Elements Mafia 21
RULES:
Objectives: There are two sides: the False Gods (FGs) and the Civilians. The Civilians win by lynching the FGs and the FGs win by killing the Civilians.
Process: This game consists of rounds. I will post a countdown timer when the round ends. There are two parts to a round: the Day Phase and the Night Phase. The Day Phase lasts the entirety of the round in the online version. The Night Phase is instant and consists of the host declaring who was lynched and who was killed, along with any other events that need mentioning. During the day phase, players vote on who will be lynched that round. There will always be someone chosen for lynching. Ties will be broken by a random number generator. Also, if a player has a special ability that requires them to PM the host in order to use it, they do this during the day phase.
PMing: Players are free to PM whoever they want. However, quoting another player's PM is not allowed (unless you are sending it to the Host), nor can you ask another player about what the host PM'd them (you can ask them what their identity is, but nothing about the PM sent to them). Also, when you are killed in the game, you may no longer PM or post in the thread.
Mod-Killing: Any player in violation of the rules will be mod-killed. Also, any player inactive for two rounds in a row will be mod-killed. I will do this.
Players: Each player has a primary role and a secondary role. Both roles are only known to you at the start of the game (except for the FGs, who know each other's primary roles).
ROLES:
Every Round (ER)
Every Other Round (EOR)
One-Time Use (OTU)
Primary Roles: The game has four primary roles.
Civilian - The ordinary, everyday player. This role has no special ability. You simply get to vote.
False God - Evil. At the start of the game all the FGs receive PMs that inform them of all the other FGs. Each round they agree upon who to target an PM this to the Host. Their target will be killed during the round's Night Phase.
Seer - (EOR) - Target a player. The Host will PM you what that player's primary and secondary abilities are.
Doctor - (EOR) Target a player. If that player is targeted by the FGs, that player does not die. If that player is Virus'd, they will live for one more round.
Secondary Roles: The game has (x number of) secondary roles. These are randomly distributed between each player at the start of the game. To target a player with an ability, PM the Host with the abilty and player.
Chimera - (ER) - At the start of each round the Host will will PM the player with Chimera a random ability that they can use for that round.
Con Artist - (EOR) - Target a player and a voting target. That player's vote is switched to the voting target. Not permanent.
Crusader - (OTU) - Target a player. Gain ability of target player. They are not contacted. Permanent.
Dune Scorpion - (ER) - Vote for a player. That player is PM'd stating that they are Neurotoxin'd. When ever that player uses an ability, they gain 1 Poison Counter.
Fallen Elf - (ER) - Target a player. That player gains a random ability. Permanent.
Gambler - (EOR) - Target 2 players. One player's role is revealed to the other at random. The Gambler does not get this information.
Ghost - (ER) - When killed can still vote for the remainder of the game. This is done by sending a PM to the Host.
Guardian Angel - (ER) - Target a player. Remove all Poison Counters and Neurotoxin from target player.
Immortal - (OTU) - Automatically saved from death once per game. This ability is not restored even if Tradesman'd or Crusader'd.
Mind Flayer - (EOR) - Target a player. That player's ability is unusuable for the remainder of the round.
Mindgate - (EOR) - Target a player. The Host will PM you what that player's secondary ability is.
Precog - (EOR) - Target a player. If the target player is ever targeted by the FGs, then the Precog is informed. Permanent.
Purple Nymph - (ER) - Target a player. That player's vote is inverted. Not permanent.
Scorpion - (ER) - Vote for a player. That player is PM'd stating that they received a Poison Counter. Each Poison Counter counts as 1 vote for that player.
Tradesman - (OTU) - Target a player. Gain ability of that target player. Target player's ability is now Tradesman.
Virus - (OTU) - Target a player. You die instantly. Target player is PM'd that they are Virus'd and that they will die at the end of the round. If targeted by the Doctor, target player will live for one more round.
Vulture - (ER) - Vote power starts at 0 and increases by 0.5 votes each time a person dies.
Warden - (EOR) - Target a player. Your vote and that players votes are 0.
Witness - (OTU) - Target any players. If any of those players would be lynched, they are not lynched this round. The Witness' role is revealed.
Wyrm - (ER) - Target a player. That player's vote is doubled. Not permanent.

Mindgate isn't a verb, you don't call "Vulture" ability "scavenger", you just call it "Vulture."

I think Virus should give poison counters, just more than Scorpion gives. Alternatively, make it 1 poison counter and add more Vultures to the game so that the civilians benefit from virus sacrifice.

I think virus should be kept secret from the target. I'm ok with them living until the end of the round, but they shouldn't know before they die.
I'm also concerned that the large number of roles will thin out the roles that are really helpful to the civilians, like gambler.
In order to prevent first round snipes of the seer, which makes it very hard for the civies to win, I suggest that seer be a tag team ability of sorts. There would be 2 seers, but they would still only get to seer one person between them every other round. It just makes it so they won't get killed off in the first round.

I'm in. Lots of new roles. Things could get really confusing with all the massive vote-modding available. I can also see where Scorpion/Dune Scorpion can be easily abused if you get 2 together and just have them start targeting players. Hitting the Seer or Doctor with Neurotoxin could really nerf them both since they'd start risking killing themselves to use their abilities.

Still, with mutations and such there could be more and if the FGs start with both of those they can go a long way towards preventing themselves from getting lynched for a very long time. Adding vote counters to a single player every round adds up quickly.

I think Guardian Angel should have a secondary effect, like purify
Because you can use it as 1 healing every turn, it becomes less of a deadweight card in the game
Similarly, I think that what patch mentioned would also be good.

The guardian angel is pretty lame(guardian angel means: i need a mutation, please!), especially considering that poison isnt a major threat until late game(most of the other vote manipulation outrushes scorps).
The funniest one is mindgate. FG/mindgate means someone could tell a civy their secondary and act like if you were the seer(do not try on doctors or seers, for your own safety).

Yes I knew spike was a FG and im guessing his afkness caused his death since he didn't swap his vote to me... which also could be why FGs missed a first turn night kill.... So now im suspicious of the other people that voted for me. I ended up mindflayering shiningsword no idea what he is though. Also I recieved a poison counter so one of the people that voted for me is a scorpion. Gonna wait to vote maybe ill get some info, lots of time left in the round. So in order to try and save yourself you don't use chat or PMs but you just announce to the entire town that you are a valuable gambler? How do you think you will survive from those murderers now? You are one of the citizens they have been desperately trying to kill and you just made it easy for them. Even if we don't kill you, I'm fairly certain they will. I'm not sure if you are just incredibly reckless or just a liar or even one of the murderous thugs saying that to try and save yourself. Not matter which one I for one will feel safer with you out of the picture because your judgement is you really are a gambler is severely lacking.
Also, will the tradesman please take that from him ASAP in the event he is being truthful. Even if by some miracle he survives I for one will feel much safer if the gambler remains unknown to the murders.

I may change my vote still but for now I can't think of anyone else who is more dangerous to us citizens than this guy and his terrible judgement. I for one would certainly never trust him enough to not do something stupid, and that's just never going to work for a potential ally.

Yes, but for all we know, the Tradesman is an FG right now. Anyway, I really don't see the flaw in his reveal. If he's going to die by lynch, why not tell he's a certain role? If he dies by lynch, nothing will have changed. If he changes the votes enough to survive, he'll force the FGs to spend a kill to get him, and if whoever we pick instead of him to lynch is an FG, we'll have come out on top, even if we do lose our gambler.

Ok, so I was a tradesman and I traded Zerg to get his gambler. Someone just took it from me. The only people who knew I took it were Kourgar, Zerg, and TStar. One of them is most likely an FG. I say we lynch one of them them.

Well, I can confirm that jippy is telling the truth, at least it matches the conversation I had with him earlier. I know it wasn't me, and I already think TStar is acting slightly different from normal, so...yeah. I'm already voting for him, so I can't make his vote count grow, though I'd ask that those voting for Legit change to him.

Check my voting record then. Who was one of the first to vote for patch? Who broke the tie between jay and Spike? Yep, I'm definitely acting suspicious. Oddly enough the conversation I had with jippy he told me that if anything happened to him that I should lynch you next round, and he also said nilsie probably knew about the trade as well so I'm not sure why jippy went and left that little tidbit out. I'll go link the posts in a second but if you wanna call me suspicious for voting on 2 FGs and one guy who outed himself (didn't realize it was his first time for some reason I thought he'd done this before) then I'm not sure what your angle is. I'd also like to point out that jippy came to me and told me all this stuff without any prompting whatsoever. I never whispered him, I never PM'd him, I never asked him to tell me his roles he just decided to do all that on his own. Really right now I feel like I'm being set up for some reason to try and save Legit.

Voting twice on FGs, ya maybe I'm lucky but especially in the case of Spike that vote was close and changing my vote for all I know coulda have saved him. I don't see why I'd break two ties on other FGs by voting for them if I was also one. I guess none of that counts for anything simply because I voted for someone who I felt made a big mistake and who had gambler taken from him already.
On that note, if I wanted to arrange to have gambler taken why the heck would I do all this to do it? I simply would have told whatever tradesman I knew to take it from Zerg King in the first place instead of posting and asking someone to do it. How in the world would I know that jippy would take it and approach me and reveal that information to me unsolicited? Hell, if I was a FG I could simply have jippy night killed. Me somehow arranging for gambler to be stolen from him makes no sense whatsoever since if I was a tradesman or had one under my control I could have done all that in the first place without all this crazy steps and blind luck required to do it this way. Sheesh jippy, next time do me a favor and talk to me before you toss me under the bus like that because whoever put that crazy scheme into your head either has an agenda they are using you to promote or are just way too paranoid and not thinking straight. Have you ever even considered that Zerg King might have traded to get it back from you?

Well, with votes as is, I don't know that what I say, one way or the other, will really make any difference. I suppose it's possible that the tradesman was pure luck. Or that the other Gambler targeted the Tradesman and Jippy. It just seems odd that he lost that ability right after gaining it, and I know it wasn't me.
@TStar, so...I'd guess that either you are an FG, or jippy is one and trying to create two sides for a conflict. That doesn't really seem like his style(I was an FG with him last round), but I won't exclude the ability. As for me calling you suspicious, it doesn't have anything to do with voting pattern. You just attacked zerg with a fervor that seemed a bit different than normal. Usually that's what you have to look for in a game like this. One particular kind of behavior might not be suspicious for just anyone, but if it's different from a specific person's normal gameplay it might mean something. Or it might not. Only time will tell.

The only guys who can be so sure of someone's innocence are gamblers(maybe zerg gamblered you? he should confirm if this is true), the seer(would prefer to shut up if he is smart) and FG's(duh, if you know all FG's then the other people are innocents), so dont even think it would prove anything by itself.
I'm curious... Should I use my Witness ability on myself, and stall the civies because they voted for me, or just let myself die?
Do the right thing for the civys and yourself(dead guys win if their side wins).

This is what, the 3rd or 4th time Calindu is going to survive? I'm calling Bs on this. In the past games, an FG had been saved from bandwagon several times. Between Legit and Calindu, I find Calindu to be more suspicious, and since they were both Immortals, we have to take initiative, and go after suspicious people, NOT random bandwagons! Not this late in the game!

Huh, people you thought were suspicious? I thought you were just revenge voting, or so you told me. Must admit though that if you considered 7_Deadly_Sin (round 4), Malebolgia (round 5), and EvaRia (round 6) all suspicious I'm wondering why you never chose to share that with anyone, or vote for any of them a second time. Especially since you've been the only player outside of rounds 1 and 2 to vote for Malebolgia or EvaRia.
Also there seems to be a third con artist out there. If Nepycros is telling the truth about being neurotoxin'd then someone must have conned someone onto him. Oddly enough the only person to vote him last round was calindu, who wasn't a con artist or a dune scorpion. If anyone has any info on players who've been mutated so far nows the time to come clean because someone on that list is probably a FG shuffling votes around. Unless I get some info on this front, I'll leave my vote on jay since his reasoning for his votes seems iffy at best.

I figured this would happen since the civvys are about to lose they were going to bandwagon someone like me to get the win....
Reason for malebolgia, a third round "random" vote to try and start another bandwagon on me which almost worked again.
Reason for Evaria... He tried to make himself look good by not voting for Seraph then started bandwagons on the people that did.. which ended up being all civvys
So yes I do think they are suspicious, if you wanna vote for me go ahead the civvys will lose, but then again if you do you're probably mafia.

Ya pretty well played Tstar, though I thought you might be a fg when you voted for me randomly. Ya this seemed like the story of civvys not playing so well. The seer of Tstar and not telling anyone hurt us quite a bit since he was the vulture we needed to take out.

I knew it! I was suspicious of T since we first were allied! And, no offense to you, but Calindu, you might have possibly played the worst civvy mafia ever.
Don't be so hard on him. Once nilsie and you died he was sorta left on an island and I was able to exploit that to gain his trust and definitely sway some of his actions. He took Immortal from 7_Deadly_Sin based off my advice, and as long as he had Korugar willing to vote with him I never needed to do much to try and make myself stick out. I did my best to just offer some thoughts but never connect the dots so that everyone came to the conclusions I wanted them to on their own. I also did my best to make sure confirmed civs wouldn't go public and it worked well. The fear of being FG killed was strong out there and I was able to use it to get lots of people to turtle up and hide. I was able to do just enough to be suspicious, but not as suspicious as others out there and it definitely let the FGs influence the calindu/jippy alliance for quite some time (and they picked Seraph to kill even without my help!).
It was definitely a very fun game to play and RNG seems to have loved me yet again with Seraph dying before he could out me. Thank goodness he picked the weekend he did to be out of town! Also, thank goodness for my instincts lol. I basically guessed at the identity of the Doctor just because something seemed off, what luck that it happened to be the round he was using his powers to save ZK (ironic since we figured ZK would be protected so there was no point trying to kill him). So many things went right after starting out with so much failure (dammit Spike, why didn't you use Crusader that first day like we said and Svenningen getting modkilled, and us utterly failing to send in a kill TWICE lol). Most of all Seraph winding up dead the exact round he was out of town and happened to Seer me. That right there was the difference. It's kinda crazy how thin of a line there is in Mafia between success and failure.
