- Relaxed and probably singing ♫♪♫"Live Is Life,"♪♫♪ mathman101 vanquished all of his opponents on June 2nd's Army of Weapons - Upgraded tournament, by using only one deck. He wrote on the forum: "I originally wasn't gonna play and was only gonna host, but about 10 minutes before it looked like I might need to play to make it 8 people so I speedbuilt 1 deck." Below is a mini interview I did with him:
Congratulations! I wish you future luck with having more tourneys which are so easily won.
- The June 13th tournament had contenders feeling like time reverted as Speedbuilding - Unupgraded was remarkably old school. This was won by Master of , SpikeSpiegel. I bet Spike stopped or at least slowed time to build his winning decks. When asked if he liked the tournament, he said: "Speedbuilding is always fun, above all for a lazy one/busy one...like me." In addition, he liked the fact that the tournament ended much sooner. This win means that he gets to add another WT trophy to add to his already great collection of awards. Of course, we wish you luck in winning even more fascinating PvP victories!
- DANIEELA showed that she had the best knowledge of the alphabet, by winning Alphabetized - Unupgraded, which was held on June 20th. Her favorite letter was obviously "F," because she won mainly thanks to mono rush Fire decks. Conversely, her final adversary, kirbylover314, has probably started to hate the letter "Q," as he used the card Quintessence illegally in their first game of their final match. Congratulations DANIEELA, and make sure to keep your lucky letters convenient for your future needs.
- It turns out that theelkspeaks is a professional healer. He proved it by winning Keep Healthy! - Unupgraded on June 27th. When I read elk's reply to my asking how he felt about the tournament, I decided to print his entire quote, which is shown in the spoiler below.
So, if you are in pain, seriously injured, or need medical intervention, visit our pro healer, elk.

Tea Time with RootRangerBelow is the portion of an interview:
Is confidence a virtue or a flaw?
It depends on how you define confidence. If confidence is an overvaluation of one’s abilities, then it is a flaw. If confidence is an accurate evaluation of one’s abilities, then it is a virtue. I believe that generally people make the best decisions when they have the most accurate information available to them, even information about themselves.
Elements Mafia is a game where you're truly skilled at both scumtelling as well as strategizing (for any side really). Is there any advice you'd like to give out to novice/immediate Mafia players who want to participate and or host?
If you’re playing in mafia, just read the rules. Oftentimes, a good strategy in one version of mafia is a bad strategy in another, because of differences in the rules. In the case of my Pokemon mafia, the civilians freely gave away their information to a mafia member who they thought was a civilian, ultimately causing their defeat. This strategy may have worked in another mafia with different rules, but not mine. As for hosts, I have just one piece of advice: implement both primary and secondary roles. Most of the players have a “vanilla” primary role (which allows the mafia members to claim to be vanilla), and secondary roles can go to either civilians or mafia members.
What player or players do you look up to most?
TStar was the very best at Leagues and Tournaments, and he spent more time building and testing decks than anyone I’ve known. Outside of PvP, Scaredgirl deserves recognition as the “founding father” of the Elements community. 10 men, Gl1tch, and The Mormegil were phenomenal writers. In fact, Trenzalore was largely inspired by The Mormegil’s Falling Empire.
What card can not live without?

Fireflight [Air/Fire] by PuffThis deck review was written by DiscordHover over cards for details, click for permalink 6rk 6rk 7ds 7ds 7ds 7ms 7ms 7ms 7ms 7ms 7mt 7mt 7mt 7mt 7mt 7mt 7mv 7mv 7n4 7n4 7n4 7n4 7n4 7n4 7nq 7nq 7nq 7nq 7nq 7nq 8pr Fireflight is a basic deck, easy and simple to use, all you have to do is watch out for certain unpredictable cards. Fireflies and Damselflies are the two main sources of quantum you need, keep and eye on those! of course as soon as you get the shards out, keeping them safe from targeting will be a breeze. phoenixes are for extra damage, and the sword are just in case you have nothing else to use against your opponent.
Long sword:2 : these are just in case you have nothing else to use against your opponent, a backup in a way, and they barely cost anything, it might be worth it if your opponent is close to dying and all your creatures are gone.
Minor Phoenix:3 : these are for extra damage, and a very low cost too. even now, if they die, you can always re spawn them. that way the damage just keeps coming!
Wind Tower:5 : in case you don't get exactly what you need on the first turn, towers should always be a second option. they provide quanta as much as damselflies do, and cost nothing as well. without these towers, you'll only get a dragon out slower.
Damselfly:6 : Damselflies are used for excess quanta as well as dealing a little bit of damage to your opponent. they look cute, don't they? don't be fooled, they may not deliver much in the way of damage, but they are still important to getting the quanta you need.
Sky Dragon:2 : also built for dealing damage, they may cost alot in the way of quanta, but you'll find it's useful once out. they deal a fair amount of damage, at the price of quanta. but quanta build up faster when you have everything you need out.
Elite Firefly:6 : fireflies are good, they do a little more damage than damselflies, and produce the much needed fire quanta for this deck and the phoenixes. they are still important to this deck, if you want this deck to be complete. it does damage as well as deliver fire quanta to you.
Shard Of Freedom:6 : in order for your creatures to be safe, these shards are pretty much wanted for this deck, wouldn't you hate it if all your creatures were killed? this allows creatures to avoid targeting as well as deal double damage, therefore killing your opponent faster.
deck weaknesses: again, lobo is bad for this deck, lobotomizing your creatures' abilities means no more excess quantum. Fire storm and plague or retrovirus and Discord are just as bad for this deck. with no counters, this deck has quiet a few weaknesses. Skull Buckler/skull shield are huge in the interference of this deck, wouldn't want your creatures turning into skeletons would you?
deck strengths: plenty of quantum to go around here! pests shouldn't be a problem, neither should any other quantum stealers. once you get the shards out, the creatures can't be targeted with anything, they do double damage too. the extra quantum can be used in case of reverse times.
Firelight is a basic, fun deck, but calls for many precautions. it provides experience for the element of air and fire both, and it's just to have a little fun.
This card idea of the month is brought to you by Frozengaia.
Part of a Series Zblader has done based around the upgraded card being allowed to, over time, generate its unupped counterpart, I personally believe this one to be the best thus far. Justice allows you to force the next creature that would deal damage, be it you or your opponent, to lose 5 ATK, even allowing them to go into negative ATK. This card sounds simple, but there are a lot of nuances. For example, being a permanent, its affect can only take place the turn after you play it, making it better played as a warning, causing people to delay playing their bigger creatures whilst a smaller one does the crime. After all, playing it in reaction to a creature means that creature gets to attack twice. This card heavily punishes playing creatures yourself - you attack before your opponent as far as this card cares, after all. You could even consider that a loss of merit to the card. However, this is a good time to remind you that Light has both Morning Glory and is the default duo for firestalls. Light doesn't need to play creatures. The upgraded's continuing recur should not be underestimated, as it makes decking a user of it impossible without shard of bravery. This recur, coupled with the lack of ways to deal with spells, makes this, perhaps, an even easier anti-deckout measure than eternity, which I'm sure rainbow stalls will appreciate. As far as playability is concerned, I do not see this being used as creature control in traditional firestalls, but the upgraded is certainly worth playing in a time/light stall or Siphonary, the dark/light stall. The unupped can be used to soften the opponent whilst light gets enough quanta to cast its highly expensive dragons - bear in mind that this allows negative attack, thus healing. A deck with good creature control can remove creatures in front and then allow justice to turn into a SoGra's worth of healing... But the question that should be asked is whether it's worth both justice and the CC in question. Overall, Justice | Oppression is an interesting card that forces players to think when against it. And as an honourable mention: Fippe94 Recently created "The Average CIA card", which has the mean card type, element, cost, ATK, HP, and has an ability worded from only the top 20 most commonly used cards ever since CIA began. It says good things that this is a surprisingly balanced, thematically accurate, and all-around good card.
