Welcome to Aurdinas, the City of Gold.
Built over an endlessly-prospering gold mine just outside the borders of several countries, this city controls the flow of gold in Elementia. The Baron of Aurdinas is a wealthy, greedy man, who cares for nothing but the copious amounts of gold flowing directly into his own personal vault.
One day, the miners in Aurdinas heard a noise from the horizon - an unnatural noise that pierces the ears, an unheavenly screech that no human mouth nor machine could conjure.
A great red Dragon rose up from the horizon, its senses set on the stench of gold emanating from the settlement. Aurdinas was well-fortified but even they were no match for the Dragon. Aurdinas went down in flames, every single one of its citizens scorched to death, or suffocated in the smoke. After every last building had been razed to the ground, the Dragon made its home atop the dead Baron's hoard of gold.
Aurdinas is under Dragon occupation.
Incidentally, this also means that no one actually owns Aurdinas at the moment... and Aurdinas is just outside the borders of a few countries, in its own little territory. Whoever kills the dragon first will have a chance to expand their territory and will control the largest source of gold this world has ever known.
This is your task. Each of the countries' rulers will assemble a team to make their way to Aurdinas and do battle with the Dragon. Whoever defeats it will control the gold mines! And will also get a forum award icon for their profiles!
What is Forum Brawl?Forum Brawl is a forum event where several teams show their snazziness against each other in different tasks that happen all around the forums.
Teams will have between ~6 members, each with a variety of skills and roles. Players go head-to-head against players from other teams by doing tasks related to these various roles. An Expert Panel decides which players perform the best, and points are awarded accordingly. After 5 rounds of brawling, the team with the highest score will be the winner.
What makes Forum Brawl different from most other events is the fact that
there is no PvP in Forum Brawl. The event is all about creativity, artistic skills, and most importantly, forum awesomeness.
BrawlmastersWe will have two
Brawlmasters who are responsible for Forum Brawl event. They will have an active role in designing the tasks for each round, and will handle all the day-to-day actions like posting new topics or replying to questions about the event. Brawlmasters will be appointed by the Elements Council. This time around they are
CleanOnion and
Fippe94.
How to Join Forum BrawlForum Brawl will usually happen right after War event ends, or soon thereafter. Once the sign-up topic is posted and the Royalty are made public, any community members may join the event.
Each player will create a short application in their own thread for the Royalty to later vote on. An example is given below. Players should list their top 3 favorite teams, their Preferred Tasks, time zone, and availability. Team names will be made available before the application phase; these names will be chosen by the Royalty and may have some impact on the tasks. Additionally, members should, if able, create a short portfolio of their works via links to show their ability and should write a small paragraph on why they would be good members for Brawl. Important things to consider are dependability, availability, and skill.
There a six types of Task, shown below, and an ideal team would include 6 members whose Preferred Tasks meet all those categories. For example, in a team with 6 players:
- Royalty: Master A
- Bard: Player B
- Enchanter: Player C, Player D
- Crusader: Player E
- Wizard: Player D, Player F
- Scribe: Player C
This is a good team because, between all players, each task has someone doing it. If a Boss makes a team in which nobody wants to do one of the Tasks... well, that team's submissions for that Task won't be very good!
Building the TeamBosses will have 50 initial points to be spent on their team members. They will bet with these points and will start Brawl with the remaining ones. They can not go into negative points. Bidding will occur in Google Docs (or in application threads, if the bosses prefer) that any member can see at any time. If a player already have the winning bid on 6 players, he cannot bid on a new player.
If two Bosses bet equally for a player, the Boss who are highest on that player's favorite list gets the player. If neither of the tied Bosses are the favourite list, whoever bet first gets the player. If a player has to be substituted in later to replace inactive team members, they will cost the boss the average cost of all players who were bid on.

Why I would make a good Brawl member: I would make a good Brawl member because if you don't vote for me, you are discriminating against onions. And that is illegal.
Tasks1. Royalty (Boss)From birth, you and your royal blood have been destined to lead your country to victory. Each team will have a
King or Queen whose main responsibility is to build the team. Kings and Queens will also participate in the event by duelling other Kings/Queens in random tasks. Royalty is different from other roles because you do not sign up to be a King/Queen in the normal application phase.
Masters of each element will first be given the opportunity to become Royalty. If fewer than five of the Masters are interested, there will be a public application thread for Royalty, and the Brawlmasters will select a number of applicants to bring the total number of bosses up to five. The event is
not compulsory, so Masters should not be afraid to decline if they feel they do not have enough time or interest.
King/Queen tasks will vary between each of the other roles.
2. Enchanter (Card Design)You've worked in the military smithy for years and can craft powerful enchanted weapons, armour and tools with ease.Enchanter tasks are based on designing EtG-style cards for a variety of purposes by producing a new card idea based on theme and restrictions posted each round. Enchanters must not produce artwork for their card unless otherwise specified.
3. Crusader (Deckbuilder)You're in charge of recruiting, training, and sending forces into battle, easily raising armies from any locale.Crusaders are expected to assemble decks based on theme and restrictions posted each round. You may be expected to write a little to explain the deck although this is normally optional.
4. Bard (Artist)Your prowess in everything artistic has led to your reputation as an experienced motivator and distractor.Bard tasks revolve around producing artwork. Unless otherwise specified you may use any medium you desire. Please note that despite the name, a Bard will never be required to produce music or song (although you may if you wish).
5. Scribe (Writer)You own several pens.Scribes are required to write stories, poems and prose.
6. Wizard (Forum Expert & Off Topicker)Your prowess in almost every field makes you a versatile and challenging opponent for any foe with the arrogance to challenge you.Wizard tasks are almost completely unpredictable. You will be expected to handle any challenge that comes your way. This role requires many well-rounded skills.
Submission rules for each category may be altered each round based on the task.
Additionally, players may choose to be a
Mercenary (Substitute)You just want fame, glory and riches, and it doesn't matter how you get it. Your allegiance lies with the highest bidder.Mercenaries do not participate at the start of the event. Instead, they act as a sort of backup in case other players go inactive and their team require substitutes. Mercenaries replace inactive team members, and will get the forum award icon if that team wins as if they had joined at the start of the event.
Players may sign up as a Mercenary once the event has begun, or include it in their Preferred Roles.
Remember, just because you've picked a role as your preferred choice doesn't mean you're not allowed to do any other tasks. Once you're in your team, you'll normally find that everyone helps out a little bit everywhere. Let your King/Queen divide up the tasks!
RoundsForum Brawl has a total of
5 rounds, each lasting
7 days. A new round will start as soon as the last one ends. Tasks will be relatively simple so 7 days should be more than enough time to perform them. Overall workload of Forum Brawl will be much less than in events like War and Trials. The event lasts 7-8 weeks in total.
ScoringScoring will be based on a community vote. Each task will be judged independently from the other tasks in a round (including each component of a Combo task). All of the submissions in a task will be ranked into an order based on how many votes they earned from the community.
For each round, there will be a voting thread posted in the main Brawl board. This thread will contain a copy-paste-able table for voters to copy and fill in their votes as well as each submission that is to be voted on. A sample table is included in the spoiler below.
Each voter should assign "voting points", or
voints, to as many submissions as they like. Each voter must allocate 10 voints per task, and a voter isn't allowed to give more than 5 voints to a single submission. If you like, you can give 5 voints to 2 submissions, or divide it up as much as you like. But don't give an equal number of voints to all the submissions, because that's really boring and nobody will like you.
To let people see your thought process, you should also give your reasoning on at least the team that you gave the most voints. Feel free to give your reasoning for any other voints you gave!
Additionally, there will be a Voter's Panel. This will operate like a little Brawl team, except the submissions it produces will be votes.
Voters who are part of the Voter's Panel and voters who are not will have exactly the same amount of voting power. However, Voter's Panelists are obligated to vote each round. Being on the Voter's Panel comes with a fair chunk of community respect and the opportunity to get your voice heard in the event, so do consider signing up. Sign ups will run at the same time as Royalty/Boss applications. Brawlmasters will be part of the Voter's Panel.
Players who are part of a Brawl team are not allowed to vote.Scoring will happen during rounds so that the scoring of round 1 will happens during round 2, scoring of round 2 happens during round 3, etc. Scoring will be shown in Google Docs to the public at any given time.
Once all of the votes are counted, each submission is ranked within its task and will earn points for the team that produced it according to the following table.
Place ~> Round v | 5th | 4th | 3rd | 2nd | 1st |
Round 1 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
Round 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
Round 3 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14 |
Round 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14 |
Round 5 | 9 | 12 | 15 | 18 | 21 |
Tasks are split into two categories: Basic and Combo. Combo tasks are like 2 (or more!) tasks merged into one, and each "sub-task" is voted on separately. You'll understand once you see one, don't worry.
Challenges A team may, at any time, challenge another team to a contest they choose in any field of Brawl. They both have the remainder of the Round to complete the assignment. The community votes on the challenges the next voting phase. The winner gains 8 points and the loser loses 8 points. The challenged team may decline the challenge, in which case they forfeit 5 points. Teams may also issue combo challenges, in which they issue multiple tasks that work together and that are appropriate for multiple team members (such as a challenge to make a card for an Artist-Card Design combo). For these, each task is voted for individually and each award 8 points to the winner and the loser loses 8 points. A forfeit for a combo-task would still subtract 5 points. You cannot choose to accept only part of a combo-task. Each team can make one challenge (or one part of a combo challenge) for each of the 6 Tasks listed above.
Challenges are declared by PMing the Brawlmasters but not the challengee. Challengers will title the PM "BM-C [Challenge] [Challenging team]" before the Challenge timer ends in the current round. If the Brawlmasters approve the challenge, they will send the approval to the challenger and challengee. Both players must submit their finished work by the end of the round. Submissions will be voted on in the next voting round. If the challengee does not make a submission, they will have been considered as declining.
Each team may make up to 6 challenges in total.
If the challenge is sent to the Brawlmasters after the timer has ended, it will take place in the following round.
WinnerThe team that has the most points after all 5 rounds wins the event. All members of the team will receive a cool forum award icon and tons of respect. In the event of a tie, there will be a sudden death challenge for the bosses to determine the winner.
We appreciate feedback! If you have any ideas on how to improve the rules, please post it in the Suggestions and Feedback topic. Thank you!
