Heyho, as the current Duel Overseer has not been active in a long time, at least not concerning promoting, moderating or renewing the Duels section, I wanted to remind people that this was a staff position to exist once. I think the Duels section is a great place where huge opportunities lie idle (I somehow hope my own challenge there can prove that point) and could really become something. Thus, I wanted to ask what the Council thinks about this. And of course, what everyone else thinks about it. :p

Spoiler for Hidden:
Here are some very spontaneous (!) ideas how the Duels section could be reformed. Please note that they are only for a small part actual suggestions, but mainly ment to prove that there are several creative options on how to realistically reform the section.

a) In cooperation with the Event Organizers, an Event is submitted which challenges competitors to run their own PvP event in the duels section. They are responsible for absolutely everything themselves - rules, deadlines, promotion, motivation, and so on. In the end, there is a voting which event was the best. The host receives a forum icon.

b) There could be a score board similar to the one for forum games, where players can gather points by fighting forum duels with the rules existing at the moment*. After a half a year (or whatever), the highest ranked player receives a 'Duelist' forum icon. Other rewards could be the qualification for WC or the like.

*I'd actually ignore W/L there and only reward participation itself, as duels are, in my opinion, supposed to be something in between two Events that both forced you to spam Dim Shields, finally enabling you to play a funny trio or the like. (Of course, if you and your opponent agree, you can both tryhard aswell. The freedom of duels is its beauty.)

Bump. I'd really appreciate an answer here, doesn't have to be a Council member. I'd also like to know how other people feel about this, or if I am one of the few fans of Duels here. :)

I would consider myself a fan, but with all the other PvP I do my 'schedule' just hasn't allowed me to venture much at all into the Duel realm.  A Duel Overseer that was active and making the Duel section into something the community could really use again would go a long ways towards bringing me on board to participate in Duels.

I think these are great ideas to relive this section.

Note that I find it intimidating that I am the first non-master to post here.

I haven't been able to participate in any PvP duel events yet and I think that we may need a new duel organizer. There would most likely be 2 reasons I have not participated in one yet: the current duel organizer doesn't post much (who is he/she?), and 2nd, the first one I have seen that hasn't started while I've been on holidays is BtH 2.5 and that seems like an event that needs experience from past BtH's to be able to fully understand the rules and get the full enjoyment from it.

With a new duel organizer, the duel section may finally light up again and newcomers will get more active in it and be able to experience the full EtG forum life.
