A different way to categorize decks https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=23434.msg298851#msg298851

I don't know if this is possible, but if you could add "tags" to decks like "rainbow" "50% Darkness" "Gravity" "EM"  "Rush" "FG"

Then on the side of the Deck section, there could be boxes you could check if you would like to search that. Tags are added by the deck maker.

This would solve (what I see as a problem) of 30 pages of decks if you are searching for ones.

I don't know if something like this has been suggested already.

This is definitely something I'd want to see if it's possible. Tagging threads is one of those features which is so rarely on most forums, but here would be incredibly helpful to newbies and oldbies alike.

A tag system would be really nice and indeed very helpfull.
i think such a idea was allready around somewhere.

idk yet , how difficult it would be to implement the coding part.
maybe we could do something with the message icons?
(but we cant sort/search for the icons yet)

also we would need the definitions of the tags:
what should be taged as rush, em deck, stall...

We DID have a tagging system before. But it was not used at all and mostly only made loading slower and so was took out.

Like many have already said, we had tagging system before. Reasons why it sucked:

1. Nobody used it (we had a poll)
2. Those who put in tags, usually put "bad" ones, making the whole thing pretty pointless

Reason #2 could have been fixed with time, and with instructing people to use "correct" tags, but reason #1 is more difficult to fix.

Oh interesting. I guess I haven't been around long enough  :P .

I wouldn't mind going through the deck section and adding the tags. or making just an outline for what tags, but like you said that is only the first problem. I do wonder if the community feels any differently about them now?

But if doesn't work out that's fine, it was just a suggestion.

#1 the use of such tags is getting more important, due the high amount of deckposts.
probably will be used more often yet. could be worth a try.

#2 the taging system would need to be very simple (like only tag the opponents). newer forum members have allready problems enough with the deckpost hirarchie, deckimage code ...

and i guess such a system will need mod control to work.
you could count on my support.

I think any help would be useful now. The deck compilation is like a huge library that is totally random... I cannot find anything. It will take some energy and time (yelling at people who screw up) but once people have that down, it should greatly improve the deck section. I wouldn't even mind mapping some of the existing decks myself.

Also people who are posting decks that are just really bad should be banned or something. That or maybe we need a junk folder.

I would prefer that all decks to be tagged by what kind of opponent you are going for. [PvP AI3 T50 AI5 FG].
Once the reworked T50 is done something should be done. Oh and a [Fun/Weird/Unusual] category too for those kind of decks.

I never try to find decks in the deck section anymore because i don't want to sift through deck after deck until I find a new FG or whatever deck idea. The old system when decks were posted in the type of AI they were targeted at was way better in my mind.

Monos, duos-trios or rainbow divided sections is utterly pointless to me, a monkey can make a mono deck, a hell of a lot fewer can make a deck that actually use a strategy to take down a certain opponent.
