Regarding Bots and Scripts:
The Chat Moderators have been discussing this for some time, and, after seeing ongoing complaints of the abuse/annoyingness of bots, as well as seeing that for ourselves, we have come to a conclusion. We have decided that all forms of bots and scripts will be banned, unless it is an admin-created one (UTA's AveragePotato). Those who do not follow this rule will be kicked, and if this still does not change their choices, temporary bans will take place, increasing in time for each infraction. However, and I know this must be addressed to prevent this from happening, those who intentionally set off the bots (even if you're just testing a known script to see if it's still active) will receive the same penalty. If you are one who uses scripts and wants to make sure all are disabled, feel free to do so in your own private IRC channel, but remember that if it happens in chat, you will receive a kick.
Tl;dr
- Use of bots/scripts is prohibited
- Using a bot or script will warrant a kick and then a ban of increasing time if it continues
- Intentionally triggering or "testing" bots or scripts is banned
- Intentionally triggering a bot may result in a kick or a ban of increasing time if it continues after warnings

Finally.

Kinda slow, but this should be helpful.

Not even useful bots, like blarp's EtG Tools one or our lovely AveragePotato?

Let the admins set those up.

Read the Original Post again, carefully. =P

Rarely see anyone use bots in chat :)
Oh well, no more fun activating blarp bot.

His bot and others ravaged chat for about a week or so, before you starting appearing in chat. It made me want to hack blarp's computer and make it explode.

His bot and others ravaged chat for about a week or so, and still is in this exact moment, before you starting appearing in chat. It made me want to hack blarp's computer and make it explode.
Just so you know that the rules have been enforced.

So would the trivia bot that was being worked on need to be done in a separate channel then?
Does this also apply to tourny chat? [gotta be specific]
Can you advertise for a bot being done in a different channel?

Hear, hear!

Meh, I didn't stop by much anymore anyway, I guess.

To the extent that votes matter here, I'd vote that the trivia stuff happen in a different channel (#elementstrivia or something) with (non-bot/script, actual humans talking) advertising of the game happening periodically in #elements.

Chat games are free to be hosted in #etgtournaments, as always. If you want to host something while a tournament is ongoing, create your own channel by joining it. It's that easy.
Spam in the tournament channel or spam anywhere, by bot or person, is spam. Spam is spam is spam (etc.). Common sense applies everywhere, like Aether.

pisg is a new bot that collects stats from the channel. I'm letting everybody know so you don't have to fear it. It's run by Duck/Konata (same person).
