Chat problems?

Some people have been having a lot of problems with our Elements Chat (http://elementschat.co.cc/chat.php). Chat seems to freeze frequently, requiring user to reload the page. I have done some investigating, and I've found out that many of these issues are directly related to a crappy browser software called IE 6.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 was released in late 2001, yet many people still use this horrible piece of software. It's the bane of all web designers out there, and I wasn't surprised when I found out that it had serious compatibility issues (freezing) with our chat software. It's it's not only IE 6, newer versions of IE also have tons of problems. Bottom line is that IE is bad software that should be avoided at all cost.

Please, for the love of God, join all the cool people and move away from the IE to better free options like Google Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome) or Firefox (http://www.mozillaonline.com/). Installing takes only a couple of minutes and your whole internet experience improves a lot.

If you are still not convinced, and for some reason want to torture yourself by using IE, all you can do is wait for an updated version of our chat software that hopefully fixes the problem.

Please, for the love of God, join all the cool people and move from IE to better free options like Google Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome) or Firefox (http://www.mozillaonline.com/). It might not fix all the chat problems but it sure should fix most of them.

But seriously, I rarely run into these problems with Google Chrome. I know several people who use Firefox and have no problems either. Since I have all three on my family computer, I decided to test, and IE is definitely the slowest, and freezes the most.

Anyone who seriously uses IE over every other browser should be sent to the gallows.  With the exception of streaming videos, Firefox is greater in every aspect.

Also, Safari works as well on Apple computers.

I use IE and thankfully have very few problems with it.

I use Firefox and do have problems sometimes. Chat freezes where I type something, press Enter and the line doesn't move to the "chat screen" where everyone can see what you wrote.

I feel silly when I check to see if chat's dead to just find out that my chat had been congealed 4ever, unless I refresh.

Yeah, that occasionally happens to me, but it got better after my dad cleared up all of the junk on the computer.

chat is not working for me at all; it just loads for 2 secs and then gives me just a white screen

when I check the logs it reads as thus:

"Failed to load resource"

Hm.. that's weird. I've never experienced this myself.

You are using http://elementschat.co.cc/ , right?

So you get nothing? Not even the login screen?

Have you tried multiple computers and/or browsers?

its exactly the same in the area where you chose the room to enter... except... there are no rooms to choose from

0_o I finally got into a room, once, but I could only see chat by clicking history; then I could not chat anymore even after I smashed the "ok" and "enter" button

it all started after I updated my AVG virus protection to AVG 2011 :/

sounds like your anti virus i blocking some kind of add that is essential ?

I hate anti virus programs so much. At what point do they become a virus? They use up all your system resources, they are constantly updating without your permission and sending your info to the company. They block websites etc...

actually, this is the only time AVG has ever bothered me

hehe funny how the more expensive things, IE and that one popular anti-virus software, are pieces of S*** compared to their free versions
