Also, talk about best subtly rude comment by Frank.

I am not trying to be rude. I am just informing you that I do not like ads, and that I remove them from everywhere. In my opinion it is a wrong way to try to earn a living, to put things on a site that everyone knows is annoying. I make a living by having a "normal" job, and I don't have to annoy others in order to exist.

You're not trying to be rude, but you're posting what elicits a "Cool story bro" response. People doesn't earn a living off this forum, quite the opposite. We go out, get a normal job, then after paying bills, spend some on this forum for the community. Crockett shouldn't've been sarcastic really, we've tried supporting the forum without ads. In the end anti picks up the tab to make up the difference, & he supports that you don't need advertising, but then reconfirming his opinion.. it seems so redundant. If you're going to be redundant, there are basic protocols that allow communicating support for a statement, such as posting "+1"

I'm probably going over the top here, & your initial remark wouldn't illicit such response from me, but the follow up on explaining how you weren't being rude ended up being counter to the statement. It's as if I were to say "I don't hate women, but I think it's wrong they're allowed to run corporate entities" it sort of nullifies the initial statement. So there, I've put up a strawman fallacy for you to fallacy fallacy me & move on

We're still strapped for cash, so how about this? People pay for time, not clicks, so projecting revenue is much more straightforward. And because of the bidding mechanism, ads can be put up by community members, and don't come from the middle of an ad octopus.

I'll take a look into this :)

As a general statement:
Fortunately we're not at all strapped for cash right now, and it's nice not having ads, but we should have a safety net regardless. If people choose to block ads, I don't think we should be upset. Those who don't block them should be thanked. In return, we should strive to have the least obnoxious ads possible. That means no pop-ups, no noises, no flashing animations. So this is a big part of finding a good ad service.
