had a great idea for a new PvP Event? Post your rule sets in the PvP Event Ideas (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/post-your-pvp-event-ideas-here/) section, and let the PvPEMs know about your great idea so they can provide feedback and potentially run it if possibly.

  • The world was in trouble from all the doomsday devices brought by an earlier Competition, but InsignificantWeeaboo wrote a saving story in the  Haphazard Heroics (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/writing-competition-haphazard-heroics-(voting)/) writing competition.

  • In a future environment where technology makes all rules overly complicated, decks will face off against each other in a battle royal environment in the Simulated Violence (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/deckbuilding-competition-simulated-violence/) Deck building Competition. Currently the robot overlords are simulating the battle results, and we are awaiting these results (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/deckbuilding-competition-simulated-violence/msg1280948/#msg1280948).

  • Have you ever thought about redesigning the backgound for the forums? Try your hand at the current art competition Redecorating (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/art-competition-redecorating/) and show off your creative talents.

  • Stay in touch with the competition section by signing up for the Competition Mailing List (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/competitions-mailing-lists/)! It will guarantee you getting notified whenever there's a new competition going, so you can begin right away!

  • Hope for a lucky topdeck when drawing cards. In the September 1st Speedbuilding: Draw! (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/deckbuilding-competition-simulated-violence/) players had to build decks around the randomly drawn cards. Congratz to Vindilos on the win.

  • The Balrog will sit and wait for you. You Shall Not Pass! (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/pvp-tournaments/weekly-tournament-september-9th-you-shall-not-pass!-upgraded/) was September 9th's tournament about utilizing death, gravity, and aether based decks. Congratz to Manuel on the win.

  • Follow the bouncing colors. September 16th's Matching Chromatics (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/pvp-tournaments/weekly-tournament-september-16th-matching-chromatics-unupgraded/) had players building decks based around a pre-selected set of element trios. Congratz to Manuel on the win.

  • Tournaments have started a new upgrade rotation, with the introduction of semi-upped tourneys. In the first semi-upped tourney Helping Hand (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/pvp-tournaments/weekly-tournament-september-23rd-helping-hand-semi-upgraded/) on Sept. 23rd, players had to build decks around selected supportive cards. Congratz to moehrpi on the win.

  • Come one, come all and see the big top! September 29th's tournament Trouble at the Circus (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/pvp-tournaments/weekly-tournament-september-29rd-trouble-at-the-circus-unupgraded/) players chose whether they would be one of the employees or one of the beasts and use their faction divided deck lists. Congratz to Kalinuial on the win.

  • Leagues 2/2018 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/pvp-league/elements-pvp-league-22018/) has a little under 1 month left, go play games now before the season ends. After about  2 months having passed 28 players have already joined with 16 of them already qualifying for potential prizes. phoenix1211, Vindilos, and CactusKing lead the top of the charts, go now and play some games to see if you can have a chance at the top prizes. Also a special mention to shockcannon for having the most games played so far at 55 games, a feat that will help with the participation rewards for most games.

  • Are you starting to get bored of the regular unrestricted meta? Take your chance at the Weekly Featured Rules (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/pvp-league/weekly-featured-rules-63397/), and play some exciting new decks with a little more thought and strategic creative building.

  • Nothing new in this section. Do you have time to host a forum game? Let the current Forum Games Organizer Linkcat know and he will help find you a game to host for this awesome community.

All Over The Place!

  • Kalinuial has found a collection of classical music (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/music/elements-of-classical-music/) that each represent one of the twelve elements. Take a listen and post your thoughts or recommendations for each element.

  • Have you ever written a wall of text and wondered if people will understand your message? How about posting PvP related ideas for a new Event or Weekly Tourney rules and thought your grammar was clunky?  Fear no more as a local forum user, Submachine, has offered his assistance with any technical writing that may need to be completed on the forums. Read up on what he is willing to help with (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/off-topic-discussions/technical-writer-for-hire/msg1278879/#msg1278879) and then send him some forum related reviewing material.

  • A big thanks to all those that gave feedback with last month's NL survey. We have collected the data and realized that there are things that can be added to the newsletter to help improve it. One overlying theme among the replies was that original content was lacking. The NLW team has received this feedback and will be trying to implement more original content going forward. If you would still like to take the survey it can be found on this gdoc form (https://goo.gl/forms/K5iAQjywtiELl0f33).

  • Do you have any other idea for what can be featured in here? Feel free to PM us about what you think deserves a special spotlight in the community Newsletter!

Staff Changes (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?action=staff)

  • Welcome our new Warmasters, ji412jo asdw152 and mathman101, and we look forward to the awesome upcoming War that you will provide us!

Tea Time with Kalinuial

Below is a portion of the interview:

What weighs more, a pound of rocks or a pound of feathers? (InsignificantWeeaboo)
Scientifically, they weigh the same.  Spiritually, I’d say rocks weigh more than feathers.  They’ve been around for ages and taken on a lot of the world’s weight.

Who is your favorite from the previous Masters of Earth? (Submachine)
I couldn't say.  Because I'm pretty new, I didn't have a chance to meet the previous masters. I'm sure they all rock.

How does it feel to become a Master of an element after being relatively new to the community? (mathman101)
Is “deep” a feeling?..........

Find this answer and many more in Kalinuial's official interview (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/elements-council/featured-community-member/msg1281033/#msg1281033)

Deck idea by deuce22.

Card by card:

Amber Nymph: This is a key card for creating the Black Hole effect of stealing quanta from your opponents and healing your self.

Lightning:  The key creature control you have. If your opponent manages to slide out a few early or cheap creatures before you lock them down, this helps reduce the impact that they play in damaging your health.

Dimensional Shield: A defensive card to help stall out for setting up your key combo. With the amber nymphs requiring a high quanta cost, this helps delay long enough toget them out on the field for usage of the lockdown denial combo.

Quintessence: Used as protection from CC to keep your amber nymphs alive. Without this the squishy nymphs would surely die fast and not be able to use their abilities for creating the lock down.

Discord: This is a large part of the key combo in this deck. This weapon both deals some heavy damage, but more importantly scrambles the opponents quanta to make your nymphs abilities have more of a significant impact.

Entropy Pendulum: The key utilization of gaining quanta to play Discord. Also being a pendulum helps gain gravity quanta for playing your nymphs.

Aether Pendulum: The key utilization for gaining the needed quanta for playing your aether based cards (Lightning, Dim Shield, Quintessence).

Strategy:

If all goes as intended by the deck you stall with Dim shields and lightnings until you can play a nymph with a Quintessence on it for protection. Then you can use the Black Hole abilities from your nymphs while scrambling quanta with Discord for locking down the winning combo. Also a large note for this deck is that this was played during Trials with the restriction of being 50% in element, which is a major reasoning for having all of the additional aether cards in this variant.

Strengths:

With a perfect draw, this deck is very strong because the enemy deck basically has to kill in the first several turns against DBH before this deck can chain Discords and Black Hole abilities from the nymphs to victory. Or set up stalling of its own.
With a great draw, this deck is very strong against non-counter decks because the enemy deck has to kill in about 6 turns before this deck can chain the combo lockdown to victory.
With a good draw, it's not as strong but still quite viable.

Weaknesses:

Poor Consistency in draws.

Too much bypass damage like catatitans, unstable gas or poison. A rush that's not bad against DBH such as immorush with a bit of PC would counter this deck or if it's fast enough like perhaps freebird it may not need PC. Just like pretty much all poison stalls, too much healing or purify also counters it. A good amount of PC such as multiple explosions, shard of focus, and pulverizer.
Sanctuary.

Nice job NLWs! Did something in the bbcode break or is this a new format?
