Title: Brawl #6 - Round 0.5
Post by: CleanOnion on January 10, 2017, 01:31:09 pm
Brawl 6 Round 0.5
(http://)

No timer!
Round 0.5

Owing to some technical wibbly-wobbly things regarding timing, Brawl will still be starting at the expected time that would occur if Auction hadn't gone really really quickly. As such, here's another Round 0-esque round to get your Brawl tastebuds wet. You have your teams now, so this is a good chance to see how well you work together!
Round 0.5 is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL and ANYONE CAN PARTICIPATE. You do not need to be in a team, and if you're already in one you don't have to work with them if you don't want to.

Round 0.5 doesn't play a role in the overall plot of Brawl #6. You can pretend it takes place before anything happens to Aurdinas if you like.

There will be no Voting Phase and you won't get any points, voints or any other sort of oint for this ""round"".

Teams have been given additional instructions on how to submit a task, but for Round 0.5, please ignore those instructions and just post in this thread.

Read Brawl Rules (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/forum-brawl/brawl-6-rules/)

All submissions must be made by making a new topic in your team's private board with the title:
[ROUND X] ROLE(S)

For example '[ROUND 1] Enchanter'

lmao don't do that
Royalty
A Really Shiny Crown | BASIC TASK
Show us a picture of a crown, or some other sort of royal apparel or implement you use when you're doing royal stuff.
Bard
Introspection of the External Spect | BASIC TASK
Make an image of your Bard drawing the image that you submit for this task.
Crusader
Scribe
Reluctant Conscription | COMBO TASK
Your country's military is a rag-tag collection of barely-trained soldiers who can't work together and don't know each other very well. This soon to change - next round, in fact - but for now....
Crusader: Make a theoretical 10-card deck, with no upgrades and no more than 1 copy of each non-pillar , that would stand a chance against defeating an AI3! Assume that you cannot lose from deckout; You simply stop drawing.
(Hard mode: Assume you can still lose by deckout!)
Scribe: Write the story of this unprepared set of soldiers, lost deep in enemy territory with nowhere to run.
Enchanter
Instant Win | BASIC TASK
Make two balanced cards: one that lets you instantly win if you have a certain number of them on the field, and one to counter it.
Wizard
The Most Meta Task You'll Get This Brawl | BASIC TASK
Go outside and take a picture of something really interesting.

Notes:
* Every submission in general must remain PG-13, non-Scribe submissions have a max limit of 1000 words (except if noted otherwise) and every submission must absolutely not exceed the length of a single private message (65535 characters).

Crusader task:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
590 5l9 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rk 5ri 5ro 5ru 8pm

pretty much autolose to everything with pc, eveything with cc, everything too rushy. I hope there is one deck it can beat.

Crusader:

Deck import code : [Select]
576 5j2 5jm 5jm 5rg 5rg 5rh 5ro 5rq 5t2 8ps

kind of made in cooperation with fippe, torb and hyroen (though it wouldnt have taken me long to realize Eternity is mandatory and I knew about the deja vu gimmick), scarab was my idea.
autolooses 55% of the time (going second or bottomdecking eternity)

Yeah kaempfer's deck was the only one I could get *any* wins with against Commoners in OEtG-vanilla. Of course it still autoloses if going second or if you bottom-deck eternity :P And of course against early silence, any PC, and early CC. And some other stuff too.

Attempt #1
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
7n2 7q0 7q0 7q0 7q1 7q8 7q8 7ri 7ri 7ri 8ps
It is sorely lacking again any CC though... and then I read some other submissions here and - well, upgrades no go so scrap attempt #1!

I guess an option is something a bit more Mono-y like:
Attempt #2!
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5ro 5rq 5rs 5t2 5t2 5t2 8ps

Same frailty though to _any_ PC, CC, rushes -- basically rush or control that draws OK is bad news. I did defeat a couple Commoners in oetg-v though.

This deck, a minor change of JCJ's deck, can win even with allowing deckout:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
4vj 4vh 52q 590 5c1 5f9 5fa 5l9 5t2 5rk 8pm

Only a few possible draws allow for this win though, but it can be done.

Deck import code : [Select]
590 592 5l9 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rg 5rm 5ro 5ru 8pm

Or you could do this.

I have ventured into the great unknown, and returned with a picture of all the glory that was to be found.

Be prepared for the running gag in the message icon.

I assume by "Your bard drawing the submitted picture" you meant a drostel.

No one really knows my appearance, so no one can prove that I'm not aethereal shadow from black-and-white limbo, that draws using telekinetic powers on random pixels to form an image.

Gosh, I would really love to have an ability to make art just with my middle finger. Incredible!

Scribe task:

An excerpt from a story that doesn't exist.

"Where are we going?" said Lieutenant Steffar, in despair. He was one of the highest and most trusted officials in this army.
"Lieutenant..." Sergeant Thomas replied. "I feel we are in enemy territory. This war has gone on too long. How many elementals are with us?" The duo had decided to lead a mission, but an enemy strike had led the two, along with the few elementals left, astray.
"We have 8 elementals. I don't know if we can leave alive, without our comrades." The Lieutenant mourned. "I pray to Lord Zanzarino they're okay. We lost a measly 6 elementals to the enemy strike, but the threats of disease and fatigue have claimed 86 elementals. We are doomed if we can't find General Arito, doomed!"
"Cheer up, Steffar, we've got your back." An elemental said, followed by 6 more elementals nodding in agreement. "There are people that still love you out there, and we'll take down the tyrants who've decided to seal the Sages of Light and execute their priests."
"I should trust you more, all of you..." Steffan sobbed, letting out a few tears. "Let's take down this enemy together!"
"ALRIGHT!" The army of 10 decided to look for their friends in arms, conserving whatever resources they had, and leaving all of their bad memories behind like the dust.

Parody tasks are funny!

Enchanter/Card Designer:
Instant Win Card and Counter
(http://i.imgur.com/09Pzh8H.png) or
If you have 23 Rock Golems on your side, and 23 Rock Golems on their side, you will deal 529 damage which is more than your MAX hp. However certain cards will prevent 500 momentum damage.

So if you get enough Rock Golems on the field, you can end turn and win. However...

The centurion kicked angrily at the ground...or rather, the lack of ground. Increasingly he'd been convinced that what was supposed to be a simple raid was in fact a suicide mission. The untrained troops he'd been given to command had been slaughtered in an ambush, each and every conscript perishing before his own Aetherial mirror double.

Standing atop a translucent crest of the ghostly land, he shaded his eyes over his mask. The sky, of course, remained glowing in the unearthly turquoise hue it had been since the force's ill-fated arrival, even since the beginning of this realm. In the unchanging glow, he struggled to observe landmarks in the unavailing scene - hoping to locate a path back to the desert sands where he belonged.

'Scree scree.' Something lightly ruffled the folds of his silken violet cloak and a large decorated beetle poked out its head. Interrupted from planning by his pet, the centurion lightly patted its crested back. With a softer chirp, it returned to hiding. The soldier sighed. He was the only combatant survivor, now leading a small contingent of mystics who (thanks be to Thoth) could still draw on His power in this forsaken realm of Aether where nothing was quite real and Time didn't seem to pass. After motioning to the civilians hidden beneath the hill that the coast was clear, he drew his finely made gold-and-blue sword then led on into the misty landscape.

After some distance, again cursing the loss of the regiment's Sundial and the outright lack of a sun, he called a lip of a shallow basin. The civilians, little to his surprise, appeared to be about ready to tumble into the wide caldera. Not that he wanted to push them that hard, but without a horizon in sight the options were limited to either force march or eventual and inevitable capture. Heart weighted with the fate of the 102nd, perished and survivors alike, he assessed his small band's exhaustion. Though certainly apprehensive, he ended marching for the 'day' with the prayer that failure would not be final.
