Rules
Each round, you must target one player by sending a PM to RootRanger. Rounds last 48 hours.
You cannot target yourself. If you do not send in a target, it is randomized.
When the round ends, if you are targeted by an even number of players (0, 2, 4…), you are eliminated.
If you are targeted by an odd number of players (1, 3, 5…), you advance to the next round.
At the end of each round, I will reveal who was eliminated. The last surviving player is the winner.
Players are allowed to PM each other to form teams/alliances.
Players are allowed to lie about who they targeted and what other players told them.
Players are not allowed to quote or screenshot private messages.

Alliances may get you far in the game, but in the end, there is only 1 winner.

It is impossible, as long as the initial number of players is odd.

Sign-ups would probably last 4 days. If we're at an even number, then they would be extended until we have 1 more player (or 1 less).

There are other problems with having an even number of players. It's very possible that everyone would die, and there would be no winner at all. This would require bringing people back to life to start the round all over again, and that would just be silly. Furthermore, the deathmatch rules would have to be fairly complicated, because I wouldn't want something silly like rock-paper-scissors. But I wouldn't like to complicate the rules, because I really like the simplicity in this game. The entire rules can be read through in 30 seconds, and I want to keep it that way.

Would the event be put on "pause" if a non-eliminated person dropped out until you get 1 more or 1 less? Maybe create a substitute slot incase someone drops.

There is no dropping out. If you don't send in your target, it's randomized. You'll probably die within one or two rounds anyways.
